Civil War for Americans
Civil War in Iraq -- no, because the majority of fighters in Iraq causing all the problems were FOREIGN fighters. Now that they have either been killed or run out of the country, things between the three sects of Iraqis is calming down nicely. The Kurds, Shia, and Sunni seem to be working together. Ah, if it were only so here in the U.S.
Civil War between Republicans and Democrats -- yes.
Civil War between Democrats and Democrats -- yes, over race, and between the socialists, communists, progressives, moderates.
Civil War between Republicans (Moderates, Conservatives, Liberals) - yes.
Civil war between the races (and sexes) -- not full blown, but simmering under the surface.
We seem to be suffering from several maladies in this election, the 'herd mentality' is one. Young folks seem to be backing Barack Obama. Why? The answer is usually he looks good, he's young[er], he's hip[er]. Or groups select a candidate because of race, sex, religion, ... Tom McLaughlin says:
Last week, Christopher Hitchens pointed out how obsession with color and sex is haunting the Democrats in this primary process. Early on, it looked like Democrat voters were starting to get beyond it as pollsters reported Barack Obama having more support among women than Hillary Clinton – and she had more support among people who think of themselves as black than Obama did. Lately, however, Democrats seem to have returned to their traditional politics of sex and color and the tribes are lining up accordingly.Hitchens defined a racist as: “one who believes that there are human races.” Those who insist the U.S. Census continue categorizing Americans according to “race” (even though biologists insist there are no such things as races) could be labeled as such, as can those who insist on maintaining skin-color preferences in hiring, awarding contracts, and assigning students to schools.
My hope is that someday all of us will realize there’s only one race – the human race – and we all belong to it. Then, perhaps, we’ll abandon that most primitive of our voting patterns. (more)
Obama is complaining that he's being double-tagged by Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton. I've got a scary thought for you. What if Hillary chooses Bill for her Vice President??? Hillary would have to give him some "no-doze" to keep him awake.
Isn't this one a kick in the pants: FROM THE ANNALS OF BAD TIMING: "Fred Would Have Picked Up All 47 of Louisiana's Delegates Had He Not Dropped Out?" Seems Rudy is dropping in the polls and Fred's supporters are going to Mitt Romney.
We often talk about our universities and how Liberal they are, but what about the Conservative professors? It seems that Conservative university professors are running away from McCain and heading for Romney. Why? Because they " ... care more about the issue of judges and are on average in a better position to consider the candidates on this particular issue than are most other conservative activists, don't like what they see in McCain."
Whoever the next president is, we pray that they concentrate on what is important, like reining in spending, national security, our relationship with other nations like Russia, Islamic terror and Israel's future, who we give money to (Palestinians for one) and whether that should continue, illegal immigration and the war on the border, the scams connected to climate change, and not destroying our economy with tax increases and big government programs.
Former military service did not help John Kerry and it doesn't seem to be helping John McCain. Ben Shapiro says:
As I write in my new book, Project President: Bad Hair and Botox on the Road to the White House, military service used to be an important prerequisite for the presidency. During the 19th Century, Americans elected eight generals to the presidency. Not anymore. During the 20th Century, Americans elected only one. The 20th Century has seen only four genuine war heroes elected president: Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, and George H. W. Bush. (more)
Flanders Fields discussed the civil war better than I could, here's a taste, but go read it all:
The war we are in is not limited to your country. The civil war of today is in all nations of the West. The fallout from the war has global implications. Most importantly, the real implications are for you - the individual. You are the prize possession. There are frontlines being drawn. Establishment, communitarian, corporate, media and controlling influence groups and organizations are training heavy armaments against your defensive fortifications. Blasts from their cannon have already chipped the walls on the constitutional side of your protective defenses. (more)

Here is another article for you on Obama. The author criticizes the Clintons for their attacks on Obama. It was published in the liberal NY Times. The author writes, "Mr. Obama is not a Muslim. He’s a Christian. And if he were a Muslim, it would not be a legitimate reason for attacking his candidacy."

"Blacks will mostly vote black and whites will mostly vote white."
Give me a truly conservative black candidate and I would vote for him/her.
It would be most refreshing.
BTW I have been white all my life.

Nicely put. Seems that things are going to get worse before they get better too.
Voted!

I just heard an interview about Ben Shapiro and his book. Good to see a savvy, 24 year old who has a grasp of history and contemporary politics. The future isn't lost yet.
The last general who won the White House actually had sound background -- military and governmental -- to make it work. Supreme Allied Commander of SHAEF during World War II, and later fledgling NATO, was a solid foundation for Dwight Eisenhower.
Compared to that, having been a POW as a basis to be Commander in Chief is a joke, regardless of who McCain's father and grandfather were. They had more basis to make that claim, and they ain't running, being quite dead as cans of corned beef.
Right now, it looks like Mitt is the best option.

Well, I said awhile back that this election was about race. Blacks will mostly vote black and whites will mostly vote white.
One thing I do have to give the average American voter credit for, though, is stupidity. Simply because nearly all of them pay no attention at all to a candidates record or leanings, they vote only on the utter BS spouted to them, the pre-election promises but mostly on the persons physical features.
What kind of president the person would actually make has no bearing at all on it.
That the entire West is in conflict with itself is why we blog. It's a battle between the appeasers and the Nationalists.
Personally I'm for the Nationalists.

Wonderful piece. Excellent analysis of a truly global war. I do believe we are in a genuine "Axial Age", poised at the crossroads of history. We can only pray that we (the Western World) make the right decisions.
