It's not a surprise to anyone that the Waziristan Accord, a/k/a Waziristan Tready, not working out so well. The accord "is considered by some to be the "unconditional surrender" of the government of Pakistan to the tribes of the area, the Taliban, and al-Qa'ida.[2] " The U.S. announced we are sending another 3,000 Marines to Afghanistan. Also I understand there is a new push to take out Osama Bin Laden before Bush leaves office. President George W. Bush said 'I am on a timetable. I've got 12 months.' I suggest he do no harm before he is replaced.
The Waziristan Accord between Pakistan's government and tribal leaders in that country's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) has failed not only to curb violence in the immediate region but also to restrict cross-border militant activity--including resurgent Taliban and al-Qa'ida cadres--between Pakistan's "tribal belt" and Afghanistan. The purpose of this article is to examine the Waziristan Accord and to indicate why agreements of this nature will continue to fail unless there is a substantial modification in Pakistan's internal and regional policies. Pakistan is on the verge of something, either turning toward democracy or descending into chaos. Afghanistan could go either way, and the tribal regions are full of al-Qaeda that need to be taken out. The Middle East is, well, business as usual. Bush is hoping to at least have a plan for peace before he leaves office.
“I believe there will be a signed peace treaty by the time I leave office. I believe that,’’ Bush insisted here.Asked about his own role, Bush said it is to “nudge the process forward… pressure -- be a pain, if I need to be a pain, which in some peoples’ minds is not that hard. (more)
Bush needs to look at things here at home. We have honor killings here in Texas, his home state. We have enclaves of Muslims who want special privileges here in the United States. We have immigration of Somalis who do not want to integrate into our society.
We have flight schools under investigation for providing documents to foreigners for permission to come to the United States as flight students. Remember September 11, 2001 anybody??? We're not enforcing the illegal immigration laws we have on the books. Leaders like Bush are for open borders
The wings of an El Cajon flight school are clipped for now, as it goes under the microscope of a federal agency. Immigrantion and Customs Enforcement agents are investigating Anglo-American Flight School. (continue reading)
