Politicians Pander on Illegal Immigration and Terrorism - UPDATED

Mike Huckabee has, in an attempt to pander to anti-illegal immigrant sentiment, promised Minuteman Project founder James Gilchrist that he would force a test case to the Supreme Court to challenge birthright citizenship, and would push Congress to pass a 28th Amendment to the Constitution to remove any doubt. Huckabee thinks the case against U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean was railroaded, and says he would pardon them when he becomes president. I wish they would be pardoned, but again this is pandering to the American voters who have not agreed with Huckabee's stand on illegal aliens.

I told you yesterday that politicians will promise anything to get elected. Via The Tiger of Somerville:

One area where this is true is in the application of jus soli to citizenship — if you are born on Canadian or American soil, provided that you are not the child of a diplomat, or of someone accompanying an invading army, you have citizenship by birth.

The above is true and what Huckabee has suggested is a good idea. But everyone knows his policies on illegal aliens... he's for amnesty, he's for college tuition for the children of illegals, and he is just pandering for votes. I hate that in politicians. On pandering to the enemy, (hat tip to Steve at Internet Radio Network:

None of the four Democrat presidential candidates — despite running for an office that demands they lead the ongoing global war against Islamic extremists — could bring himself or herself to define the enemy we face as Islamic.

Their combined references to "Islam" or "Islamic" totaled zero — even though moderator Charles Gibson prompted them with a question about "Islamic radicals" threatening the U.S. with nuclear terrorism.

But Democrats refused to go there. Out of respect for their constituency, there was a complete blackout regarding Islamic jihad. (IBD Editorial)

From that same IBD Editorial, where do the Republicans stand?

Republicans, on the other hand, called the enemy by its proper name.

The candidates referred to terrorists and terrorism as "Islamic," while also citing radical "Islam" as the problem, no less than 22 times. For example:

• Rudy Giuliani argued the U.S. must stay "on offense against Islamic terrorism."

• Mike Huckabee said the source of the threat we face is from the "radical Islamic faith." "This is an Islamic problem," he said. "This is a jihadist problem. This is an Islamofascism problem."

Huckabee elaborated: "They are prompted by the fact that they must establish a worldwide caliphate that has nothing to do with us other than we live and breathe, and their intention is to destroy us."

• John McCain warned that "the transcendent challenge of the 21st century is radical Islamic extremists."

• Mitt Romney said the "philosophy of radical jihadism says, 'We want to kill.' "

• Fred Thompson asserted, "We are in a global war with radical Islam. They declared war on us a long, long time ago. We took note, really, for the first time on Sept. 11, 2001."

They get it. Democrats don't. They talked a lot about "fighting" — fighting insurance companies and big business and Wall Street and polluters. But will they fight the real enemy — Islamic terrorists?

Food for thought, "Since the terrorist attacks of September 11, the U.S. State Department has issued more than 50,000 new visas to allow non-- Israeli visitors from the Middle East to enter the United States."

On the glaringly obvious problem of foreigners coming to the United States legally and never leaving once their visas expire, and the glaringly obvious security threat of such a problem in light of the September 11 terrorist attacks, one would think that Homeland Security would keep tabs on these people. Not so. National Security Entry-Exit Registration System (NSEERS), has been scrapped. Read all the statistics at BNET Research Center, here's the intro:

Think fast: You're a government official charged with securing the homeland and enforcing the nation's immigration laws. You have a program that works well. Liberal special interests criticize it vigorously because it's effective. What do you do?

If you're running the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), you kill the program.

Common sense would dictate not only retention but expansion of such a successful government program. But DHS officials have scrapped the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System (NSEERS). (more)

We should be very careful who speaks for us and who speaks against us when it comes to both politics and especially terrorism.

Now the number of states giving drivers licenses to alien invaders is down to seven. Let’s make it zero. No licenses for illegals is still only a band-aid. We desperately need the Federal Government to take strong non-stop action against this huge criminal element in our country. Severe economic pressure must be applied to force the illegals out. Huckabee's Website states the following:

I oppose and will never allow amnesty. I opposed the amnesty President Bush and Senator McCain tried to ram through Congress this summer, and opposed the misnamed DREAM Act, which would have put us on the slippery slope to amnesty for all.

I oppose and will not tolerate sanctuaries for illegals. The federal government must crack down on rogue cities that willfully undermine our economy and national security.

I oppose giving driver's licenses to illegals and supports legislation to prevent states from doing so. In 2005, I signed legislation that prevents illegals in Arkansas from getting driver's licenses.

In this age of terror, immigration is not only an economic issue, but also a national security issue Those caught trying to enter illegally must be detained, processed, and deported. As Governor, I ordered my state troopers to work with the Department of Homeland Security to arrest illegals and enforce federal immigration law.

The phrase in our constitution is "born under the authority of the US government." A diplomat is under the authority of their appointed government. An illegal alien by definition is not under the authority of the US government.
The problem is nobody is willing to challenge this act. Hucklbee is right on this but wrong for America.

Huckabee's website is just The Governor from Tyson Foods' attempt at historical revisionism. He made every effort while operating from his office as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tyson Foods to make Arkansas a sanctuary state, for heaven's sake! HE pushed for "scholarships" for illegal aliens in his state! HE is a liar and the truth is not in him.
