Really good reading here, Debbie. Well done. I am so sick of hearing about how terrible every aspect of our lives are from the Democrat candidates. They can only win on the negative, not positives. It's failed policy this and failed policy that. Blech.

OHHHH STORMWARNING , YOUR PRETTY SNEAKY HUH??? DON,T TAKE IT AS AN INSULT, IT TAKES BRAINS TO BE SNEAKY.

America isn't broken; granted, it is in the eyes of progressives who have not hated America, but just hate an America they haven't controlled and molded into their impossibly polyannic utopian fantasies.

What America seems to lack is courageous, statesperson-like leadership, and a media that has largely forgotten they are purveyors of news, not social engineers.

Neither Obama nor Hildebeest offer a hopeful future to the nation; only to the apologists and defeatists who wish to grovel to Mecca.

No, Debbie, America is not broken but we shouldn't be so arrogant as to think she can't break. Mighty Rome crumbled from within, making herself vulnerable to barbarian conquest. The same thing can happen and, I feel, is happening to a limited extent in America. We, the people, cannot look to "leaders" to reverse this trend. Saving America is OUR job and we should throw our supposed representatives to the dogs if that's what it'll take to preserve the nation.

Great post! America isn't broken but we are facing a leadership crisis. No one in the presidential race is emphasizing the greatness of America or the ability of Americans to solve their own problems without the help of the government. Obama makes a good speech but has no substance outside of how he will raise taxes, give away taxpayer money and demolish the military. Hillary is so power obsessed that she is even promising to give people thousands of dollars just for having a baby.

That leaves McCain. McCain tried his best to shove his amnesty program down Americans' throats and blamed talk radio for his failure while cussing out opponents. He is having trouble reaching his own party's base.

America does best when the people are free of government interference and nannyism. I really would like to see some leadership in this country embrace that idea.

MAY GOD HEAR YOU, that's what I say. America NEVER will broke, because the majority of the people is unbrokable.

And BTW, at one point in my life I was a member of SDS, I went "undercover" to meetings of the Young Republicans Club, I demonstrated and protested against the Vietnam War, I was involved in the March on Washington, I campaigned for Allard Lowenstein and Bobby Kennedy, I hated Dick Nixon, I voted for WJC both times, Al Gore, and then, GWB. Guess what? None of my past matters. Only my present and my future.

As Sean Hannity might say, "I'm a great American."

Did Obama meet with Palmer? Probably. Does that make him a sympathizer with the Weathermen (or the Weather Underground)? PLEASE! I can see I'm going to have a "enjoyable" time reading about how one candidate or the other will sell the country down the river. The fact that I've been (HUSH!) a McCain supporter from the outset...and that I'm glad that people like Romney, Thompson, Giuliani and soon, Huckabee, will not represent the Republican Party...is likely only to raise hackles and scorn. I wouldn't vote for Obama (or Clinton) anyway. But this, the "horror of horrors!" that State Senator Alice Palmer introduced Obama as her successor in 1995. What does it really mean?

Did John McCain cheat on his wife? No, I don't think so. Did John McCain appropriately or inappropriately influence on behalf of the woman's client? I don't know. I do know (or at least believe) that McCain is an honorable man.

Do I think that Obama is honorable. Yes, I do. Will he sell out the country to the Muslims or the Africans? PLEASE!

The levels of innuendo will rise higher than a tall building between now and November. If "we the people" want better government, than in my opinion, we have to be better ourselves.

"If Barack Obama makes it all the way to the White House, it will represent a quantum leap in American consciousness and a promise to restore America's position in the world."

Debbie America will be broken if people buy into that crap. SPIT!
