Via News Max and AP:
The IRS is investigating the United Church of Christ over a speech Barack Obama gave to its national meeting last year after he became a candidate for president. [snip]Church officials say they had consulted with lawyers before the Democrat's June 2007 speech and made clear before Obama's address that he was speaking as a church member, not a political candidate.
In Obama's defense, I think a lot of other politicians could be guilty of the same thing. I remember Clinton giving speeches in many churches that were anything BUT religious in nature, more like completely political. If they go after Obama's church, they will have to go after a lot more churches.

Lest we forget, AlGore attending a fund raiser at a Buddhist temple he claimed he didn't know was a Buddhist temple, while all too happy to accept their campaign contributions...the same guy who is now a lead cardinal of the Church of Global Warming Scams. Or Slick Willie, and his faux memories of burning churches in Arkansas, who passed many a plate at a church that had nothing to do with a sermon.
Go after one, you go after the whole kit and kabootle.
Not that I am defending Obama (his presidency would be as big a disaster as Hildebeest's would); but I do weary of hypocrisy that the media is more than willing to wink and nod at.

Debbie, I have no doubt that probably every person in that 'church' will vote for Obama. The fact that he spoke as a member of the congregation notwithstanding. He shouldn't have been up there speaking but you're right, I'm sure it goes on everywhere.
