So many questions, so few answers
So many questions about Presidential candidate Barack Obama and so few answers. The main problem I see is that the truth will be revealed to voters too late -- after the election. I fear that the buyers remorse will be huge, but it doesn't matter, the damage will be done. Obama will be president and we will be forced to suffer the consequences when the pretty balloon bursts and there's nothing but empty air left to fill the void.
How Far Will Paperless Trail Carry Obama? asks Charles Krauthammer in Investors Business Daily (hat tip Steve T. at Internet Radio Network).
Obama has an astonishingly empty paper trail. He's going around issuing promissory notes on the future that he can't possibly redeem.Promises to heal the world with negotiations with the likes of Iran's President Ahmadinejad. Promises to transcend the conundrums of entitlement reform that require real and painful trade-offs and that have eluded solution for a generation. Promises to fund his other promises by a rapid withdrawal from an unpopular war — with the hope, I suppose, that the (presumed) resulting increase in American prestige would compensate for the chaos to follow.
Democrats are worried that the Obama spell will break between the time of his nomination and the time of the election, and deny them the White House. My guess is that he can maintain the spell just past Inauguration Day.
After which will come the awakening. It will be rude.
What will the candidates do on Kosovo and Balkans where a violent Muslim regime has been assisted, even pushed, into power, although it's not politically, culturally, or any other way, ready.
What will the candidates do about the continuing crisis in Pakistan as they prepare for elections?
What about the spread of terrorism in Africa and the unrest in Kenya, where Obama just happens to have family connections?
Where's the substance, the plan, the issues? Has this election come down to an old-time snake oil salesman vs a life-long liar adept at threatening her adversaries by whatever means necessary to win? Obama has supporters fainting at his messianic speeches while Clinton uses back-room threats and campaign bribes to sway super delegates. Is Obama's campaign all 'theater'?
Call it the Barack Obama traveling salvation show – campaign rallies and speeches that seem like the secular counterpart of tent-meeting revivals and evangelistic sermons common in the U.S. a century ago.A video compilation by Breitbart.TV shows Obama on several occasions breaking off his speeches to address someone who has collapsed, usually close to the stage, and to call for medical personnel while he offers bottled water to the overcome supporter. How will the candidates protect Americans from terrorism like this, video of a 12 year old Taliban boy beheading, hat tip American Power Blog. WARNING: Strongest possible content warning.
Obama is Old Wine in a New Suit and Hillary is just Old Wine Reconstituted:
What would a President Obama look like?Much of his rhetoric is lighter than air -- almost content-free. It's the past versus the future, hope over fear, one nation not two, yes we can, turn the page, and so forth. But when you get past the music and really focus on the lyrics, Obama emerges as an utterly conventional, down-the-line liberal Democrat. He claims to be all about the future, but his policy ideas are about as modern as disco and the leisure suit. [snip]
... All of that soaring rhetoric is supported by policies that are so old they creak. Obama may be shiny, bright and new, but his ideas are suffering from senility. (more)
Chuck Muth asks "I have a politically incorrect question to ask about race and the Barack Obama race:
It’s a certainty that a lot of white voters have been voting against B.O. only because he’s black. And that, of course, is racism. But on the other hand, an awful lot of black voters - in the neighborhood of 90 percent - are voting FOR him, apparently only because he’s black. [snip]And racism is bad, right? Where’s Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton when you need them?
Um, isn’t that racism, too?
Hey folks, the GOP isn't "WHITE" any more than the Democrats are a "BLACK" party.
One question that can be answered is on taxes. From Fox News via Terri at Steel Magnolias via email:
Candidates Tax Plan marginal income tax:obama 39,6%;
clinton 39.6%;
mccain 35%;
current 35%;
capital gain tax:obama 28%;
clinton 20%;
mccain 15%;
current 15%;
dividend taxobama 39.6%;
clinton 39.6%;
mccain 15%;
current 15%
that's quite a tax hike if you go w/ the dems!
not including Obama's stupid global poverty tax bill that just passed ....
845 billion dollars going to the UN above and beyond what we already give these crooks...
Terri also notes that "Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity did a poll out in the streets … not one person that said they were voting for B.O. knew one policy of his …" and that is typical of Obama supporters.
What we are seeing is the Dumbing Down of Americans in this election.

I'd vote for Ron if he weren't a scary freakin' idiot.
That is a good summation. I'd add Huckabee to that list.

Rastaman: I'm not sure why the media didn't give Ron Paul more time. I won't have to kick myself for voting for McCain, because I won't. But I can't vote for Ron Paul either, sorry my friend.

Those taxes you're referring to mostly affect the rich, of which I ain't one. The GOP is spending us all into the goddam poor house and we all know it. Bush and his party have been a disaster for Americans by wiping out our manufacturing and the jobs that went with it so they can reap huge profits out-sourcing it all to China.
So stop talking about taxes as if the GOP had some kind of advantage politically over that issue. They don't.
You don't like McCain, Clinton or Obama? So? Still going to vote? Then let's put all the BS aside about taxes and racism and all the other crap that has nothing to do with this election, and let's look at our choices in the white light of day.
The only good choice is Ron Paul. He's the only one who wants to lift the corporate yoke back off the shoulders of us, the Americans, the ones who are supposed to be electing a LEADER. Which is exactly why he was censored right out of the race by the Rupert Murdoch-owned media. Murdoch controls MySpace, CNN, Fox and Time-Warner along with the Wall Street Journal and many other radio stations, newspapers, tabloids and magazines. And the last person he wanted to see become president is the same person who scored the highest in all the online polls: Ron Paul! This is why Ron Paul is CENSORED OUT by CNN, FOX, MySpace and many others. Where his face should appear with the other candidates, you see a GOP emblem instead. When he scored higher than McCain repeatedly in caucases, this information was censored out as if no one had even voted for him.
His website: http://www.ronpaul2008.com/
He's still campaigning but do you hear a word of it?
Vote for Ron Paul, win or lose. And if he does lose, at least you'll never have to look back and kick yourself in the ass for having voted for McCain.
Self-esteem does matter.
