Richardson to the rescue !

Like Mighty Mouse here to save the day -- New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson swoops in to save the day by endorsing Barack Obama for President of the United States. What timing! I can hear the butt-kissing all the way to Tennessee. Richardson is so obvious, sucking up for the VP job, or perhaps some other job in Obama's cabinet. (Me, Me, oh PLEASE, PICK MEEEEEEE) Obama is hoping this will get the REV. Jeremiah Wright off the headlines.

Listening to Richardson's endorsement speech (text here) I noticed a few comments that I want to share.

First, Richardson said Obama is "well ahead in the delegate count." Oh year, Richardson thinks he's picking a winner in this race. Don't be too sure about that, Bill, because the Clintons are still breathing. You are now on their hit list, beware.

Second, Richardson said that "Senator Obama showed us once again what kind of leader he is." Correct, Obama showed that he is the kind of politician that will say and do anything to get elected (sort of like you, Richardson). He even threw his own grandma under the bus trying to salvage things.

And then there's this:

Hate crimes against Hispanics are rising as a direct result and now, in tough economic times, people look for scapegoats and I fear that people will continue to exploit our racial differences—and place blame on others not like them.

We all know the real culprit -- the disastrous economic policies of the Bush Administration!

Wow, that took a lot of intellectual thought -- blame hate crimes, economic issues, racial differences (fill in the blank) on Bush. Original, Richardson -- really original. But guaranteed to get applause from the Democrats.

Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.

Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks—with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas—to advance black applicants over white applicants.

Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.

We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude? [snip]

I started to watch the endorsement but had to turn the channel. I've never trusted Richardson, he always had that weasal factor to me.

Same old blather from him. Tossing Hillary over for Obama, in hopes I'm sure, of a nice position in D.C. with the administration, should he be elected. Raw opportunism. He's a weasal.

Richardson is such a twit. So much for his loyalty to his old buddies, the Clintons. Could it be Obama has offered him a nice spot in the Obama Administration? Oh, say it isn't so.

Yes, I'm thinking our new Minister of State Religion will be either Osama bin Laden, or Louis Farrakhan. It may be time to investigate an island in the South Pacific.

I agree with you about Richardson. In fact, I know for a fact he gives me gas.

Always nice to hear from another Richardson lover. He's another one who loves the Bush "Open Door" plan: No guards, no gates, just let 'em all pour in.

Whatever happened to all the nutjobs and admixtured true but very intense patriots who used to run around shooting at politicians? Just wondering...

You expect gratitude from the black population? Some do have it and understand that people who had nothing to do with oppressing anybody have given a great deal to help Negroes take an equal place in a predominantly white society. HOWEVER... Their leaders have survived and prospered for a long time now by promoting racist hatred, the NAACP and the Negro College Fund and BET TV to name a few more active and prominent racist forces in America.

There is no excuse for KKK-type hatred. Neither is there any excuse for NAACP-type hatred or Nation of Islam racism. None of it has validity, and it is this exact non-valid coin that Obama is spending in his bid for the presidency. The White Guilt card.
