Always Proud to be an American and a Tennesseean

The Tennessee GOP has released this web video, which takes Michelle Obama to task for saying about her husband's campaign, "For the first time in my adult life I'm proud to be an American." The video features a diverse group of Americans explaining why they are proud of their country.

I have visited several foreign countries; I have visited over half of the States in the United States; and I have lived in more than one State. I have been proud to be an American all my life. I was raised by parents who love this country and I was taught in schools that were proud to say the Pledge each morning; where prayer in school was welcome. I am proud to live in a community in Tennessee where ballgames and other events are opened with prayer and God is thanked for his blessings. I AM ... AND ALWAYS HAVE BEEN ... PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN.

While I know that our views differ, polarization has been coming since before 2001. This post of mine will lead you (if you have the patience) to some of the "thinking."

http://tinyurl.com/6ebmpq

One noted conservative blogger actually agreed with some of it.

[I personally see (and fear) the dramatic split in American society. The disagreements are so obvious…we talk of freedoms…we talk of rights…but we do not talk about or seek common ground. Instead, we are allowing our differences…or race, of religion, or expression and of political attitude…do exactly what bin Laden and his cohorts (and other terrorists of the jihad) seek to accomplish…a rending rather than a blending of American society. Yes, as Snooper wrote, “we must avert another American civil war.” My question is who and how?]

Thank you to both Aurora and Debbie...much appreciated :)

Stormwarning, it's liberalism as Debbie says, but also pockets of Islamism. I think there's a zeitgeist of America hatred in the world which has actually filtered into the country itself. I remember reading a prominent conservative who came out of liberalism who talked about having a rude awakening that many of the liberals he knows hate America...actually hate their own country.
If you read the history of the Frankfurt school, who were nihilistic Marxists, they fled to America during the time of WWII and began spreading their cancer there. I heard a brilliant YouTube clip the other day which named names and went into the history of the movement and its nihilistic goals.
I believe that this is one of the reasons why the hard Left are Islam enablers. Both are destructive of the host community.
The Americans I have always known in my friends and family are polar opposites to these America haters, which is why I used the term parallel Americas. I also see more and more of a polarization between different ideologies in society today, and I think that polarization is going to widen. People have always disagreed but now you get young kids on YouTube talking about how they want to kill George Bush and that it would be good for someone to assassinate Hillary Clinton. Since when have we seen this kind of rabid hatred against those of different opinions inside America?
Apologies for being long-winded, but that's my view in a nutshell.

Stormwarning: If I had to guess, I would suspect that the inner cancer eating at the United States is Liberalism, which leads to softness when dealing with our enemies, terrorists, and many other things.

Liberalism that believes in taxing American citizens until they are working for the government as much as they work for themselves.

Liberalism that never wants to tighten the belt of the government. A government that produces nothing, makes more Americans dependent on the government than on themselves. Should I go on?

Sure, OK. I wouldn't want you to speak for her. The question is specific, and alas, likely to be unanswered despite my honest desire to understand and learn.

Stormwarning: I can't speak for Aurora. You can go check out her site and ask her yourself. Apparently she has not checked back here to read your comment and question.

You know? I am dead serious about my interest in learning about what it was that Aurora wrote: "...despite the cancer that's eating her from within, which I see as a parallel nation...a kind of virus feeding off the host."

Is the cancer "liberals" or is the cancer an encroachment of Islam? What parallel nation is she describing? Is that one in which "other values" are espoused?

The United States of America is a great nation. One of the things that makes it great is the diversity of its people and of their opinions/beliefs and how they live their lives. Diversity is not "oneness." So, I am interested to learn about this "parallel nation."

Loved it, magnificent post Debbie. As you know, I am not American but immensely proud to be supporting America.

Curious. I am interested in knowing more about what Aurora wrote: "...despite the cancer that's eating her from within, which I see as a parallel nation...a kind of virus feeding off the host."

Cancer? Parallel nation? I am interested. Explain?

Nice post, Debbie. I was born in America to an American mother and an Australian father, moved to Australia as a baby and grew up here. But I call myself fully American and fully Australian (if that makes sense). I am as proud to be an American as any other American I know and I hotly defend her when I'm at work (where I work with mostly Europeans).
There is an America that is still the greatest country this world has known, despite the cancer that's eating her from within, which I see as a parallel nation...a kind of virus feeding off the host. May God protect and preserve the true America!

Great post, and it's great that we have the freedom of expression in this country.

There's not a day that goes by that I don't thank God for letting me be born an American...and I didn't have to wait all my "adult life time" to begin thinking that way!

Thanks for the input everyone.

Mary, you are such a moving force in the battle against illegal aliens. Got bless you.

Hillbilly: I look forward to finding out who McCain will choose for VP, but I'm not holding my breath it will be a strong Conservative.

My ancestors came to Tennessee by 1795 from Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina.

For 20 years I have studied the history and records of England, Scotland and Ireland to discover why they left, some by 1640. I have learned that an America devoid of infrastructure but with plenty of land to build on was their goal.
And it is the planting, building, moving, ever south and west to build again that has made me determined NOT TO GIVE IT TO A BUNCH OF STUPID POLITICANS AND ILLEGAL ALIENS.......

Willy...and as for my very good friend and associate whose middle name is also Hussein?, what say you? Clue: He's atleast as patriotic an American as me (and probably you too).

Barack Hussein Obama (I use that to make sure we remember his heritage) is an abomination to this nation. He is Un American and is on a path to take us to destruction.

I may step on toes but Hillary scares me just as much.

John McCain is our only other choice- Hope he gets a good VP.

Not a good move to make this next election.

10-4 willy

The blog is hosted on Moon's own servers. He told me that the blogs took a rather serious attack of some sort and have been rendered inoperable (we have no idea who or why there was such a DoS on the servers). We were on Godaddy's servers but are now in the process of migrating to a substantially more secure server (I actually know the compnay quite well and their approach to security is unique and very secure). The commercial sites are moving first, the blogs afterward. There are 37 sites in all so it's gonna take a while. Hopefully they'll be fully functional sometime this weekend. We expect that alll posts except those from 5/14 were salvageable. The great surprise is how insecure and vulnerbaly Godaddy operates their commercial web space.

We should be back up Sunday.

Sadly, we only have to wait for McCain to denounce that too, the wolf in sheep's clothing. lol. Anyway, well said, Debbie, I think you speak for all of us; as does the Tennessee GOP on this one.

Thanks for sharing your pride everyone.

(Stormwarning, I notice your site is still not working.)

Yes, I am proud to be an American, and I am proud to serve it in the way that I do. Senator Obama's wife's comments bordered on the ludicrous (in no other country than America etc.). But, we also need to remember that our pride in being an American should never stop us from questioning things that we see as wrong or in need of fixing. I am reminded of this because this past Tuesday, I met with and had lunch with a good friend of mine whose middel name is Hussein. He is as much a patriot and an American as I or anyone else who professes pride.

Mrs. Obama should never be First Lady.

Well said, Debbie!

amen sista!!! :)

My country has been many things, both during my life and well before. But it has always been, and will always be, my country, first, last, always. I am proud to be an American, and so many citizens -- police, fire, emergency services, military, and every day folks -- do the things that make and perpetuate my pride in this unmatched country on Earth. I don't begrudge folks from other countries and cultures their pride in their own; but I will never put their pride, their culture, or their country, above my own. I know that makes me mean-spirited in the eyes of the panty-waste Left and progressives here. I don't care. I am an American, first, last, always, period. My flag first, last, always, period. My country first, last, always, period. God bless America and God bless our military.

Any offense taken, kindly stuff it ;)
