Wars, famines, world economic problems, ... Thank Al Gore
Some crazies want to give PLANTS the same 'rights' that humans have. Animals now have rights, so it seems obvious to some that plants should have equal rights. Al Gore considered environmentalists more important, more heroic, than American soldiers. (see Bob McCarty Writes)
I'm wondering when this insanity will stop and sane people will turn on the Al-Gorites. News comes to light each day that global warming, better know by it's more politically correct label as 'climate change', is FAKE, no truth in it at all.
“What could possibly go wrong?” That’s what members of Congress probably thought when they started shoveling bigger subsidies at ethanol producers. Now, with food riots erupting in some parts of the world, we have our answer: a lot.Other factors -- a weak dollar, high energy costs, low crop yields in places such as Australia -- have played a role in this crisis. But diverting food to fuel is clearly a contributor, and it exacerbates the situation.
How serious is the problem? According to U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, without emergency intervention “we risk again the specter of widespread hunger, malnutrition and social unrest on an unprecedented scale.” The world needs more food -- especially corn, large amounts of which are being used for fuel.
People, of course, consume corn, and it’s in nearly every processed food we buy. Livestock, too, feed on corn. Some chickens eat 40 pounds of it in a matter of weeks. So a jump in the price drives up prices in just about every aisle of the supermarket. Not surprisingly, the U.N. found that the market prices of cereals, dairy produce, meat, sugar and oils rose 57 percent from March 2007 to March 2008. (Food & Federal Fuel Follies,

Some believe that "the crisis hasn’t reached our shores yet, but hold onto your hat. The world is experiencing its first serious food crisis in years, and it could soon be coming to your pantry." I think we are feeling the pinch already here in the US.
When President Bush announced last week that he is calling on Congress for an additional $770 million in international “food aid,” I had just returned from a trip to the grocery store and was feeling less than charitable upon hearing that he wanted to give more aid to countries (such as the terrorist, America-hating states of Somalia and the Sudan) that we have been “feeding” for over 50 years. But fear not; Bush included needy Americans in his discussion:“Here at home, we're working to ensure that our poorest citizens get the food they need. Since 2001, the administration in working with Congress has increased funding for nutrition assistance programs by 76 percent. We've adjusted food stamp benefits annually to cover price increases at the checkout counter. And last month the Agriculture Department made available an additional $150 million to respond to the food needs of those who depend on WIC – the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. With this new funding, we will have increased our support for WIC by 18.6 percent this year.”But what was missing from Bush’s speech was the toll that high fuel prices and food are taking on working Americans – those of us who are paying for this increase in foreign aid – aid that has done nothing in my lifetime but spawn more dependence on the government. This dependence has also spawned more crime and insolence by those wanting more under the guise of “entitlement.” (‘Free Food’ Puts a Bad Taste in My Mouth, by Renee E. Taylor at Family Security Matters)

A notable story of recent months should have been the evidence pouring in from all sides to cast doubts on the idea that the world is inexorably heating up. The proponents of man-made global warming have become so rattled by how the forecasts of their computer models are being contradicted by the data that some are rushing to modify the thesis.... virtually no coverage has been given to the abnormally deep spring snow which prevented the completion of a new building on Snowdon's summit for more than a month, and nearly made it miss the deadline for £4.2 million of EU funding. (Brussels eventually extended the deadline to next autumn.)
Two weeks ago, as North America emerged from its coldest and snowiest winter for decades, the US National Climate Data Center, run by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued a statement that snow cover in January on the Eurasian land mass had been the most extensive ever recorded, and that in the US March had been only the 63rd warmest since records began in 1895.
The evil empire of Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer, continues to have low prices on medications, and has even expanded their discount drug program for shoppers.
The move marks the third phase of a company program that began in 2006 to provide a 30-day supply of generic prescription drugs for $4. The Bentonville-based company said the program has saved customers more than $1 billion.
Their food, clothing, and gasoline prices continue to be a good price and value for Americans. We need every penny we can save these days, no thanks to the left-wing loonies.

Sorry...it's probably all my fault.
See, back in '04, on the eve of Thanksgiving, PETA came out with their annual cryfest for turkeys, and urged all to go TOFURKEY.
I decided on a counteraction. I sent PETA a letter to their US, UK and German HQs, under the guise of the "Veggie Avenger". I blasted their mindless campaign for all living animals, with not one whit of care about living, thriving, photosynthesizing plant life.
The letter went unanswered. That is, until freaks that lap up AlGore's crap got ahold of it.
Oops...sorry....going back to pour melted cheddar over shrieking broccoli, before it's outlawed....

Ya know, between PETA and these plant lovers, we're gonna get awfully hungry one of these days...
