Three wives, 19 children, tortured by Muslim man in California

The 22 family members of Mansa Musa Muhummed, age 55 and whose given name is Richard Boddie, described being beaten; strung up by their feet in a dark basement room; and forced to eat vomit and feces. Welfare workers supposedly checked on the family since they received public assistance, but the wives and children were so afraid of Muhummer they lied, saying he "he was the best parent in the world." MURRIETA, Calif. - For weeks, the three wives of Mansa Musa Muhummed and most of their 19 children have been telling a jury countless stories of torture and starvation that they kept to themselves for years. "It is the worst case we've ever heard of," prosecutor Julie Baldwin said last week.

The alleged atrocities went undetected by social service agencies, and police now have Muhummed, 55, facing up to seven life sentences if convicted of a raft of abuse charges. [snip]

He has pleaded not guilty to charges of torturing seven of the children, abusing 12 of them and falsely imprisoning two wives. The trial delays may have hurt his case because his children — once reluctant to talk to authorities — are now telling strangers of extreme deprivation, physical abuse and starvation.

Standing just 4-foot-6 and weighing about 98 pounds, Sharon Boddie, 27, told jurors last week that she had grown and gained weight since her father was arrested nine years ago and the children were sent to foster or group homes. But she still has scars from beatings and burns. She said she was taken out of school in second grade because she kept running away and teachers no longer wanted her there because she stole other children's lunches. [snip]

Doctors said the children were extremely malnourished. A 19-year-old daughter was 4-foot-1 and weighed 56 pounds. After moving to rural Riverside County, they lived for about three years in a van at a Muslim campground, Sharon Boddie testified. The van had no running water or gas for cooking. Baldwin said Muhummed had no known occupation. [snip]

Muhummed has told authorities he believed his Muslim religion allowed him to have multiple wives. [snip]

It was [another wife Linda] Cowan who finally got the attention of authorities when Muhummed took her with him to a post office and she slipped a 13-page letter about the abuse to a postal clerk. [snip]

The brothers and sisters have said they were denied use of a bathroom and could not bathe for weeks at a time or wash their clothes. Sometimes, Boddie took them in the yard and hosed them down. I am not sure about what made him do such pathetic behavior. I personally think that he religion cannot be held to blame for a human's activity, the real reasons might have been whatsoever. Never ever any religion teaches us killing. It was absolutely his personal choice. But no religion would ever support his actions.

Seriously though you Westerners are insane, look around you, despite the fact you control virtually all of the world's resources, all of the worlds production, and most of the worlds talent (that which you don't produce you attract), your civilization is riddled with horrible hell holes like this, like Josef Fritzl's house of Horrors, Ing and Laikes ranch of depravity, and so many other horror stories it isn't even funny.

I also read on Jihad Watch (an anti Muslim website), that Richard's third wife was a married woman whose husband went to jail (and if I am not mistaken but her and her husband where Muslims).

As far as I know a man can only take a married woman as his wife if her husband is an infidel and she has been captured on the battlefield (many cultures, even the British during their campaigns against the Afghans in the 19th century, let their high ranking officials bring their wives on campaigns).

Now no doubt many things in the Islamic faith are not accepted or endorsed by the West (honestly though a society that lets 1 in 4 teenage girls contract an STD has little room to lecture us on morals), but please get your facts straight.

This man did nothing according to Islam.

Yes in Islam a man can take a second, third, or fourth wife provided he can support them and treat them equally, yes under certain circumstances he can marry a woman whose marriage has not been dissolved with her husbands knowledge, and yes a man may even beat a wife who is flirtacious with other men after he first goes through a series of steps warninig her to correct her action, but he didn't do any of these things.

This man did not provide for his family, he apparently married a woman who was already married, he had two of his wives living in the garage (clearly not treating them equally) and straved his children (please find an hadith or verse from the Quran which supports this, to think a nation of 1.5 billion would condone this behavior is insane), and forced his children to eat feces and vomit (again this type of abuse is not permitted).

Please tell me how the actions of an African American convert should reflect all of the Punjabis, Arabs, Malays, Hausa, Turks, Iranians, and other Muslims.

Again Islam is a faith most Westerners will find unacceptable (again what can be said of societies that let minors have sex with adults, but doesn't allow them to marry those adults, rent an apartment, open a checkings out account without parental consent, in some cases obtain a drivers license, travel outside of the country without parental consent, how can anyone think highly of such a civilizations opinion), but please get your facts straight.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, as I noted he was a Muslim convert, but he plainly stated that he believed his religion allowed him to do these things.

Whether it was the religion or he was just an evil human, as you say it's wrong. Also as we both stated, Children's Services dropped the ball on this and I think they should be held accountable in some way.

The man was an African American Convert, his name is Richard Boddie, they covered it in CNN and Foxnews today (two weeks after the AP and when the verdict was announced). All of those involved where African Americans (none except the children were born Muslims).

Also to the ignorant man who compares the lack of coverage of this to the raid on the YFZ ranch, the FLDS raid was done by the state of Texas and involved hundreds of people being taken into state custody at the cost of some $27 million dollars, this incident involves one family and a trial, 9 years after the man's detention by police.

Also in Islam this man is required to provide seperate dwellings for his wives.

Furthermore it is powerfully stupid to judge Muslims on this creatures actions. It is more appropriate to judge the society and system that allowed this man to abuse his family for so long. This isn't the only case out their like this in America and I ask what type of society (especially one with all of the infrastructure and communication as the U.S.) allows for horrible stuff like this to happen.

I would gladly trade my so called freedom (the right to screw up other people's lives) and submit to roll call everday and GPS implant if it would prevent animals like Richard Boddie and Josef Fritzl from exacting their reign of terror.

MR: I agree. I would have published this no matter what the religion of the man. But the fact that he believed his religion allowed him to have three wives (inside the United States, where this is unquestionably against the law, is an important point.)

Why do you expect every single Muslim person in the entire world to be 100% perfect?

Yes he may be Muslim, but that doesn't mean he is always good. There are bad Muslims all over the world. There are bad Christians all over the world. There are bad Jews all over the world. That doesn't mean all the Muslims, Jews and Christians are bad.

I'm Muslim. I condem this. This has nothing to do with Islam. He treated his family in the most disgusting and violent way. This is madness. He should face the worse punishment death or life in jail.

Maybe I should start posting about Christian mothers who drown their babies, beat there babies and kids with game controllers to death, or leave their babies in thier cars locked suffocating them to death.
