You have one day to live ... what do you do?

This is a question asked often in Christian churches and Sunday School classes, "You find out you only have one day to live, how do you spend that day?"  The obvious religiously-correct answer is, "I go visit all my friends and family that are now Christian, who are not saved, and I witness to them."  But in reality humans are not always so noble.  Let's put that obvious and very important answer aside and be human.  What would you do?

Would the day be business or pleasure?  Would you plan a big party or go out to your favorite club and enjoy your last day on earth?  Would you eat your favorite meal, play your favorite music, attend your favorite play?  Maybe fly somewhere you have never been before?

Would you spend the day with family and friends?  Would you tell those people that this was your last day?  Or would you write letters to those close to you, giving them a tangible good-bye they could keep forever?  Will you go fishing, camping, hiking?

Would you rush around trying to make last minute plans, prepare a Will, write down important numbers of insurance policies and bank accounts for your family?  Maybe you would take a bubble bath, fix your hair, put on your favorite outfit, so you would look nice in your last hours alive and in your early hours of death?

I want you to think about this, and then pretend that today, or tomorrow, is the last day of your life.  Live it as if it really is your last day on this earth.  What will you do?

I'm not being morbid, the truth is it will be the last day for many people around the world.  A crane could fall on you;  an earthquake or tornado could be the grim reaper, you could be hit by a car, shot while shopping, killed in battle,  anything.  God intended for us to LIVE and enjoy life.  Go for it!  Stop and smell the flowers in your life and be thankful.

(This message has been brought to you by all those who have gone on before you.)

Great answers everyone. It is a hard question and I imagine each of our answers would be different. Always On Watch and I are on the same page on this one. I might throw a good meal in, after all it's the last meal we will ever need for this body.

It's probably a good thing that we do NOT know when we are going to die. God's smart about those things.

1. Make love with my husband.

2. Play the piano.

3. Phone my best friend.

4. Pray -- not only for myself but for the ones I love.

5. Spend special time with my four cats.

The above are in no particular order.

Life is so fleeting...one day you're here, and sometimes, the next day, you're not (ask whether it is better to die suddenly, or only after experiencing a long a painful illness). As for your question, I don't think I could answer it honestly in public (and maybe not at all).

That is one of those questions that is asked everywhere. There is no one answer to it.

I like that answer David. Rest up for all the celebrations etc. in Heaven.

Depends. Under some circumstances, I might just take a nap. (Gonna be a real busy afterlife for me, I imagine. :-))
