Wal-Mart Goes Halal

It's bad enough that Wal-Mart has contributed to Hispanic in the United States NOT integrating into the American society by putting Spanish labels on meat and other products and publishing special Spanish advertisements. From The Arab American News: "Wal-mart Caters to Arabs." The new Wal-Mart in Dearborn, Michigan provides "halal meat, which is located in a closed- off area of the meat section..." Hat tip to The Outraged Spleen of Zion who asks "when is Wal-mart opening the Kosher Superstore in Borough Park?" Good question.

I have no problem with stores carrying ethnic products, we all love to buy and cook something other than Southern Fried chicken. But I believe when people come to this country, they should come here legally and they should become American -- learn our language, and assimilate into American culture. Wal-Mart, or any other business, does America no good whatsoever when they aide immigrants in NOT assimilating.

I don't care what nation they come from, what language they USED to speak, they need to become American if they want to live here. America should NOT change for the immigrants like Britain and other European countries have done. OUR CULTURE IS JUST THAT -- OURS. If you come here you should become part of our culture. Period.

Wal-Mart's Professional Development Training Coordinator, Suehaila Amen, was hired to provide diversity training to the store's employees. She said that Wal-Mart has been a source of support to the Arab American community for years, by providing scholarships and sponsoring local community events.

 "Wal-Mart is making a concerted effort to reach out to the Arab American and American Muslim communities," stated Amen. "They have had a strong presence in the local community for years, and have always supported our local organizations.

Their presence in Dearborn provides us with a great opportunity to build bridges with one of the largest corporations in the world." Wal-Mart began its process of researching the local market two years ago. They held numerous focus groups with local imams and potential customers, in order to gain a better understanding of the community and its needs.

AGREED. I'm terrible at langauges and have spent 5 years of my life in 2 different countries where I did not learn the language - but I never expected to be catered to and sometimes bought food I didn' recognize etc. But that was my own fault - no complaints. America is bending over backwards and it should not be. If you cannot learn the language then get along without it but don't expect the American taxpayers, American companies, etc. to accommodate you.

If you guys decided to think a little before you wrote this you would understand that this isnt a culture, it is a religion. Have respect - its a religion of God. And if there is access to kosher food for our jewish peoples, then it should be equal for muslims as well. This isnt about being "less american" - in fact it is very american to be giving and accommodating. I am proud to be a born american that is muslim. I pay my taxes, love my country and respect everyone else. Why cant other people do the same?

FYI ya'll being a Muslim doors not mean u are an arab. we have to eat meat that is killed in a certain way so that the animal did not suffer, with the Islamic killing the animal dies quickly and no stress hormones are caused throughout the body which makes the meat healthier for the human beings and it's healthier death for the animal. ' I was born in raised right here in the USA, like thousands and thousands of other Americans who were born and white or black or whatever color, I have chosen to revert to Islam because it was the original religion of Moses Noah Abraham Jesus the only worship 1 God and that's what Islam is about and not taking on any partners. if you read in the Bible Jesus Christ even said not to worship him but to worship 1 god. by the way the Arabic word for God is Allah, it's the same God we have all the same profits is the Christians and Jews. so even I await girl who was born in raised in the USA needs to eat only halalo meat and very much wish is that the Super Walmart in Wisconsin would sell halal meat as well. I bet you all missed the fact that in the 1 year after 9 11 happened over 34,000 US citizens became mushrooms because they actually researched what Islam really is. fortunately it's a choice and not brainwashing that we grew up with so even so even those of us like me who were born in raised Christian actually took the time to read the Bible and saw the sick twisted sings dinner in it research this lump and found that there's even scientific proof in Islam
