Iran is continuing it's threats against the United States and Israel: Iran will strike Israel and the US navy in the Gulf if it is attacked over its nuclear program. On the one hand, we need to take Iran's threats seriously, but on the other hand I fear some people see them like the Boy Who Cried Wolf, and don't really pay attention to those threats any longer.
"Tel Aviv and the US fleet in the Persian Gulf would be the targets that would be set on fire," [snip]
"The Iranian nation will never accept bullying. The Iranian nation is a nation of believers which believes in jihad and martyrdom. No army in the world can confront it," he said.
Guns of August Spiked? Is the United States heading into a deadly confrontation with Iran? Congressman Ron Paul of Texas, the unsuccessful maverick Republican presidential candidate,
warned millions of radio listeners this is now inevitable. He cited
House Congressional Resolution 362, lobbied hard by the American Israel
Public Affairs Committee, as a "Virtual Iran War Resolution."
Whatever happens, you can be sure media like the New York Times will leak any information ahead of time. They fall into the appeaser category, in case you wondered.
Congress Looks At EMP ‘Electro Magnetic Pulse’ Bomb Threat From Iran (WND)
More than four years after a stunning report about America’s vulnerability to a nuclear electromagnetic pulse attack was released to Congress, the House Armed Services Committee will hear testimony from the scientist who issued the warning and who believes Iran is pursuing such an option. [snip]
William R. Graham, President Reagan’s top science adviser and the chairman of the Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack, warned in 2005 that Iran was not only covertly developing nuclear weapons, but was already testing ballistic missiles specifically designed to destroy America’s technical infrastructure with the aim of neutralizing the world’s lone superpower.
The radical Shiite regime has conducted successful tests to determine if its Shahab-3 ballistic missiles, capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, can be detonated by a remote-control device while still in high-altitude flight, Graham said in his report.
Hundreds of endangered monkeys are being taken from the African bush
and sent to a “secretive” laboratory in Iran for scientific experiments. (AKI) (National Terror Alert)
More than 215 endangered monkeys have been sold to Iran by a Tanzanian dealer and sent to a laboratory known for conducting experiments into biological weapons, according to a British media report.
An inquiry by the London daily, The Sunday Times, revealed that the endangered Vervet monkeys had been sold to the Razi Vaccine & Serum Research Institute in Karaj, located 50 kilometres west of Tehran.
The lyric from the old pop song that proclaimed "Don't Know Much About History," is a label that could well be applied to many Americans. [snip]
In recent months, two works questioning the justice of the fight against Nazi Germany have vaulted onto The New York Times bestseller list: Human Smoke by Nicholson Baker and Churchill, Hitler and the Unnecessary War by Patrick Buchanan. ... Their books are as different as the authors. [snip]
Both take the point of view that, while Adolf Hitler was a bad guy, he was provoked into launching a world war that he had not planned on. Instead of heaping blame on the Nazi monsters who launched the war and carried out unprecedented war crimes as well as the cold-blooded murder of six million Jews, each see Winston Churchill as the real villain of the war. Had Hitler been left alone, they both assert, the Holocaust would not have happened and the world would be a saner place today. (continue reading)
Sound familiar today??? How about this:
Are British Muslims treated like Jews in 1930's Germany: (must read article)
Yesterday - Monday July 7, 2008 - was the third anniversary of the suicide bombings on London Transport. Mohammed Sidique Khan, Shehzad Tanweer and Jermaine Lindsay blew themselves up on underground trains, while Hasib Hossain boarded a Number 30 bus and detonated his rucksack in Tavistock Square. Fifty-two people were killed and hundreds were injured.
On British television, a documentary was broadcast on Channel 4, entitled "It Shouldn't Happen To a Muslim." This was produced by Peter Oborne, and it asserted that Muslims have become demonized in British society.
In an article in the Independent newspaper, Peter Oborne argued that Islamophobia is the new "British disease." ... Oborne finishes off his article with a call for collective guilt on the part of the British public and establishment: "We should all feel ashamed about the way we treat Muslims, [snip]
At present, politicians, Christian leaders and members of the judiciary appear to be attempting to change society to make it more accommodating to Muslims. When I hear people like Peter Oborne and others comparing the situation of Muslims in Britain to the plight of Jews under Hitler I am perplexed. At no stage did politicians or religious leaders attempt to change German society to make it more user-friendly to Jews.
Appeasers indeed make very poor patriots.

I represent a small nonprofit McCain fundraising group called NObama, NO Way! and we're trying to send a bunch of t-shirts to our troops in Iraq who want them. See www.cafepress.com/nobamanoway

Debbie, don't you remember my post a while back in which there was a picture of Putin and Amahdinajad:
Iranian Reactor to Open in 2008 (http://tinyurl.com/63p2ka)
There were others. We've had the warnings. The quesiton is how we and the World respond. Hopefully without a knee jerk.

Russia and Iran at one time, wow, that's an interesting concept.
As I said, too many are looking at Iran's bluster as just that ... talk. I personally think they are just itching to ACT. Another missile test this morning from Iran...

I've discussed scenarios of a Persian Gulf War against Iran with navy buddies of mine. It will not be a pretty sight. Imagine what it looks like when an aircraft carrier is slugged with a 2,000 lb missile moving at mach speed. It gets split in two. Yet we still have no defensive measures against the Russian Sunburn missile - not even the navy's closed-in weapons system (CIWS) can stop it.
However, in a week's time, we can obliterate the Iranian war machine, including the destruction of every single asset of their nuclear program.
But to add to the delight, the Russians are saying that they will launch strikes if Iran is harmed in any way. Only problem is, Russia can barely feed itself let alone worry about striking western powers, which would open up a hornet's nest.
If we played our cards correctly we could knock out Russia AND Iran. I recently blogged about Russia's obstinate stance against the west. Such a waste of good time and valuable resources. We should be working with the Russians instead of fighting them.
Good title to this blog post. I think of McCain when I read this and I wonder: Does he have the pair needed to launch a strike against Iran, or will he appease?

Payambar e Azam 3 is what the IRGC is calling their current exercise and all the research shows two things - Iran's regime is prepping for a war and those missile drills actually look like the mullahs are ready to try and shut down the Gulf faster than a Ouija Board at a Church Homecoming.

This post draws a Chamberlainesque parallel between today's World stage and that of 1936-38. I do not agree with that comparison. Further, I do not believe that attempting to negotiate a path forward to avoid nuclear conflagration and holocaust in Israel is wrong. But negotiation is not appeasement. That is not to say that war and conflict is not an option, because it is. I realize that taking this position opens me to accusations that I am an appeaser, or worse, that I am a "poor patriot." Of course, that would be simple drivel.
The World is a dangerous place...one of the dangers is that in the blogosphere, people, even well-intended people, profer opinions that are dangerous, and yet, people read them and then appropriate them as their own. To judge someone's patriotism by their outlook on World events is wrong.
This, of course, is simply my opinion, and not intended to disrespect anyone.

My complements to you on this great post. And you are so right. Appeasers do not make good patriots, but they do make good cowards. Keep up the good work here. Our fight to save this country has just begun.

Tomahawk cruise missile: a perfect present for Shehzad Tanweer martyrdom party. But as much as this "party" is spitting in the faces of 7/7 victims and their families, British government is partly responsible. The Brits had no business giving the body to the family. It should have been ground up and used as dog food.
