Iraq WMD shipped to Syria

This is what we have believed to be true for years.  Now we have this report:

A former American overseer of Iraqi prisons says several dozen inmates who were members of Saddam Hussein's military and intelligence forces boasted of helping transport weapons of mass destruction to Syria  and Lebanon in the three months prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Don Bordenkircher – who served two years as national director of prison and jail operations in Iraq– told WND that about 40 prisoners he spoke with "boasted of being involved in the transport of WMD warheads to Syria.

A smaller number of prisoners, he said, claimed "they knew the locations of the missile hulls buried in Iraq."

Some of the inmates, Bordenkircher said, "wanted to trade their information for a release from prison and were amenable to showing the locations."

The prisoners were members of the Iraqi military or civilians assigned to the Iraqi military, often stationed at munitions facilities, according to Bordenkircher. He said he was told the WMDs were shipped by truck into Syria, and some ended up in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley.  (continue reading at WND)

No surprise here really.  We had reports and video of trucks moving toward Syria at the time.  Saddam knew the US would be looking for these WMD, he wanted to get them to a safe place for two reasons:  (1) to embarrass the United States and (2) to make it possible to retrieve the WMD and easily resume his weapons program once the UN gave the all clear pronouncement.  According to the report, the shipments "included nitrogen mustard gas warheads for Tariq I and II missiles."

Also confirmed in this report is the presence of, training and safe harbor for, al-Qaeda prior to the war.

Bordenkircher also said prisoners confirmed al-Qaida had a presence in Iraq before Operation Iraqi Freedom began, specifically in Mosul  and Kirkuk.

Iraqis under the command of Uday Hussein, one of Saddam Hussein's sons, supported the al-Qaida elements in the country with training and providing safe harbor, they said.

Terrorist Underwear?

Would-be suicide bombers may now be packing more than just the bare necessities in their underwear, and no, it’s not a terrorist fashion statement. Suicide underwear, rather than explosives jackets and suicide belts appear to make it easier for suicide bombers to evade “conservative” body searches.

A study by India’s Sihala Police College forensic lab sources states that recent suicide attacks were carried out by suicide bombers used “explosives-laden” under-garments, briefs in particular, to carry out the attacks.

The study said that the explosives could weigh between five kilograms to seven kilograms, made deadly by adding glass splinters, metal ball bearings and bullets. ( you can write your punch line here )

Law enforcement officers normally search upper body parts sparing the “privates”, the study said, hence assailants are increasingly using the lower body parts to dodge the searches. The study said that forensic experts were trying to devise methods to preempt suicide bombing. The experts have achieved successes in “Post Bombing Investigation,” the sources said, adding that resources are sharpening “Pre-Bombing Investigation” techniques.

This will obviously put to rest the age-old question… Terrorists, boxers or briefs?

How is the economy really?

How is the economy really?  Dave Ramsey asked that question on his radio show yesterday and the emails came flooding in.  What was the overwhelming response?  Things are GOOD, very good.

Real Estate:  Personal accounts from listeners reported that homes were selling in record time, at record prices.  Sellers were getting their asking prices and in some cases had buyers in a bidding war, thus upping the sale price.  Owners thought it might take 6 months to a year to sell -- wrong.  Sales were signed, sealed and delivered within weeks.

Mortgages, construction, construction products, and all related items -- you guessed it, doing great.

Gas Prices:  Truckers informed Dave Ramsey that their businesses were great, actually breaking records from 2007 on income.  One trucker who bought a truck last year said that running his small business the right way had allowed him to not only make money, but save money in the first year of business. 

Gas prices have been slowly coming down, but as has happened year after year, they will go back up for the next holiday.  Could it be that the markets are actually working the way they are supposed to?

Business:  All the businesses who responded to Dave reported thriving businesses.  Sales, income, profits were already surpassing 2007 in the first six months of 2008.

Businesses connected to 'hobbies' and 'recreation', who usually have problems when the economy is bad -- are thriving.  One business dealing with 'collectibles' like baseball cards, is surpassing last years numbers and business is great.

Sales of new in-ground swimming pools and other type home recreation were up in record numbers.   In one case profits in ONE MONTH of 2008, were higher than the entire 2007 year.

One business, landscaping, said business was so good that they couldn't find enough employees to hire.  Why?  Because people are WORKING.

I could go on and on, but you get the idea.  There is concern about 'change' that might occur if minimum wage is increased to $10.00 as Obama wants; concern if taxes on small businesses and hard-working families are increased; concern if socialized health care is forced on individuals and businesses.

So there you have it.  We are NOT in a recession and if government will keep OUT of things and let people do what they do best, this country will be more than fine.

“Master? Master?” Haytham scampered forward until he found the edge of the manhole. He retrieved a match from his pocket and lit it, providing a brief moment to gaze upon his surroundings. The opening appeared seemingly out of nowhere – to where he wouldn’t have expected to find such an orifice arising out of a drainage channel – and his inadequate lighting revealed only a small steel ladder descending into the blackness below. He thought that he could see a body lying in the distance but the light faded quickly as the match burned out.

Haytham needed more light. Even though he was physically capable of descending the ladder, to do so without visual aid would certainly allow the prospect of his becoming just as immobile as his master and so he scooted back a ways to formulate a plan. Given the circumstances, he had found himself less afraid of detection than of abandoning his leader and heading off into a foreign land on his own and so he ignited another matched and quickly scoured the drainage trough for anything of value.

To his immediate left, he saw a few sticks lying scattered upon the concrete but it was what rested a few meters towards his right that caught his attention. Obviously tossed from some inconsiderate pedestrian outside of the channel was a clear vodka bottle with its neck shattered. He hoped – prayed – that it still held some of its contents.

Quickly moving over towards the broken liquor bottle, Haytham found to his delight that the fractured container held a moderate some of the clear beverage and he quickly picked it up by the safe end before the match burned downed into a reddish ember. Crouching, he scurried off towards where he remembered seeing the lying sticks, exercising extreme caution to avoid the open deathtrap.

It took several minutes of hand searching before he found a piece of wood sufficient in length to use as a torch and immediately tore off his left sleeve and wrapped the cloth around the stick. Next, he poured some of the vodka over the material and retrieved another match from his pocket to ignite the liquor.

For an agonizing few seconds, the match seemed to dissipate with no effect upon the fabric. Haytham cursed softly; he had very few matches, only a small vial retrieved from Muhammad’s stolen tactical vest. He was about to reach for another one when he noticed a faint bluish glow work its way ever so slowly from the match towards the end of the cloth wrapped around the stick. Gingerly, he upended the torch until the aqua flame grew more intense and finally ushered in a larger and more pronounced yellow glow.

“Praise be yours Allah.” Haytham exhaled softly as the torch began to burn more brightly. Sacrificing security for practicality, the young Arab moved slowly towards the manhole, carefully positioning his torch so that the flames would not burn out before he had a chance of descending into the hole. Retrieving the broken vodka bottle, still possessing a bit of liquor, he tucked the container into his trousers making sure that the sharp end pointed away from his person.

The metallic ladder was damp with dew and the subterranean chamber smelled foul with human wastes but Haytham climbed down as quickly as he could. Beneath his feet, about ten meters down, he could see the outline of his master curled up in a ball with the putrid sewage flowing almost imperceptibly around his body. Haytham wanted to chuckle at the sight – his Lord supreme master lying amongst a pool of infidel secretions – but the realization that it was he, a small and insignificant Arab student, that laid Muhammad amongst the contemptible sewage displayed before him which shattered such joy from fully taking root.

“Master Muhammad?” Haytham spoke, trying to find a sufficiently clean portion of the large man to shake. “Master, are you okay?”

It took some effort of the part of the student, but the unconscious man finally showed some reaction to his prodding.

“Master!” Haytham continued.

“Where am I?” the large man asked lazily. “Where are we?”

“You fell through a manhole. It was dark, we couldn’t see it.” Haytham danced around the truth; he hoped that his master wouldn’t remember the facts. “We’re underneath the drainage channel.”

Muhammad’s face showed eerily within the orange-yellow glow of the torch; his face covered completely with the human excrement that saturated the water of the chamber. “I feel sick.” he spoke, then turned sideways to vomit upon the water with a hoarse gagging sound.

“I fear that it is not too clean down here.” Haytham offered, hoping to regain the vantage of the surface. “Are you injured so that you might not be able to climb the ladder?”

The elder man felt around his body, then crouched down low against the water as he allowed his senses to finally catch up with reality. “I don’t possess any major abnormalities. Where’s my rifle, young man?”

Haytham shone his torch around the immediate vicinity. He knew instinctively that there was only one place where the weapon could be – hidden beneath the brownish liquid.

“Well, young man?” scolded Muhammad groggily. “Where is my rifle?”

“It must be beneath the water somewhere.” Haytham swallowed a lump, a clog of phlegm that dripped as lazily as did the water beneath his feet flow. Knowing that ultimately his hands would have to dip into the thick liquid, he decided to use his already soaked feet to search the foul smelling and slippery environment for the submerged Kalashnikov.

“Well, find it.” Muhammad stood up slowly, gazing into the darkness towards his left. “This tunnel seems to trail into that direction. Is that not the way in which we were traveling?”

Haytham paused briefly in his search. “Yes, Master. The ladder is positioned on the side from which we came.”

“Good.” Muhammad spoke, apparently losing thought of the filth in which the two men stood contemplating their future. “We will travel through this tunnel. Perhaps we can escape the attention of those searching above. Let’s gather our belongings and make haste.”

“Yes, Master.” Haytham replied hesitantly, preparing himself to follow Muhammad through the mysterious path of human waste into the unknown. I would’ve preferred that we travel up there in civilization with the better smelling infidels.

UPDATE ON Two American Children Free from Taliban Madrassa

Two American Children Free from Taliban Madrassa, as discussed at Karachi Kids.com, has now been refuted by a CNN video, watch video here. (hat tip to reader Syed)   CNN says "the independent filmmaker may have confused the madrassa with one with a similar name tied to Islamic extremists", and the filmmaker admits his mistake.  In my opinion that is one whopper of a mistake for filmmaker Imran Raza, as this entire episode, including a law being presented to congress, was BASED UPON THIS BEING A TALIBAN-Like madrassa. 

However, CNN goes on to say, "The school is home to as many as 500 boys and girls from 29 countries and teaches Sunni Deobandi Islam, a theology that analysts say is associated with some militant groups in Pakistan."  So, this IS a madrassa that DOES teach a form of Islam that is ASSOCIATED with militant groups in Pakistan.  So, would CNN employees send their children there for classes???  Does this make it a GOOD place for American children to be sent? 

And another question, why are these children not in American schools for these years rather than in Pakistani madrassas?  Do the American school systems give these kids CREDIT for attending madrasses rather than having than attending classes here in the US?  Just asking?

The madrassa the boys attended isn't linked to bin Laden or Muslim radicals; instead, it's one the U.S. State Department says is preferred by Pakistani-Americans for its moderate Islamic teachings and one recently visited by a top U.S. diplomat in Pakistan.

How could the filmmaker have got it so wrong? He blames the error on researchers he says he has since dismissed. 

"I do need to take responsibility for these things in terms of these were errors that sort of spun out of control," filmmaker Imran Raza said. "I have to take responsibility for the mistakes. I take responsibility for the error in the allegation that Osama bin Laden was there. I take responsibility for the error that some of the Taliban leaders were there."

CNN learned about brothers, Noor and Mehboob Khan, ages 17 and 16, when Raza offered CNN the documentary this summer. The film focuses on the brothers, whose father, a Pakistani-born taxi driver in Atlanta, Georgia, sent them to Pakistan to get them in touch with their religious heritage.

In the film, Raza describes the teens as captives being force-fed radical jihad. In interviews over three years, the boys describe their longing for America and say the terrorist attacks of September 11 weren't carried out by Muslims. One of the brothers described punishment by beatings at the madrassa.

Raza started a campaign to return the boys to the United States. McCaul offered to help, even asking Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf to intervene.  (continue reading)

Tom Burnett Sr. and Alec Rawls will be in Somerset PA this weekend to condemn the crescent/broken-circle memorial to Flight 93. Here is Alec's notice about the press conference that he and Mr. Burnett will host after they speak at the public meeting of the Memorial Project Saturday morning:

...Also on the press conference panel will be Diane Gramley, President of the American Family Association of Pennsylvania, and the Reverend Ron McRae of Johnstown.

In addition to our own statements, Mr. Burnett will read a statement from Congressman John Kline (R-MN), and Alec Rawls will present statements from Rich Davis, founder of the Chester County Victory Movement, and from Khalim Massoud, President of Muslims Against Sharia Law.

After answering questions for the press, Mr. Burnett and his co-panelists will host a rally to stop the re-hijacking of Flight 93. Members of our informal Western Pennsylvania Compatriots group (who spoke out at the last public meeting) will be in attendance, and some out of town folks will be coming as well.

To inform and invite the local populace, a half-page full-color ad will be running in tomorrow’s edition of the Somerset Daily American. It explains how the original Crescent of Embrace design remains completely intact in the Circle of Embrace redesign, which is explicitly described by the Park Service itself as a “broken” circle. That is exactly how architect Paul Murdoch described his original Crescent design.

All the redesign does is include an extra arc of trees that explicitly represents a broken off part of the circle. The unbroken part of the circle (the crescent), remains exactly as it was. It is still a giant Islamic shaped crescent, still pointing to Mecca , as your colleague Kirk Swauger verified a year ago:

Rawls maintains that the midpoint between the tips of the crescent points almost precisely toward “qibla,” the direction to Mecca, which Muslims are supposed to face for prayer.

His claims seem to be backed up by coordinates for the direction of qibla from Somerset that can be found on Islam.com. When superimposed over the crescent in the memorial design, the midpoint points over the Arctic Circle, through Europe toward Mecca.

Except for Kirk’s verification of the Mecca orientation of the crescent (which was not picked up by any other news organization), reporters have not been bothering to check the facts. When our claim that there are to be 44 inscribed translucent blocks emplaced along the flight path was reported a few months ago, Gordon Felt, President of Families of Flight 93 was quoted denying it, but despite this clear conflict of factual claims, no reporter bothered to simply open up the design drawings and count.

Can reporters actually be shamed into doing their jobs? Doubtful. They seem to regard actually checking the facts as giving some kind of unfair advantage to the side that is right (which they would be happy do do if the right side was THEIR side).

When the press is in this anti-fact-checking mode, their methodology is just to quote each side. We are trying to take advantage of this behavior by having some of our independent supporters use source documents to fact-check our basic claims, then attest in press releases and at the public meeting that they have personally counted the translucent memorial blocks etcetera.

Co-panelist Diane Gramley will be making such declarations for the cameras. Cao (the organizer of these blogbursts) did some checking from source documents this week and has already posted a powerful press release about her findings that Alec will present at the press conference.

Tom Burnett's attendance should bring national news coverage. If Tom and Alec can direct some of that coverage to our independent fact checking, it might break the media embargo on fact checking, and once we get the Mecca orientation of the giant crescent out as verified national news, the crescent goose will be cooked.

Obama's brother, Mark Ndesandjo, and the China connection

Barack Hussein Obama’s half-brother, Mark Ndesandjo (the son of Barack Obama’s late father and his third wife, an American woman named Ruth Nidesand), has been helping to promote cheap Chinese exports in a low-profile business career. -- the flood of Chinese imports that are blamed by many Americans for destroying American jobs could be politically embarrassing [to brother Barack Obama].  TimesOnline has the story:

He has gone to extraordinary lengths to avoid public attention and his family links remain unknown to most of his acquaintances in Shenzhen, a border boomtown in southern China where he has lived since 2002.  [snip]

Chinese officials said there are unanswered questions about his internet-based company, Worldnexus Ltd. It has provided corporate communications and website design to Chinese firms seeking customers in English-speaking markets, of which the United States is the biggest.

Worldnexus is not registered to conduct business in Shenzhen and officials at the city’s commercial administration bureau said this raised potential issues of taxation and compliance with the law by its customers.

The company’s Chinese-language website promises “increased communication efficiency” to clients and lists Shenzhen exporters of electronics and machine parts among its contracts.

The website lists an office address in the west of the city but despite a search of the area and checks with local police, no such building could be located.

Nor is Worldnexus Ltd legally registered in Hong Kong, where many businesses choose to incorporate for their China trade, according to an official data check.

Contacted by The Sunday Times last week, Ndesandjo said: “Thanks for your interest. However I am not giving interviews at this time.”

He did not respond to four subsequent requests for comment.  [snip]

Obama has staked out a populist position on trade with China in the US election campaign, calling in December 2007 for a ban on all toys from Chinese factories until safety inspections were put in place.

Ndesandjo, who had an elite education in the United States, collecting a degree from Brown University, a masters in physics from Stanford and an MBA from Emory, did not share Obama’s emotional view of his roots.  (continue reading at TimesOnline)

Michelle Obama's Thesis (Family Security Matters):

Michelle LaVaughn Robinson’s thesis is obsessed with the distinction between “Blacks” and “Whites.” The words ““American” and “Americans” appear rarely in it, - seven times by my count; the expression “U.S.A.” occurs once, and “ U.S. ” once. The word “America ” does not appear in it at all. But the words “Black” and “White,” always capitalized, and always referring to racial groups, appear by my count 475 times and 181 times, respectively - in every case, judging from the context, referring to Blacks and Whites in the United States. There are no references at all to Hispanic, Asian or Amerindian Americans! It would be hard to find a more dramatic way for the author to indicate that her feeling that the United States consists of two nations, not one, and that the 20-30 million Americans who are not a part of either the “Black” or the “White” nation do not exist at all.

The thesis paper consists of 64 pages in the main body of the text, plus seven pages of prefatory material and an appendix of 27 pages. Despite occasional grammatical lapses and ambiguous language, for the most part the composition shows an impressive command both of the English language and of sociological terminology for a college senior. The thesis is organized around a questionnaire that Michelle Robinson sent to 400 Black graduates of Princeton, of whom 89 sent replies (no Whites or other non-Blacks were polled), and Robinson’s analysis of the results. Its stated goal is to discover the correlation between the “time” that the graduates “spent” with other Blacks “as opposed” (and the word “opposed” is used), to the time they spent with Whites, as well as the “ideology” of the graduates on the one hand, and their commitment to “benefit the Black community”, and “help the Black lower class” on the other. Her initial “hypothesis,” was that Blacks who spent more time with other Blacks than with Whites, and who adhered to a “separatist/pluralist” ideology, would be more eager to benefit the Black community and help the Black lower class than those who spent more time with Whites and supported an “integrationist/assimilations” philosophy. Not surprisingly, her analysis of her poll data results confirms her initial hypothesis.

  The thesis implies that Black college graduates who wish to “benefit the Black community” and to help the Black “lower class” should spend more time with Blacks than with Whites, whether in their professional work, family life or recreational activities, and adhere to a “separatist/pluralist” ideology as opposed to an “integrationist/assimilations” philosophy. This amounts to a rationale for Black separatism. 

Michelle Robinson-Obama argues that when Black people “spend time” with Whites, they lose their commitment to “benefiting” the Black community and “lower class Blacks.” She describes Blacks who have integrated into the larger society as “ignorant” of and “unmotivated” to help the Black underclass. Ironically, the only evidence from her survey of Black Princeton graduates that she cites to support her conclusion that “integrationist/assimilations” Blacks lack motivation to help the Black lower class is that they reported feeling less “helpless” about the plight of this group of Black Americans than did Black separationists!  (continue reading)

In a strange development, supporters of Barack Obama’s childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, are openly debating the nature and depth of Davis’s commitment to the Communist Party and his relationship with the Democrat candidate. The debate has gotten heated.

This unusual debate, which is taking place on Obama’s official website, raises the question once again as to why Obama has not been asked by the major media about this relationship. Davis was identified as a Communist Party member by various investigative committees and acknowledged his party membership in a private letter obtained by John Edgar Tidwell, who was sympathetic to Davis and edited his books.

In other words, the people can’t be trusted to do the right thing, so taxes (“voluntarily” given, according to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid) collected and redistributed by the government are the answer. In fact, Obama’s generosity with American tax dollars extends beyond U.S. shores to the “global community,” – to the tune of $845 billion – and his Global Poverty Act would end up making Americans subservient to the whims of the incurably corrupt UN.

 

Are shades of Evita during the 2008 presidential campaign life imitating art or art imitating life? The American voter must be the judge.

Since 9-11, homeland security agencies have caught thousands of "special interest aliens" trying to cross U.S. borders illegally. Most of the travelers, whom federal agents label "SIA" for hailing from Islamic countries, are economic or political refugees seeking better lives.

To document the hidden world of special interest immigrants, San Antonio Express-News Staff Writer Todd Bensman retraced the steps of Iraqi war refugee Aamr Bahnan Boles, who swam the Rio Grande and stepped into Texas on April 29, 2006 . Bensman traveled to Damascus, Syria; Amman, Jordan; throughout Guatemala; the southern border state of Chiapas, Mexico; Brownsville and elsewhere along he Texas border; and Michigan.

Bensman documented routes used by smugglers to move immigrants like Boles from Islamic countries, including a popular one from Syria to Texas that was used by Boles. The Express-News hired Arabic language interpreters in Syria, Jordan and Texas, where Boles first was interviewed extensively. Bensman obtained materials from overseas smuggling investigations and hundreds of daily intelligence summaries reflecting Texas border crossings by special interest immigrants.

He interviewed U.S. and Mexican law enforcement officials in both countries, and examined U.S. court records from a dozen unreported federal smuggling prosecutions involving Middle Eastern suspects. Some dialogue and scenes in this series were reconstructed based on interviews with Boles and, when possible, others who were present.

Key Findings: <----Important findings critical to this report such as - More than 5,700 illegal “special interest aliens” from 43 Islamic countries, including State Sponsors of Terror, have been caught while traveling over the Canadian and Mexican borders along well-established underground smuggling routes between 9-11, 2001 and June 2007, a traffic that continues daily.

-- Based on widely accepted rule of thumb estimations, between 20,000 and 60,000 have gotten through without getting caught since 9/11. Most are probably economic or politically persecuted migrants. But the primary security threat is that those who can evade border patrol also evade terror watch list screening of any sort.

-- These illegal immigrants, though relatively small in total numbers, are considered high risk because they hail from countries where American troops are actively battling Islamic insurgents, from nations where radical Islamic organizations have bombed U.S. interests, or from designated State Sponsors of Terrorism. Among the nations whose citizens are crossing U.S. borders are Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Lebanon, Jordan and the Palestinian Arab territories.

-- Unguarded U.S. borders are most certainly in terrorist play books as a means of entering the country. Since the late 1990s, when Al Qaeda first began hitting American interests abroad, at least a dozen reputed terrorists have sneaked over U.S. borders, including operatives from Hezbollah, Hamas, the Tamil Tigers and one Al Qaeda terrorist once No. 27 on the FBI's Most Wanted Terrorist list.

-- The general flow of routes across the world moves toward South America and Central America first because it puts illegal immigrants within easy striking distance of the Mexican border. Corrupt customs and government officials in those nations, as well as Arab settler populations, help keep this traffic moving northward, providing safe haven, jobs and smuggling connections.

-- Latin American consulates based in the Middle East are selling tourist visas outright for bribes or simply issuing them to local travelers without regard to U.S. security interests. Guatemala is a key stepping stone country through which large numbers of special interest immigrants travel northward and which issues visas regularly from its consulates in places like Jordan and Egypt.

-- Since 9/11, Mexico has fielded a surprisingly robust effort to interdict special interest immigrants, partaking in a secret program to allow American intelligence agents inside its prisons to interview captured Middle Easterners. But severe shortages of manpower and interpreters cause the release of many in Mexico -- without thorough threat assessments -- to continue toward the U.S. border.

-- On the U.S. side of the border, the FBI is supposed to interrogate and assess the threat posed by every captured special interest alien. But the severely flawed process is vulnerable to error. Often, the FBI signs off on captured SIAs (allowing them access to the political asylum process) without knowing whether they are terrorists.

Haytham followed Muhammad down the culvert into the concrete drainage canal. His mind was easing with the descent of nightfall upon the terrain; darkness giving them a chance to both accelerate their movements and rest whenever the need arose. The young medical student knew that he was out of his element; knew it a long time ago, but regardless of whether he was the lowest soul on the totem pole he could not deny that the individual that he was following through the coursing cement embankments was Master Number One.

The more youthful Arab wanted to run. Every time they snuck past a family on an outing or children playing on an adjacent street, Haytham longed for his own home and relations – such as they were. He couldn’t shatter the reoccurring notion that those surrounding him – completely unaware to the journey of the two foreigners – weren’t much different than he was. He even heard a teenager being scolded by her mother for playing rock and roll music too loud. It made him smile until Muhammad had glanced back at him and reality hit home like a sledgehammer.

Haytham wanted to live for life, not just die for it like so many other Muslims had done or were expected to do. If Allah intended for them to sacrifice their lives, as his elder traveler kept mentioning, then he couldn’t help but believe that Allah had also predestined the Ukrainians to be what they were. It was a quandary that befuddled the young man: either the Ukrainians – and therefore everyone else – were absolutely the most despicable people on the planet for abandoning Allah’s will or that Muhammad was the biggest liar in existence. He knew which belief his masters subscribed to but Haytham just couldn’t accept that every Ukrainian out there enjoying himself was so despicable. One of the two groups was wrong. Seriously wrong.

As the world surrounding him grew darker, his senses began to pick up the smells and sound normally hidden within daylight. He could hear the slight trickling of what little water caressed their feet. The distant yelping of a dog that carried across the fields from location unknown. The subdued clatter of vehicles racing along the myriad of streets and which blended into the blanket of Crimean dusk. Haytham smiled; all things considered, he could have been at home – the darkness largely obscuring whether his climate was temperate or desert in nature.

The odors experienced were different, however. Ukraine had a distinctly bland aroma compared with the burdensome Middle East. There seemed to be one, terribly foul odor that originated from the direction that he was being led, as if the putrid smell was itself leading him into the unknown.

“We shall stop here for a slight rest.” Muhammad’s order came from somewhere within the deepening blackness.

“Yes, Master.” Haytham discovered that the source of the foul smell came from the same direction as did the words. “I can continue as you see fit.”

“You are a good soldier, young Haytham.” Muhammad’s voice sounded less harsh, yet sterner. “We are in the land of the infidels, lost from our own tribes. We must continue until we can reach safety. My followers have abandoned me; Mahmoud has abandoned me. They will pay…”

“Perhaps they will yet come to our rescue?” Haytham’s voice was even less opportunistic than he had feared. “Much had happened at the prison. We scattered. They scattered. We will find each other, yes?”

“Failure is evil.” growled Muhammad lightly. “It is against Allah’s will. Mahmoud should have expected my deliverance. He should have been waiting.”

Haytham felt an arm briefly descend upon his shoulder from the darkness. “Yet, it was you, my young friend, who did come to my aid. You are now Muhammad’s servant.”

“Yes, Master.” The young student experienced a terrible prickling sensation erupt over his body. “I exist to serve my Lord.”

“Good. And you shall. We shall destroy the infidels and by their own hand. As I have already told you, they cannot escape. They enrich the Chinese who have turned to our friends in Arabia to provide them with crude and the mujahedeen use the money to buy arms, train, and subvert the allies of the West. If they only knew what terrible fate awaits them they would be far more conscious of where they sent their own wealth!”

Haytham knelt down gingerly, washing his hands slightly within the flowing stream beneath his feet. It was about the fourteenth time that he heard the tale; that the Americans made China rich through products of inferior quality only to have the Chinese buy oil from Iran and Saudi Arabia which used the money received from Beijing to purchase weapons and train men to combat the Americans in turn. He made him sick – all this talk of death and battle.

“Allah has given me a way of destroying New York City.” Muhammad continued, still enshrouded within the dark. “A ship; an American ship that our friends are restoring will be delivered into the clutches of the Great Satan. It will be our ‘gift’ to them; a present to show our great ‘admiration’ of their fellowship with the Muslim nations. Only this modern Trojan horse will have a weapon of such unimaginable horror within its bowels that no American will deny that Islam is the greatest force in the universe!”

Haytham’s ill feeling pervaded his whole body. He wasn’t so naïve as to not suspect what his master had planned – the destruction of the entire city of New York. A conflagration of historical proportions. It made him shiver to his bones and cry.

“Young Haytham, are you there?” Muhammad’s voice sounded confused, almost searching.

“Oh, yes Master,” Haytham stood up quickly. “I was only washing my…”

The young student’s words were cut abruptly as he impacted against the larger individual. He could hear a deep groan followed by the sounds of a man stumbling against an unknown obstacle. Finally, the sound of as if a body falling into hole or a tunnel of some sort echoed along the concrete channel.

“Master, Muhammad?” Haytham’s voice eked out. “Are you okay?”

Global norms more important than sovereign nations???

The 2008 Presidential election may seem like it all about Barack Obama; however, he can't seem to close the deal.  With all his followers, with all his soring speeches, with all the hoopla surrounding his world trip -- he still can't break away from McCain.  Why?  Maybe it's because people are finally seeing him for who he really is -- just a politician.  Actually, he's a new politician, an inexperienced politician -- and it shows.

Barack Hussein Obama is "... the candidate of a transnational progressivism -- in which global norms are more important than sovereign nations.":

In Berlin, Obama called himself, unironically, a "citizen of the world." The world, however, issues no passports, nor does it have citizens. The world in the way Citizen Obama imagines it -- as a global community to which we all belong -- doesn't exist. Only backpacking hippies, devotees of the Davos World Economic Forum and U.N. bureaucrats speak this way.  (Rich Lowery, TownHall.com)

I don't think Americans are ready for transnational progressivism and they are certainly not ready for a global government, global leader, in lieu of a sovereign nation -- The United States of America!

I did not hear Obama mention anything about the IDF soldiers captured and killed, nor did I hear him mention anything about Gilad Shalit.   Indirect talks between Israel and Hamas over a prisoner swap that might free abducted Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit are supposed to resume today, Tuesday, July 29, 2008.  We can only imagine how many hardened terrorists will be required to be released in order to free this one Israeli. 

Obama has, or at least had, the support of Arabs and specifically Palestinians and their supporters.  As Annie's Letters points out, Obama has acted like any other politician since being nominated for President of the United States -- a big change from his former self:

Palestinian-Americans first knew Barack Obama in Chicago in the 1990s, he grasped the oppression faced by Palestinians under Israeli occupation. He understood that an honest broker cannot simultaneously be the main cheerleader, financier and arms supplier for one side in a conflict. He often attended Palestinian-American community events and heard about the Palestinian experience from perspectives stifled in mainstream discussion. [snip]

 ...  Obama missed the opportunity to visit Palestinian refugee camps, schools and even shopping malls to witness first-hand the devastation caused by the Israeli army and settlers, or to see how Palestinians cope under what many call "apartheid." This year alone, almost 500 Palestinians, including over 70 children, have been killed by the Israeli army -- exceeding the total for 2007 and dwarfing the two-dozen Israelis killed in conflict-related violence.

Obama said nothing about Israel's relentless expansion of colonies on occupied land. Nor did he follow the courageous lead of former President Jimmy Carter and meet with the democratically elected Hamas leaders, even though Israel negotiated a ceasefire with them. That such steps are inconceivable shows how off-balance is the US debate on Palestine.  (The Electric Intifada)

Cal Thomas says, " It is a truism in politics that you are supposed to lower expectations in order to boost your political stock should you exceed them. Sen. Obama has done precisely the opposite. He has raised expectations so high there is only one way he can exceed them following his nomination in Denver.  That is to climb to the top of a mountain peak, there to be transfigured and ascend into Heaven.  "  A little tongue in cheek from Cal Thomas.  The truth is that Obama has raised the expectations so high, he has no places to go but DOWN.
