That's what my dear, sweet, retired neighbor lady said to me today when we were discussing the energy 'crisis'. She had been perusing T. Boone Pickins' website, and was thrilled with what she saw. I told her that I was in favor of investigating all forms of energy, but I believe we need to be drilling offshore and in ANWR. She cut me off, in her sweet way, saying, "OH, NO! WE'LL RUIN ALASKA!"
No, my dear neighbor, we will NOT ruin Alaska, nor will we ruin ANWR, nor will we ruin the tiny spot where drilling would occur. Yes, my neighbor is a Democrat, a Liberal, and she has been brainwashed by CNN. See the following images (click to enlarge).
The problem is, you cannot reason with people who are already brainwashed.
Now, in other Liberal news, Lawmakers Could Consider Gas Tax Hike, After Gas Tax Holiday Fails, according to Fox News.
Despite calls from the presidential campaign trail for a Memorial Day-to-Labor Day tax freeze, lawmakers quickly concluded — with a prod from the construction industry — that having $9 billion less to spend on highways could create a pre-election specter of thousands of lost jobs.
Now, lawmakers quietly are talking about raising fuel taxes by a dime from the current 18.4 cents a gallon on gasoline and 24.3 cents on diesel fuel.
The politicians whine (yes I said whine) about the high cost of gas for the American people, but they are UNWILLING TO DO SQUAT to help, they are not willing to cut back on their spending one red cent. On the contrary, they are willing to INCREASE THE BURDEN ON AMERICANS, so that they can GO ON SPENDING. Send the bums home.
The Democrats created the victim class, they continue to support the victim class, ... but not if is hurts their pot of gold in Washington.
From Tom's Place, Where’s the Energy?
Frankly, I’m not counting government to do anything for us. Just look at the political idiocy going on over what to do about the price of gas, and you’ll understand how moronic & how out of touch with their constituents our elected Congresscritters really are. For instance:
Congress has its own ban on offshore energy exploration, and the Democrats who run Congress have shown no sign that they are willing to follow Bush’s example. They have preferred to make excuses–about why the price of oil is rising, who is to blame for its rise, and why increasing domestic supply won’t do anything to ameliorate the problem

SAM:
Thanks for that. Don't worry about the trackback, probably TypePad's problem. I appreciate the mention.

Debbie,
I referred to this post over at Malignant Liberal Idiocy. For some reason I couldn't do the trackback correctly.

TOM:
My pleasure, keep up the good work.
FAULTLINE:
Yes, DRILL DRILL DRILL. It is so hard to talk to people like my neighbor, who have been 'drilled' (pardon the pun) with mis-information.
WILD PHIL:
Thanks for the information. Always looking for good information. Yes, I hae a Blog Talk Radio account.
SKUNKFEATHERS:
Yes, when all you watch is CNN, what can we expect?
GROUCH (a/k/a hubby):
You explain the situation perfectly. You're right, the neighbor is not really a Liberal, she is a Democrat though. She is a good person, good American, good neighbor, just really brainwashed.
MK:
That's funny, thanks for the laugh. (could be true???)
Layla:
Yes, Bush has been way too chummy with the Saudis.
Maggie:
Excellent point, I should have brought that out. Drilling is so safe these days, and the off-shore sites even in Katrina, didn't spill a drop.
Violence Worker:
Absolutely. You prove the point. There is no reason NOT to drill.
Debbie out.

Thanks for the cross-posting. The referenced article has many more examples and details on what Congress is not doing - helping the American people. Personally, I think all these buzzards should be voted out of office.

Well we have to keep pounding Congress regardless of their unwillingness to listen to the vast majority of Americans who want to Drill Here, Drill Now, and Pay Less! You said it: "The problem is, you cannot reason with people who are already brainwashed."

Hi Debbie,
Your friend Wild Phil here, I got just the one for you and your hubby and your readers to see about this. She runs a show on BTR and goes by the screen name on BTR Syrin.
So if you want truth and not propaganda go to BTR http://www.blogtalkradio.com and sign up for a listener account, it's easy and it's free, no charge to have a account. It only takes a few minutes to do that. Then tonight every Sunday night Syrin discusses the Energy Policy, and she is quite experienced, Syrin's Husband works on the pipeline up in Prudhoebay Alaska.
After you have signed up for a BTR account go to her show url which is at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Syrin
Her show starts at 11:00pm Central Standard Time, this is because it is 8:00pm Alaskan Time there.
Enjoy.
Take Care Debbie and Grouch :)

More proof that progressives have succeeded in dumbing down educational standards with their infiltration of public education; stupid people becoming even more ignorant of facts. Just an announcement that we're starting to drill in ANWR would drop the price of oil significantly.
Stupid liberal boneheads.

I am not even convinced that our neighbors are liberals. What they are is "marginally informed". They listen to just a spoonful of news from the drive-by media and then go about their merry way thinking they have been informed. Well, yall know what kind of bilgewater the drive-by media spews.
If all you listen to is the MSM and accept what they have to say, you will believe that:
1. The industrialized world can exist on alternative energy sources alone.
2. Drilling anywhere is harmful to the environment.
3. George Bush is a lying hateful sonofabitch.
4. We are failing in Iraq.
5. The world is warming and it's our fault.
You get the picture....
Our neighbors are indeed Democrats, Yellow Dog Democrats, which means they would vote for a yellow dog if it were the party nominee. Funny though I have many friends and acquaintances who are Democrats and I have heard some of them say, "It'll be a cold day in hell before I vote for that damned nig...!"
So much for the party of equal opportunity. I guess they'll either vote for McCain or Ralph Nader or stay home.
Oddly, many of these Yellow Dog Democrats upon questioning have staunchly conservative values. Most believe in individual freedom, private property rights, right to life, low taxes, strong military, guns, and on and on.
Sadly, they remain Democrats because their parents and grandparents were Democrats. Most of them are "marginally informed" so they never figure out the truth.
It's maddening!

That's a brilliant picture Debbie. When i first saw it, i thought you were showing a brainscan of the average liberal brain, the point being the actual brain.
Sorry, couldn't help that dig.

I am so tired of whammy pammy Americans. They need to get a life. They would rather get us killed by al-Qaeda than fight this war and they would rather hug a tree than drill in ANWR.
Guess they believe giving the Saudis what they want - to screw us is okay. Pfffffffft!

It's not enough that the people of Alaska desperately want to drill. It's not enough that their leaders are pushing to drill. Everyone always knows what's best for everyone else.
Today's technology makes drilling so much safer for the environment, wildlife, marine life. It's the Liberal agenda to turn a deaf ear to all common sense.

We haven't had a major spill (or much of a minor one for that matter)since the 1969 Santa Barbara accident. It's the incident that the liberals bring up when we talk about drilling.
It's an accident that wouldn't happen today because they cut corners then and they wouldn't get the permits to cut those same corners again. Technology has improved as well as drilling materials.
Most spills today come from transportation accidents involving ships, Truck tankers, railroad tankers and pipelines.
