Letter to Senator Bob Corker (R-TN)
Dear Senator Corker,
I must write to express my displeasure in the news that you have joined the "gang of 10" outlined by a recent Wall Street Journal article by Kimberly Strassel, titled "Republican Energy Fumble".
The vast majority of Americans are sick and tired of high priced gasoline and our dependence on Saudi oil. They want us to drill here and drill now and they want the nonsensical roadblocks erected by the left and the environmental fruitcakes removed quickly and permanently.
Courageous Republicans in the House are standing tall and trying to force the Democrats to come back to town for an up or down vote on this vital issue.
This issue is the one thing on which Republicans can effectively pound Democrats. John McCain, who I have never supported has finally gotten the message and has become an advocate of drilling. Barack Obama offers the suffering masses the ludicrous solution of inflating our tires to make up for the oil we would otherwise gain from drilling.
Senator, if the congress does nothing, the moratorium on offshore drilling would simply expire at the end of September.
Suddenly enter the "gang of 10". New production of oil is left to state legislatures and then only in 4 costal states. It is my understanding that drilling would require approval from PETA and the ACLU. Drilling is barred within 50 miles of the coast. ANWR is not included, and to top it off $84 billion dollars in tax credits, subsidies, and Federal handouts will be allocated toward renewable and alternative fuels paid for in part by taxes on OIL COMPANIES!
Senator, here are the facts:
1. The Democrats do not want us to drill for our own oil.
2. Increasing the supply of oil is crucial to bringing down the price.
3. Taxing the oil companies will not produce a single drop of oil.
4. Inflating our tires will not produce a drop of oil.
5. The 2000 acres of drilling land (out of 19 million) in ANWR is a frozen waste where the sun doesn't shine for 56 days out of the year.
6. The prosperity of this country is due in part to our use of fossil fuels. Our continued prosperity will require fossil fuels. There is no replacement for oil in the foreseeable future.
7. Man made global warming is a hoax perpetuated by Al Gore and his left wing nuts. Conservatives need to stand tall and say, "Not one more dime shall be spent on this nonsense!"
Senator, when I voted for you I expected that you would provide conservative principles and leadership. Your membership in the gang of 10 exhibits neither. It just shows you're good at crossing the aisle to compromise with Democrats. Senator, we true conservatives don't want to compromise with Democrats, we want to defeat them!
Kindest regards,
Thomas Hamilton M.D.
Feel free to use information in hubby's letter to contact YOUR gang of ten member and let them know how you feel. Also contact all your Senators and Representatives. They need to hear from the American people.

Doug Miller: This article was written in August concerning drilling off shore. You are talking about Corker's recent proposals concerning the auto companies and the bailout.
I think maybe you have not understood correctly Corker's present plan. I have disagreed with him on many things, but I think he may have a plan here that would be good for the workers, the companies and Americans.

After listening to this "Senator" concerning the Auto Industry "Bailout"Itappears to me his true feelings toward Working Middle Class Americans is that we are somewhat akin to garbage. We should be used and abused by Big Businees like Corker's Business at the lowest possible cost then discarded like so much garbage when we have been "used up" Corker is against the Big Three while at the same time he seems to be"sleeping" with Toyota and Volkswagen. Securing a $500 Million dollar loan for VW to build a plant in Tennessee.Moderate to low wages for Tennesseeans while all of the big profits are funneled to Japan and Germany.
If one is to believe any of the stories in the
Nashville and
Memphis papers concerning some of Mr. Corker's dealings Then I question his sincerity and veracity.
Is Mr. Corker in the Senate because he desires to help the people of the United States or is Mr Bob in the Senate to help Mr. Bob and friends?
Illinois Governor Rod Bladeojevech has exposed a lot of the raw truth of the Political World that is applicapable to more than Illinois Politics. Politics is the second oldest profession but it bears a close resemblance to the worlds oldest profession. I think we should have signs over the door of the Senate and House applicapable to both professions. Sign # 1 - Show me the Cash". Sign # 2 - For sale to the highest bidder".

So far I haven't heard a thing back from old Bobaloo. At least they usually send you a "kiss my ass" form letter reply but so far nada.

Old Bob Corker will be getting a letter from me as well...

Well said, Grouch! The one senator from Colorado that I tend to agree with isn't part of that 'gang', but I'll add a salvo to him as well.

It just chaps my hide that so many of these Republicans feel that they have to do something even if it's wrong. They need to hold firm, stand their ground, no compromise, and just let the Democrats show America what mindless jackasses they really are.

McCain and Graham never "got it" that the Gang of 14 was considered abysmal by most Republicans. McCain is surely right in the middle of this "reaching across the aisle" bid for moderation.
The restrictions you've outline above are ridiculous. What are they thinking?
Thanks to you and hubby for expressing exactly how you feel.

My dad's best friend lives in SC, and keeps writing Lindsey Graham over and over again! Hopefully SC will run Graham off!
