From Stop the ACLU:
“Attempts by law enforcement to squelch lawful political speech and stifle the press have no place in our democracy and are unacceptable,” said Anthony D. Romero, Executive Director of the ACLU. “Political conventions should be a showcase for free expression, not a venue for bullying and intimidation.”
The ACLU specifically called for an investigation into possible violations of the First and Fourth Amendments, including:the arrest of reporters trying to gather the news;
the mass arrest of hundreds of peaceful protestors;
the surveillance and subsequent raids on several activist groups and private homes; and
the confiscation by law enforcement agents of constitutionally-protected private property.
Here is some video of some of the “peaceful protesters” that the big, bad police pepper sprayed and arrested!
Early Morning Thoughts of an Insomniac, at Stop the ACLU
While
preparing to write this post I had a couple of different subjects that
I was attempting to decide upon. Then I said to myself, “self - why not
write a combo post.” After-all, it isn’t like I have to write complete
thoughts on the subjects that I was thinking of because others have
done that already.
First subject - The Utopian Aspirations of the Political Left
Dr. Thomas Sowell has an article up at Townhall.com where he attempts to explain where the political left derives its insane ideology.
“Experience” is often just a fancy word for the mistakes that we belatedly realized we were making, only after the realities of the world made us pay a painful price for being wrong.
Those who are insulated from that pain– whether by being born into affluence or wealth, or shielded by the welfare state, or insulated by tenure in academia or in the federal judiciary– can remain in a state of perpetual immaturity.
Individuals can refuse to grow up, especially when surrounded in their work and in their social life by similarly situated and like-minded people.
Even people born into normal lives, but who have been able through talent or luck to escape into a world of celebrity and wealth, can likewise find themselves in the enviable position of being able to choose whether to grow up or not.
Those of us who can recall what it was like to be an adolescent must know that growing up can be a painful transition from the sheltered world of childhood.
Dr. Sowell is, in my opinion, one of the most brilliant of Conservative minds in this country and I agree with his assessment. Liberals are like Peter Pan’s lost boys. A band of misfits refusing to grow up and holding on to an idealistic vision of the future that they can neither promise for certain nor bring about. But that won’t stop them from implementing, or attempting to implement, socialist policies that have repeatedly failed in the past.
The other subject that I was contemplating - The ACLU in St. Paul
My friend and co-blogger Jay (Stop the ACLU) asked if this story inspired me any.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT: (212) 549-2666; media@aclu.orgST. PAUL - In response to reports of widespread civil liberties abuses in connection with mass arrests, police raids on private homes and the detention of several journalists during the Republican National Convention (RNC), the American Civil Liberties Union renewed its call for an investigation into the actions of law enforcement there.
“Attempts by law enforcement to squelch lawful political speech and stifle the press have no place in our democracy and are unacceptable,” said Anthony D. Romero, Executive Director of the ACLU. “Political conventions should be a showcase for free expression, not a venue for bullying and intimidation.”
The ACLU specifically called for an investigation into possible violations of the First and Fourth Amendments, including:the arrest of reporters trying to gather the news; the mass arrest of hundreds of peaceful protestors; the surveillance and subsequent raids on several activist groups and private homes; and the confiscation by law enforcement agents of constitutionally-protected private property. The ACLU affiliate office in Minnesota has assembled legal counsel for many of the reporters and peaceful protestors arrested since Monday. The ACLU of Minnesota has also filed a lawsuit in federal court calling for the release of boxes of literature that were confiscated during Monday’s raids
No mention in the ACLU’s press release of the destruction of private property or attempts to crash the convention. No mention of the danger to public safety that these pieces of sludge posed against the fine people of St. Paul.
And speaking of the RNC in St. Paul, why is it that as Republicans put the convention on hold day 1 because of hurricane Gustav, the libtards that the ACLU want to defend were in the streets “protesting”.
This has nothing to do with civil rights but rather the pursuit of the ACLU’s long established goal to destroy the United States and bring about a Communist form of government. Remember - “Communism is the goal.” - Roger Baldwin
I am for socialism, disarmament, and, ultimately, for abolishing the state itself… I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and the sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal.
This ironically ties into Dr. Sowell’s thoughts. Liberals aspire to a Utopian society and the only way that they see to achieve that Utopian society is through implementation of Karl Marx’s fantasies. Marx wrote his ‘Communist Manifesto’ in 1848. Every single attempt to implement Marx’s delusional vision of Utopia has FAILED. But yet they still insist on trying.
Remind me… What is the definition of insanity?
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. - Albert Einstein
I’d say Einstein hit the Liberal on the head.

second of my subjects and it is posted right under this one so continue
