WAVED OFF: OBAMA’S PATRIOTISM
WAVED OFF: OBAMA’S PATRIOTISM

Admittedly, it is a very difficult subject – to question one’s patriotism. After all, we do not know what thoughts swirl within the confines of one’s heart. To question whether a fellow American is a patriotic citizen or not is definitely tiptoeing along a very fine and extremely dangerous line. However, when that particular person is vying for commander-in-chief of my nation’s military and president for the rest of us, then I have to toss caution into the wind and scrutinize this candidate.
The first thing that we have to do, in this particular case, is ignore spontaneous gripes. For example, I remember hearing my dad or some other family members state such things as “This country is going to the dogs!” or “If X gets elected I’m moving to Timbuktu!” Naturally, none of these statements, taken at face value, presents the image of someone who is not a proud American. They were merely uttered under duress and can be dismissed as much as one would a comment such as “If I hear someone say that just one more time, I’ll scream!” Nobody ever screams.
Thus for me to formulate an opinion regarding one’s patriotism, I have to detect a pattern; a system of behavior that will provide the so-called psychological “baseline” from which to gauge the subject’s true thoughts. I have done this with Senator Barack Obama and I am afraid that the conclusion is disturbing. First, permit me to outline the main facts – as I see them – before I discuss their implications.
1) Senator Obama has been photographed as the only Democratic Party candidate failing to place their hand over their heart during the National Anthem;
2) Senator Obama consciously elected not to wear an American flag lapel pin;
3) Barack Obama’s wife is on record as stating that she had never been proud of America prior to her husband running for the presidency;
4) The Democratic National Convention used the American flag as display propaganda during the presence of cameras and tried to dispose of the flags afterward instead of donating them to veteran’s groups or convincing convention participants to take them home.
Again, none of these is particularly threatening by themselves and I am certain that each one of us has done things we regretted through either ignorance or sloth.
What is quite disturbing is, once again, the pattern of Senator Obama’s thoughts regarding his country and whether he is sufficiently patriotic to serve as my president. I want my president to be, above all else, the most flag-waving, anthem-singing, our-country-is-the-best-speaking individual there is. He (or she) should be one that oozes patriotism. Barack Obama fails this criterion – at least in my humble opinion. To me, he appears to be nothing more than a Bobblehead doll in front of the cameras. Have you noticed? He extends his head backwards to the point that it may fall off if he ever ventured close enough to hurricane country and speaks to the media in fragments. He does not appear loose, fluid, or honest. I want my president to be a real person – truthful to a fault, humble to the core, and militant in their patriotism.
As I consider any president to be the ‘parent’ of their nation during their time in office, I will subject them to my three rules of parenthood:
1) A good parent must take interest in everything their children do;
2) A good parent must spend quality time with their children;
3) A good parent must never, ever speak ill of their children.
So how does Senator Obama match these expectations? Poorly, I might add.
First, Mr. Obama does not take an interest in everything his country does. He ridicules citizens by criticizing their devotion to religion and gun ownership, for example, thus alienating at least half of the country. Secondly, Mr. Obama does not spend quality time with the rest of us. He attended Ivy League universities that most of us could not afford let alone gain admission within. He spent twenty years associated with a pastor who was blatantly anti-American in his sermons. This leads us to the third rule, and we all know that Senator Obama has spoken ill of America to everyone who would listen. He has visited our enemies and criticized America in European countries where the citizens know as much about life in America as I do about baking soufflé. This inherent aggression towards his own country has apparently carried down to his spouse, as Michelle Obama was obviously unhappy with all of the blessings that this great nation showered her with. I guess money cannot buy happiness if $200,000 a year is evidence of personal suffering.
Perhaps the greatest signal of anti-Americanism is the mere call for “Change.” Why not call for “Improvement?” “Evolution?” Even, perhaps, “Equality?” Barack Obama’s use of the term is meant to show that he does not care much about America. He wants to change our nation into something that he apparently does not see at the present and we all should be gravely concerned with this. From his refusal to make a pledge, to his refusal to bear the flag, to his refusal to allow Americans to bear arms or uphold their faith, to his wife’s refusal to acknowledge gratitude, to his party’s refusal to care for the very flag that upholds their rights to gripe, everything about Barack Obama calls his patriotism into question.
No rational, thoughtful, or compassionate human being should ever consider the notion that a man who wants to change his nation is more qualified to lead it than a man who served it to the point of torture. No man who earned $4 Million last year after having supposedly been brought up through interminable conditions should ever criticize the wealth of one who had given nearly his all to protect this ability to become self-made. We need to remain on alert over anyone who says that the greatest nation on earth, the very one where achievement is an individualist phenomenon, and where freedom is the greatest national treasure is somehow in need of change. Perhaps we need to change him.

That's right Debbie! You slap him upside the head like a good Southern wife should do! You know that "us guys" need to be kept in line somehow.
And now, I go back to my overbusy, blogvoid world.

I break my silence to debunk foolishness that should have already been debunked.
JT and "books." Goodness gracious JT, can't you get anything right?

So, what is your source for your mis-statement about Gov. Palin?

Thank goodness, JT. I feel like Alice who has fallen into the rabbit's hole here. So, if Obama is sweet about his family he's saccharine? And if Sarah forces her pregnant 17 year old daughter to marry the 17 year old father, it's "real" and sweet?
Great analogy, Debbie. Presidential and vice-presidential candidates can be compared to good parents. That's exactly why I'm not voting for any ticket with Sarah Palin on it.

Well that debunks Bush's remark that "Islam is a religion of peace" and that debunks Islam's - "we are tolerant of other religions."

I wondered the same thing myself. You watch Palin and her family, it seems real. With Obama and Michelle it seems over the top. But impressions can be deceiving, so I won't make any assumptions ... yet, ha.

You said it very well Debbie!

Excellent post.
The way I see this is like this. Even if obama promised the sun, moon, stars, etc. (you get the idea) to the American people; would they 'really' believe him now because he's changed his mind (flip flop) on so many issues?

Why do those who love Obama always change the subject when it comes to discussing Obama's Patriotism or any other problem he has?
JT, what in the hell does Sarah Palin's supposed foibles have to do with the subject of Obama's Patriotism?
Obama is running for President, Palin is running for Vice President, so in the future confine your comparisons to the other candidate for President. I forgot McCain is a bonified war hero.

Hi Debbie
This was a good one.
I also want to know if I am the only one who thinks that Obama and his wife are a little too saccharine sweet in front of the cameras?I love my husband but I dont think I have to put on a show all the time !

I believe a true PATRIOT is someone who respects the Bill of Rights and the United States Constitution.
It is a documented fact Sarah Palin attempted to censor books in her town’s library, a violation of our First Amendment.
Doesn’t it bother anyone??
Does it bother anyone that she openly has supported (and her husband was a member) of a group (AIP) that wants Alaska to succeed from the United States?

Excellent article. Of course the evidence is clear even before the article regarding Obama's patriotism, he has none. Everything he stands for is contrary to the true spirit and nature of America.
