Fisher Price Baby Doll says "Islam is the Light" UPDATED

Baby doll says "Islam is the Light" in Owasso, Oklahoma.

OWASSO - When Gary Rofkahr from Owasso heard there was a baby doll on local store shelves that said, "Islam is the Light," he didn't believe it.

He bought the Little Mommy Real Loving Baby Cuddle and Coo doll to see for himself and he was shocked to hear the words, "Islam is the Light" among other baby gibberish including "Mama."

"I have a 1-year-old granddaughter," he said. "It makes me mad that someone is trying to indoctrinate our children with an innocent toy."

He called Fisher Price to complain. He was told they were aware of the problem and would gladly refund his money.

This little Cute doll has caused a big ugly stir when it was discovered that among other baby gibberish, she utters the words "Islam is the Light" and "Satan is King".

"I told them I didn't want my money back, I wanted them to pull these dolls off the shelf," he said. "They told me they can't pull an item just because a customer requests it, they have to have corporate direction. I told them I would get corporate direction and get back to them. I told them I'm from a town of 30,000 people with 46 churches in it and I know someone who attends each one. I'm going to everyone I know to tell them about this and I'm going to call Target and Wal-Mart and see if we can pull this doll off the shelves."

Continue reading the article at Owasso Reporter (zwire.com)and WATCH THE VIDEO of the baby doll talking.  Amazing.

Check your stores for this doll and raise a stink if you find it available.

UPDATE:  I want readers to note that I never said the baby doll says anything about Satan.  I did hear the baby doll very clearly say Islam is the Light.

"There's no markings on the box to indicate there's anything Islamic about this doll," said Gary Rofkahr of Owasso, Okla., who was at work when another man brought the toy in to show his colleagues.

Rofkahr said he found various versions of the doll at local Target and Wal-Mart stores, which have since pulled the toys from their shelves, reported KJRH.com.

Fisher-Price and parent company Mattel didn't immediately respond to requests for comment.  (MyFox)

Was this the work of Fisher-Price, Mattel, or simply the work of a rogue employee (Muslim we assume???)  or maybe a disgruntled employee.  I'm not sure who does the programming of the voice or at what stage of the production process the voice is added.  American Trucker has added a YouTube video and reader Dave sent me an Mp3:

Here's another video:

Contact information for Fisher Price/Mattel is Consumer Relations - service@mattel.com. ” The Fisher Price inquiry number on the doll’s box is 1-800-524-8697.

More than likely it was a government contract for Mattel to fan the flames of anti islamic rhetoric. Do you honestly believe that these toys are not tested in any way before they leave the production floor? the U.S. and it's closest ally wage war one way only....through deception.

Ah yes, surah 9:15. The most mistranslated passage in the Koran. The word Awiliyah (sp) in Arabic does mean Ally. It also means friend. It also means protector. It also means guardian. There are 3 others I don't remember off the top of my head. The translation using the words ally and friend are both TECHNICALLY correct in LITERAL TRANSLATION. They are however incorrect in CONTEXTUAL TRANSLATION. If you read Surah 9 in it's entirety instead of just one passage, you will see that there are many things wrong with that passage meaning friend or ally. For example, Muslims are allowed to marry non-muslims. How could that be if we couldn't be friends or allys. That passage is in reference to the tribal wars that were taking place in the middle east at the time. The passage was stating that it's not in a Muslims best interest to join a tribe that isn't following Islam. The leader of the tribe wouldn't allow a follower of the tribe to practice a "non-tribal" belief system and they would either be killed or cast-out. If you re-read 9:15 understanding it's about staying in a group of people that follow Islam, it makes a lot more sense and it's completely non-hostile/non-violent. The phrase "and varily, one of them" is the one that sticks out. It's stating that if you BECOME ONE OF THEM. You won't BECOME one of them simply by being an ally...but for living under their rules/laws and not being able to practice Islam.

Tolerance? - "O YOU who have attained to faith! Do not take the Jews and the christians for your allies: they are but allies of one another and whoever of you allies himself with them becomes, verily, one of them; behold, God does not guide such evildoers" 5:15 Asad

http://www.islamicity.com/QuranSearch/

I did a search on Christian to get the above scripture from the Quran.

Who is not tolerant? Jesus of the Bible says, "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you." John 15:12

http://bibleresources.bible.com/keywordsearchresults.php?keyword=love+one+another+as+I+have+loved+you&multiplemethod=all&version1=9&numpageresults=10&sortorder=bookorder

Tolerance? If the middle east were tolerant, they would not be fighting, deadly fighting, among themselves right now.

You really think there would be more outcry if it said "Christ is the light"? Really? In a world where Christmas starts at Halloween and Easter starts at Valentines Day, you think people in a predominantly Christian nation would be upset if a doll said something good about Christ? I think that if there wasn't all the false statements about Islam and confusion in the media about what Islam portrays and the war going on, no one would care about the doll saying something that might have something to do with Islam. Your argument is that "this doll forces us to tolerate so it's okay". The thing about that is that we can only "tolerate" that which we don't agree with. If we agreed with it, there would be no need to tolerate. So a doll talking about something that is the mainstream and the norm would go under the radar. Something that goes AGAINST the mainstream like talking well of Islam right now is making people think they need to tolerate. The thing is though, it's a free country, so don't buy it or if you do...don't complain.

You know what, I would say there would be more outrage if the baby said "Christ is the light" instead of "Islam is the light". In that case, the ACLU would probably be filing lawsuits at this point against Mattel for trying to promote a certain religion. But, since is an Islamic oriented phrase, we need to accept it or else we are intolerant. It's a double standard, clearly.

It never ceases to amaze me the ignorance and intolerance of the 6 day atheistic "Christians". You claim that a doll babbling something that might say something you don't agree with is evil and should be stopped, but you are okay with the ritual annual worship of a fat guy throwing toys at kids once a year from his magic sleigh pulled by reindeer as a representation of Christ's birth and then in the spring you think it's okay for kids to run around looking for multicolored eggs that were laid by a magic bunny and the eggs are somehow chocolate and hatch into marshmallow peeps and this is a representation of the rebirth of Christ after his crucifxion.

All those things are fine and the doll is misleading? I don't know about anyone else, but I know that I will raise my kids to learn truth. I won't hide religion behind crazy stories of elves with lists that spy on your kids year round so they can tell the magic bunny how many keebler elves he needs to put to work in his cookie mines to feed the obese masses the "religion" they claim to follow. Get over yourselves and realize that IF the doll says one thing that is Islamic, it is a FAR cry from the EVIL that Christianity has allowed into the world through the defiling of the true religion and the name of Christ.

I have one of the dolls here and it plainly says "Islam Is the Light"

I definately won't be allowing my grandkids to play with it - and it's not because I'm a Christian. I wouldn't have purchased it had I known it said this.

We have this doll - it DOES sound like it says this

Conspiracy? - Doubtful.

I think it is most likely the work of one person or programmer.

Spreading islam? - Maybe

Playing a prank? - More Likely.

Even if it does not "really" say this - it now bothers me when I hear it.

I am getting rid of this thing.

I do not like being manipulated - or - my daughter being on the receiving end of someones prank.

Call me naive, a wicked white person, or paranoid all you like.

I feel its kind of funny how christians are so outraged by this and how ignorant they are of other religions. One woman even tried to connect this to President Obama. Thats just silly. Umm... people stop getting everything from tv and read for once, maybe you should read an unbiased source for info on another religion. Isnt it the same thing when during the "holiday season" all that we see on tv are christmas specials, all that we see in stores are christmas sales, how in school kids are told to make christmas crafts. Yet when a doll seems to utter something that sounds a bit not christian it instantly becomes the devil. I am muslim and i believe in Jesus(Isa). Lyman you said, "It's time we who believe in Christ stand up and be counted." umm does that include us Muslims as well or is it only restricted to your rascist christian society, might i recall the same people who ran the crusades, the holocaust, slavery, need i go on? open your eyes people and pursue knowledge, and dont just just follow ignorance. I agree most muslims are better christians and followers of the bible, at least we stay true to our original teachings, texts, and the word of Allah(god) and not just change our book to suit our need and or schedules. =P

How many people do you have to know through church to get on tv this way? I hope it's not more than 10 or so, otherwise my 2.5 minutes of fame on FOX12QWAZ "The World's News Leader" will never come :(

So, some crazy woman hears a hidden message in a doll and suddenly Fisher Price is behind a conspiracy theory to convert children to Islamic faith. It honestly sounds like something out of a horrible suspense novel or an over the top villain plan from a spy movie. Has America truly degraded to this point?

The fact of the matter is that the recording is of an actual baby babbling, and the fact that these dolls do not have the clearest sound causes it to become distorted somewhat, which gives room for imagination of these "subliminal messages". From a psychological standpoint, it's understandable that people hear certain phrases in distorted vocal sounds, but from a standpoint of common sense it is pure insanity. Not only would Fisher Price be putting a great risk to the reputation of their company by purposely putting a doll out with religious endorsement hidden in its speech, they would also be subjecting themselves to the harassment and scrutiny of the government and media which may jeopardize its very existence.

Had any of you heard the babbling pre-distortion from an actual baby, and then heard it played back through the voice box of one of the dolls, you likely would have not heard any hidden message at all because the mystery would be gone. You'd know what the original sound was for certain and there would be no room for crazy speculation. It's possible you'd still say "Oh, that sounds like " but you would know it wasn't that.

My advice to all of you, if you don't like the doll, don't buy it. No one's forcing you. If you don't want your kids playing with it cause you think it might rub off some crazy message, then fine. Take their doll away. Hope you have some sort of replacement ready. Don't forget all the other negative influences while you're at it. I hear the Teletubbies teach kids to be gay. If you trust your child to someday make an informed opinion on religion based on the knowledge they gain through living and experiencing life firsthand, then by all means, let them play with the doll til they get tired of it and find something else to hold their attention. If they're anything like I was growing up, that sure won't be religion.

This is outragous!! It should be removed from the shelves immediatley. And for all you people who dont think this will effect your kids your wrong. They play with they toy over and over and the saying "Islam is the Light" is going to be imprinted in their mind...

Let's be realistic here. You child isn't going to take advice from a doll. In fact, the little girls and boys who play family probably won't even notice. And even if they did, they most likely don't know what Islam is. If they do, you've probably taught them enough for them to be familiar with a variety of basic religious beliefs.

http://www.snopes.com/business/alliance/dolltalk.asp

You're hearing what you want to hear. It's just baby babble recorded from an actual baby.

There's no "s" sound ANYWHERE in there, where you say it should be. There's a guttural "K" or "G" sound, but no "S" whatsoever.

It's just plain mentally ill for you people to be so xenophobic that you hear something like this in the innocent babbling of an actual baby.

You all make me sick.

how do i geta refund on the crazy doll?

regardless what the toy says it is about personal faith. you either agree or not. but how dare european/american christians speak of religeous takeover subliminally when that has been a tactic historicly used to continously degrade every other race religion or any minority for that matter. i guess all of your evil racist and capital ways hve you a little paronoid? have ataste of your own medicine.

humans tend to listen things what they want to or what is in back of their minds, non-muslims please don't be stubborn and don't just follow your forefathers for nothing, repent and come to the truth and light, which is ofcourse Islam !

We bought this doll over 6 months ago and didn't realize that it said anything other than cooing. We keep it turned off because it is so annoying. To my amazement, it really does say "Islam is the light". There is NO QUESTION about it. It is CLEAR AS DAY! I am not a Muslim hater - I actually have friends that are Muslim. I have no problem with their religion and they don't have a problem with mine. The problem is that this doll was deceptive. For me, if someone was devious enough to stick a message in a doll (or anything else) what else are they willing to do? Remember, this doll is marketed across America. Who's to say that it doesn't have some crazy contraption that will "go off" at a given time - every store that has it will be affected along with anyone in the store...then there is all of the hundreds of thousands of people that have it in their home! All I have to say is I threw mine away...and would have done the same if it were any other hidden message (religious or not). The intention could be purely innocent - but DECEPTION is not the way to spread your message. If the doll were properly marked I would not think twice about it.

Is this inappropriate? Yes it is. However I'm failing to see what the big deal is.

Why is it that the Christian RIGHT picks these silly battles and then wonders why others do not take them seriously?

They act as though a single 4 word phrase uttered by a doll is going to undermine their child's entire upbringing. If that really is the case - they need to work on their parenting skills.

While I disagree that a any child's toy should contain political or religious messages - come on people. Get over it. We have bigger problems that could happily use the level of energy people expend on stupid crap like this.

Lastly, I personally would hope that I've done a good enough job as a mother that my kid can think and function of her own validity - so that the first time she hears or witnesses something that does not fall in line with her upbringing, that she'll know how to handle it without undermining who I've raised her to be as person. If not I would hope I'd be big enough to admit the blame does not lie with an anamatronic piece of plastic - and that I'd instead be looking toward her support system to see where the breakdown was, you know?

I have always been a supporter of Israel, and I can understand why they are attacking Hamas. However, they are persecuting Christians and innocent Muslims. Israel is passing very anti christian laws, despite all the support, both financial and moral they receive: the Orthodox Jews don't give a toss about other religions, especially Christianity and especially Jewish Christians, whom they regard as scum. Christians in the West mustn't be so one eyed when it comes to the zionist state of Israel. They are still, for the most part, and unregenerate people who need to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

i got baby pals for chrismas and played for a bit, then the game was telling me to give my baby a bath, well then it began to bable and coo, then it stoped, and all the suden, i heard a sound that i remember, the little baby on the game said 'islam is the light' but what is scary about it is it said it the same voice as the doll! and you know, no baby i know says 'islam is the light'!

I am amazed at everyone complaining that the doll says islam is the light.. if your a truly religous person or family then why are you not complaining that it say satan is the king? thats the worse thing to have a doll say and give your child...also being that the doll is made for all children it should not be talking anything about religon of any kind. I agree the doll should be pulled. whom ever programed it should be fired from there job for causing such a mad mess.. serioulsy people focus on it saying satan is the king if you truly believe in GOD. That should be made serious issue.

Have you considered that they merely recorded baby gibberish. I imagine that would be the most direct route to downloading voice onto a microchip for a toy. Now I think you all should ask yourselves why am I hearing islam is the light.

To my surprise, my daughter received this very same doll and it was playing over-and-over again this morning because my baby was in a bouncy chair next to it. I was thinking how annoying this toy was but then noticed it had some actual words. Then I started to pay attention and clearly heard "Islam is the Light" along with a "mama" as well. I found the box it came in and there was NOTHING on it that said it was a religious doll which is when I started to get mad about it. I went online to research and it did not take long to find a ton of articles about this very problem. To find out that the company is still selling this product without any kind of notice irritates me to no end. Yes, it is not a big deal as to what is being said but the whole situation I described is the irritating aspect.

We came across the doll at K-Mart on 12/26 and listened to her as we walked around the store and surely there it was in plain English. My daughter recorded it with her cell phone and placed it on myspace & U-Tube. The activists fought to remove religion from our schools and government bldgs and yet i dont see them all over this when it ends up in our children & grand childrens toys.

It's a doll that says it, not a DS game. At least we haven't been talking about that on this forum at all. Did you listen to it and see if your daughter was telling the truth or are you making the whole thing up?

I bought my daughter the nintendo ds baby pals for Christmas and SHE was the one who came to me and told me that baby was saying Islam is the light. She asked if we could exchange the game

I've heard the doll in the store it does NOT say anything about Satan and nor does it have any hateful message like the fox news reporter said. FOX NEWS is so ignorant and hateful its sad.

Most of you people are repulsive. This is the United States of America. We have our Amendments still. You have your right to Christianity everyone else has their right to whatever they want. So what you don't like what this doll is saying. It doesn't give anyone the right to run down anothers religion.

wow...really? This is causing that much of an uproar? For starters....who cares? If you are a parent that buys this for your child and you feel your parenting is so poor that a doll that somewhat says something is going to undermine your life-lessons...maybe having kids was the wrong idea. If you are so radically anti-semitic that you think this is a conspiracy to "indoctrinate kids" as someone posted...perhaps you should learn what "indoctrinate" means and stop being so hateful. If you actually think Jihad means "holy war" or that Muslims don't follow Jesus Christ...go read the Koran and learn something. Everything in the world isn't evil...it's only evil when you push ignorance on a shaky premise. Good luck in life all that are upset with my post.

theonly ones that say it end with the last 3 numbers 911 crazy what does it mean

theonly ones that say it end with the last 3 numbers 911 crazy what does it mean

CAN YOU SAY CHAPTER 13 LOL

CAN YOU SAY CHAPTER 11 & 13

LOL

Okay so everyone knows its a doll for starters and I'm an active christian in my church. The preacher brought one to the church and mind you half the people in the church or more then half didn't know its "supposively" says "Islam is the light." He just said "Guys I bought my daughter this doll listen to it." It plays and coo's then says "Something something light." Everyone awed. Okay then he said listen again and it says Islam is the light. Till everyone knew what he wanted them to hear everyone thought it was a cute doll. I even helped with that sermon got the original file and played it. NOTHING even sounds like this. Now if you change the settings and mod the sound file down THEN it closely resembles this. I'm not one to be over-reactive or paranoid but I'd prefer to be happy with my life and not worry myself to death over doll. The thing is safe and harmless come on people putting "Islam is the light" in a doll? And how on earth do you get "Satan is king." C'mon guys don't be so over-reactive with everything. This just reminds me of my mom telling me people freaking themselves out by playing vinyl records backwards or the time that tella-tubby doll said "Faggot faggot bite my butt" for real I pray every night and befriend those who are different and I'm not worked up by it and neither is my pastor :) Just my opinion.

People! please stop the madness. You're over reacting. Just dont buy it! duh! There's people dying or hungry, focus on that since you're such humanitarians! Geeze!

Have a blessed day!
; D

ADAM: U R Wrong!!! Islam is not the light, it is the work of Satan. Mohammed was a sicko pedophile and radical muslims should be destroyed. All will bow to the Lord JESUS CHRIST and be judged!

If Mattel insist on selling this doll , at least pkg it as Muslim doll so people know what they are buying

I think if the doll said something about jesus maybe everyone out there would have a different opinion, get over it you paranoid people, its a doll.............

There is a bomb in the doll folks..
when it says "Allah oh Akbar" (god is great) it will detonate. ...

Manufactured by Fisher-Laden Inc. Made-In-Pakistan with foreign materials from Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Yup Bob, your i right, Islam is closer to the bible then most Christians. Especially, when they stone virgins for being raped, and cut off the heads of journalists. You are a human turd, and we need to start our own Jihad and wipe you evil religion from the face of the earth and deliver you all to Allah (Hate and heaps of crap be upon him).

This reminds me of the days of vinyl records. We would play them backwards and imagine all sorts of things being said.

I work at a Target in the Pgh. area. A co=worker brought one of these dolls up to me and told me to listen to it. I know what I heard! This is the worst kind of indoctrination. Fisher-Price should be run out of business. By the way, I am not a born-again, conservative Republican. My husband told me about these dolls a few months ago, but I thought it was just some crap he heard from Rush or Fox television.

the same people that are complaining about this are the same people that let their kids watch South Park and play violent video games. Islam is right, America is the whore of the earth. Christmas in America is all about commercialism and "what did you GET for Christmas" read your Bibles folks and actually live the life you are suppose too. No one in America actually even reads the Bible or knows what it says. The Muslims are actualy closer to true Christian in practice than any so called Christian here in the USA. Maybe you need to take a listen !

GET A LIFE PEOPLE ! WHOS CARES WHAT IT SAYS !!! OMG ! IT'S THE IN VASION OF THE BIN LADEN DOLLS RUN FOR YOUR LIVES !!!

Islam is the light, it really is!

BIG LOTS IS CURRENTLY CARRYING THIS TOY.

Well, regardless if it was intentional or not, 30 dolls staring you down on a store shelf saying "Islam is the Light" is Freaky! I kept walking back and forth listening, and I couldn't believe my ears. It blew my mind!
