Prominent Black Leaders Support McCain, but not Colin Powell
Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell has cast his lot with presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, saying that his support for Obama does not mean that the war in Iraq was wrong. Powell explained his support for Obama by describing Obama as"a transformational figure, ... new generation, ... a fresh set of of eyes, a fresh set of ideas".
The Iraq war was topic number one for so long with Democrats, but now that Iraq is stable and a success -- Iraq is off the table:
Until the surge in Iraq, you couldn't get the war out of the MSM. They were thrilled to report every negative event. Now, where is the reporting the success? You cannot find it. The important thing is what the Iraqi people think.
Below are comments by Staff Brigadier General Ismael Hussain Alsodani, Iraqi Army Defense Attaché, Embassy of Iraq, to Americans, from Universality of Remembrance:
the most brutal dictator regimes in the region. Iraq, as matter of fact
became the forward front of the global war on terror. It is a campaign
between the goodness powers and the evil. Our enemy in this campaign
has no religion values and human senses. Our enemy does not identify
between the civilian and military targets, between the children and olds,
between schools or hospitals, museums, worship places, bridges and
military bases. Our enemy is targeting all above the ground and soft
targets, and he does not prefer the direct confrontation.
Through those years, United States of America rendered its elite young
men and women service members of the armed forces to accomplish
this mission. Some of them were fallen in my country. They sacrificed
with their lives to award us the life. They paved our prosperous future
with their invaluable blood as ultimate sacrifices to prove that the
humanity and peace are borderless. Therefore, their fallen is meaningful
for the ultimate objective which is the well being and security of the
coming generations and humanity.
Honorable Ladies and gentlemen:
I would like to convey a massage of appreciation from Iraqi government,
the people of Iraq, my family, my friends, my relatives and my
neighbors to all who those have put their hands to support my country
to survive, to the fallen men and women and their families. To the great
people of united state of America, and United State government stated
that: all what have you done for Iraq and Iraqis will never be forgettable
and our sincere sympathies and blessings to all fallen families and God
bless you all.
Read about and watch videos of " PROMINENT BLACK LEADERS SUPPORT MCCAIN," from the National Black Republican Association:
In a powerful video with personal testimonials, key black conservative leaders, including Dr. Alveda C. King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., talk about how their faith influences the policies and politics they support. These black Americans state eloquently why they support Sen. John McCain and cannot, in good conscience, support Sen. Barack Obama. A primary reason cited by these black American leaders is Obama's radical position on abortion, including the fact that Obama voted four times in the Illinois Senate against the bill that would provide health care to babies born alive after a botched abortion.
Why is the issue of abortion so important to black American leaders? Black communities are being devastated by abortion which is tantamount to black genocide. 35% of abortions in the United States are performed on African-American women, while they represent only 12% of our nation's female population. According to the 2000 Census, 14 million (17 million as of 2007) African-American children have been killed through abortion. This means that more African-American babies have been killed by abortion during the past 30 years than the total number of African-American deaths from all other causes combined, including AIDS, heart disease, cancer, violent crimes and accidents. This is a crisis in black America that Obama does not care about.

Black Pro-Life Advocate Says Barack Obama Still Misleads on Abortion Votes - This eye-opening website features the words of a leading African-American pro-life advocate who says Obama continues to mislead the public about his votes on an abortion/infanticide bill. Even more troubling is the fact that in July 2007, Obama said: "The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act." That bill would make unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy the national law and overturn any abortion limits in all 50 states. The bill would also require taxpayer funding of abortion, eliminate parental notification laws, and end restrictions on partial-birth abortion.

View Obama's Abortion Voting Record - Obama actively opposed the legislation in the Illinois Senate that would have provided health care to babies born alive after a botched abortion. In 2001, he voted "no" in committee, spoke against it on the Senate floor, and voted "present" on the floor. In 2002, he voted "no" in committee, spoke against it on the Senate floor, and voted "no" on the floor. Obama was the sole senator to ever speak against it on the Senate floor. The U.S. Senate passed the federal bill unanimously, with Senators Barbara Boxer and Ted Kennedy speaking in support of it. The pro-abortion group, NARAL, expressed neutrality on the federal bill. On August 5, 2002, President George W. Bush signed it into law.
For four years Obama has said he would have supported the federal version, but that simply isn't true. In 2003, as chairman of the Illinois Senate's Health and Human Services Committee, Obama voted "yes" on an amendment that made the Illinois version identical to the federal one. However, he then voted "no" on the amended bill.

Obama Lied About His Abortion Voting Record During the Third Presidential Debate - An analysis of the third presidential debate shows that Obama lied about his legislative action on abortion.
Obama Lie One: Obama stated that the Born Alive Infant Protection Act "said you have to provide lifesaving treatment and that would have helped to undermine Roe v. Wade."
Truth: The legislation applied to babies that were born live, living completely outside their mothers' womb and no longer under any jurisdiction of Roe v. Wade.
Obama Lie Two: Obama stated, "And the Illinois Medical Society, the organization of doctors in Illinois, voted against it. Their Hippocratic Oath would have required them to provide care, and there was already a law in the books."
Truth: Illinois abortion law to this day only protects babies that survive an abortion who the abortionist deems fit to live. Obama opposed closing this loophole by voting against legislation to mandate a second doctor be present at deliveries of all babies born alive, in order to independently assess their viability.
Obama Lie Three: "I am completely supportive of a ban on late-term abortions, partial-birth or otherwise, as long as there's an exception for the mother's health and life, and this did not contain that exception."
Truth: Note Obama's slick use of the phrases "late term" and "partial birth" abortions when the issue is about babies "born alive" after a botched abortion. Obama then starts talking about the "mother's health and life" to deflect attention away from the live baby in need of health care to continue surviving. In 2001, Obama was the only Illinois senator to speak out on the Senate floor against the bill that would provide health care to babies born alive after a botched abortion. What kind of man is Obama who would do that, then lie, straight-faced, about what he had done?

Vatican official attacks U.S. Democrats as "party of death" By Phil Stewart which exposes how the former St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burk who is the head of the Vatican's highest court, the Vatican's Supreme Court of the Apostolic Signature, said that the Democratic Party risked "transforming itself definitively into a party of death for its decisions on bioethical issues." He then attacked two of the party's most high profile Catholics — vice presidential candidate Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — for misrepresenting Church teaching on abortion. Pope Benedict has been encouraging Catholic bishops to speak out more openly on public policy issues to make the Church's voice heard.

Planned Parenthood: Wanting fewer blacks 'understandable' by Bob Unruh uncovers the shocking truth about how Planned Parenthood, the nation's abortion industry leader, says 'yes' when 'donor' wants to reduce minorities. The article includes a video showing how a student-run magazine at UCLA revealed an undercover investigation in which representatives of Planned Parenthood admitted willingness to accept a financial donation targeting the destruction of an unborn black baby.

"Now, where is the reporting the success? You cannot find it."
Treachery abounds everywhere folks.
Very disappointed at Powell's endorsement of Obama, the timing strikes me as being treacherous.

WELL I NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE THE DAY THAT POWELL WOULD MOVE TO THE DARK SIDE.(NO PUN INTENDED). I WATCHED THAT INTERVIEW IN UTTER DISGUST!!!!! I'LL EVEN SAY IT'S A RACE THING, AND I DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHO DON'T LIKE IT. I REMEMBER WHEN I DID MY EXCHANGE TOUR WITH THE 82d IN 86 AND POWELL CAME FOR A VISIT TO BRAGG. ALL THE OLD SENIOR NCO'S THAT KNEW OF HIM DID'T HAVE A HELL OF A LOT GOOD TO SAY ABOUT HIM.

Thank you everybody.
I thought the comments by the Iraqi Staff Brigadier General Ismael Hussain Alsodani, Iraqi Army Defense Attaché, Embassy of Iraq, were very telling and very touching.
The Left won't even acknowledge these comments.

Powell "earned" is rank through politics, not performance. Also, "minority points" entered into promotion greatly in those days. As a 30 year military officer I served during that era.
Furthermore, he graduated from City College of NY, not West Point where other
4 star generals emerge.
Like Al Haig, he is best
remembered as an ass kisser.

Not surprised one bit...

Powell's endorsement makes no difference; Oblahblah is what he is. A liberal liar from A-Z, through all 57 states of Islam.

Great article, Debbie. NBRA is a very good group of honest people who are just trying to get out the truth. I'm glad you found them. ;)

I would ask the question. What was his Thirty Pieces of Silver after his Judas Kiss to his friend(McCain) and to his country?

I'd put zero weight on the Powell declaration. He's never been a real conservative. With this unexplained, substanceless endorsement of Obama, he casts doubt on his judgment, and on his racial biases.
What, blacks can't have racial biases? That's news to me!

without the decision to use military force in Iraq, Libya would now be a nuclear power, the AQ Khan nuclear black market would still be thriving, and we would face an entirely different and more dangerous world situation. Powell was a failure as sec of state, but it was his credibility in 2000 that lent gravitas to the Bush ticket.
Powell is a disappointment, but he was never a conservative, a moderate Republican at best.

I was not surprised to hear Congressman Lewis' racially motivated indictment of McCain/Palin, and I am not surprised to learn that Colin Powell has endorsed Obama. In both instances, these men sacrificed personal integrity for political expediency, because no one who loves America can possibly support a politician who seeks to dismantle our values and traditions.
This is an exceptional post, Debbie ... and I must say typical of your work. It is why I stop by daily. I hope you get a lot of traffic on this article. I hope the videos are getting wide distribution, although I have not seen them previously.

Colin Powell showed himself to be an elitist misogynist during his interview today on “Meet the Press.” He may have been a great general but birds of an "eloquent" feather tend to stick together. He obviously looks down on Sarah Palin’s “hometown values.” I’ll cut this turncoat no slack!
Posted by: Faultline USA | October 19, 2008 at 01:22 PM
Powell always was a closet lefty, it's just that his military service obscured that fact.
His record with the State Dept. is less than stellar, to put it mildly.
