To Grandmother's House Obama Goes ...

Sen. Barack Obama is taking off two days from his campaign this week for an urgent visit to his ailing grandmother in Hawaii.  Madelyn Dunham, 86, has apparently been ill for some time now, in and out of the hospital recently.  It is only natural that Obama would want to spend some time with her.  I want to say that our prayers go out to Mrs. Dunham at this time. 

By all indications she was a good mother and good grandmother who raised her grandson Barack Obama in Hawaii basicallay from the time he was born until the moment he left for college.  Obama's mother died at age 54 of cancer. 

Obama described her as "a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe. "

Obama's maternal grandfather and his father are both deceased, so Mrs. Dunham is his closest living relative from his mother's family.

According to reports, Michelle Obama will hold events in place of her husband in Akron and Columbus, Ohio, on Friday.

There are some who doubt that Ms. Dunham is the only reason for Obama's trip to Hawaii.

Obama is under a tremendous amount of stress to come up with a vault version of his birth certificate. There is an internet rumor that Michelle Obama made some very disparaging remarks towards "white America" by calling them racists. There is the rumor that Obama still is an Indonesian citizen with an Indonesian passport. There is Rumor that a fellow Congressman Eni Faleomavaega went to Indonesia in 2007 for the sole purpose of "acquiring any and all documentation or photographs of a young Barry Soetoro". We are still waiting to hear the audio tapes of Michelle Obama and API.  The latest report says the audio tapes will be released to the public, according to MyAisling (who doesn't trust the API and I have my questions now also):

They claim to hold the tape of Mrs. Obama extorting them to write a favorable story and using all sorts of "white racist" cracks.

They now claim an update at 1600 hours Norway.

Norway is US ET plus 6. Their 2:00PM is our 8:00AM.

In case you missed the API story, here is the gist from African Press Internationl:

So while Barack Obama is in Hawaii, his wife (see above) will be campaigning for him.  All I can say is, "OH JOY".

Maybe Obama could get the "House Negro" to campaign for  him.  Not my words.  Remember when Al Sharpton called Colin Powell a "House Negro" (video here); and Harry Belafonte (here).

One the heels of General Colin Powell's surprising endorsement of Senator Barack Obama, a video was uncovered in which Obama makes the shocking confession that he, Obama, does not have the experience or qualifications to be president of the United States and, thus, the leader of the free world.

Maybe Grandma Dunham can help Obama make up his mind on a few things.

Consider this, if obama is elected and it turns out he is not a american citizen, then by default macaine becomes president, which the democratic party will contest and nancy peolosi will attempt to be sworn in as acting president since macaine was not actually elected to the office and thus the office is open. also what if the democratic leadership (peolosi) knew that obama was not a citizen and is only waiting for the right time to step in. in order for this to work the true birth records must be stalled until after the elections and be released before obama is sworn in. There were no facts, only made-up rubbish. However, if you wish to refer to them as facts, I'll happily point to the unsubstantiated claims one by one. All of this is baseless, (note the word "rumor" - that tells you that there's no facts behind it, see) :

Using other racists as a justification for racial slurs seems to just reinforce the point to me. It distorts from what Sharpton said, and the context it was said in - he was clearly refering to how he felt blacks MAY be percieved in government. That is his view, what possible implication does that have on Powell, furthermore, Obama? That's about as tangential as things get really - Sharpton said "I don't know that they're viewed as House Negroes" - that's the quote - from that the fictious inference was drawn that Al Sharpton called Powell a House Negro. Yet the proof that this isn't true is in the video clip posted. It's not what Sharpton said.

So, again I ask, what is wrong with you people? Some of you are seeing and hearing what you want, rather than what is happening.

Of course, when you watch this "shocking confession" you see that this was in 2004 and he has since had the senate experience which he said he would need to run nationally, he didn't "start now without spending a day in the senate", so he clearly met the criteria he'd set. Shocking! You need a microscope to see the straws you're grasping at.

The amazing thing about this post was that it managed to convey nearly no provable fact, yet the number of rumors and conjectures it yielded was phenomenal; it just read like pure fear to me.

It's as if you're making reality up now, because you don't like the way things are going and you're scared. It's going to be OK - I've never seen any evidence to suggest that "house negroes" are poor judges of who may make a good president.

That said, I'm sure someone around here has heard a "rumor"...

Just one week after the 2004 presidential election, with the result still in doubt in Florida, White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card told Powell that President Bush wanted to "make a change" at the State Department.

Leading up to that moment, DeYoung says, Powell felt frustrated with his effectiveness in the Bush administration.

"He wasn't happy, didn't think he was being listened to," DeYoung says.

The core of DeYoung's book, Soldier: The Life of Colin Powell, consists of a series of long interviews with Powell -- some while he was still Secretary of State, and others after he resigned and left government life.

Powell is portrayed as brilliant, ambitious and morally courageous. Being forced from office after years of loyally supporting the Bush administration, DeYoung says, came as a big embarrassment.

"I think he was angry. He's a very proud person who seldom often allows himself to feel humiliated," DeYoung says.

DeYoung's book also details how the Bush administration may have used Powell's popularity and public standing to gain support for the invasion and occupation of Iraq.
