Not only are our elected officials breaking the backs of working Americans with bailouts for anybody and everybody, but the U.S. Treasury Department has announced it will teach "Islamic finance" to U.S.banking regulatory agencies, Congress and other parts of the executive branch today in Washington, D.C. – but critics say it is opening a door to American funding of Islamic extremism...
What is Islamic finance, a/k/a Sharia financing? Islamic banking refers to a system of banking or banking activity that is consistent with the principles of Islamic law (Sharia) and its practical application through the development of Islamic economics. Sharia prohibits the payment of fees for the renting of money (Interest|Usury|Riba) for specific terms, as well as investing in businesses that provide goods or services considered contrary to its principles (Haraam).
While these principles were used as the basis for a flourishing economy
in earlier times, it is only in the late 20th century that a number of
Islamic banks were formed to apply these principles to private or
semi-private commercial institutions within the Muslim community. (Wikipedia)
'Islamic Finance 101'
According to it's announcement, the "Islamic Finance 101" forum is "designed to help inform the policy community about Islamic financial services, which are an increasingly important part of the global financial industry."
The Treasury Department has collaborated with Harvard University's Islamic Financial Project to coordinate the event. The department says it expects about 100 people will attend the seminar. [snip]
Aiding the enemy
In his essay, "Financial Jihad: What Americans Need to Know," Vice President Christopher Holton of the Center for Security Policy writes, "America is losing the financial war on terror because Wall Street is embracing a subversive enemy ideology on one hand and providing corporate life support to state sponsors of terrorism on the other hand." Except for a hand-full of politicians who voted against Washington bailouts, each day another business, State, or entity turns to Washington with their hands out. No longer do businesses stand or fail on their own, but expect you to pay for their mishandling and living beyond their means. Government wants you to believe this is your responsibility.
From Mongers of Fear, by Robert Higgs, The Independent Institute:
Our evolved psychological and physiological makeup predisposes us to fear actual and potential threats, even those that exist only in our imagination. . . . The people who have the effrontery to rule us, who dare call themselves our government, understand this basic fact of human nature. They exploit it, and they cultivate it. Whether they compose a warfare state or a welfare state, they depend on fear to secure popular submission, compliance with official dictates, and, on some occasions, affirmative cooperation with the state’s enterprises and adventures. . . . Without popular fear, no government would endure more than twenty-four hours.
The fear need not be of the government itself and indeed may be of the danger from which the government purports to protect the people. Of course, some of the threats that induce subjects to submit to government in the hope of gaining its protection and thereby calming their fears may be real. I am not arguing that people who look to government for their salvation act entirely under the sway of illusory threats, although I do insist that nowadays, if not always, many public fears arise in large part if not entirely from stimulation by the government itself. If the people’s fears may be (1) of the government itself, (2) of real threats from which the people look to the government for protection, and (3) of spurious threats from which the people look to the government for protection, we must admit that the relative importance of each type of fear varies with time and place. In every case, however, the government seeks to turn public fear to its own advantage.
Things will only get worse with a Democratic majority and Barack Obama as president. What else can we expect from Americans who vote and look to the government for everything. What ever happened to personal responsibility for individuals, States, and business?

I was wrong about Bush, he did acheive one major accomplishment, he was responsible for the election of Barack Obama.
Conservativism is dead. Thank you Jesus.

Hilarious. It's conspiracy-theory wingnuts like you who are making the phrase "right truth" one of the biggest oxymorons of all time.

One can only watch and wonder at the stupidity of the Left, and the erstwise 'intelligent' people who vote for them.
It seems the country is now in the hands of Comedy Central, All In The Socialist Family...a family full of Meatheads.

Marianne:
I listened to the video at the link you provided, about the Ameros.
I'm not sure about it, haven't heard anything serious about it. I do think there is a faction who would like a North American Union, but ...
Thanks for the link.
