Today is Right Truth's book tour date for Red Sea, by E.A. Benedek. I highly recommend this book. As someone who is very concerned about terrorism and defending America against future attacks, Red Sea brought home one area where America is still vulnerable -- our sea ports.
The story begins with four crashed jetliners and ends with what could be the biggest disaster America could ever imagine ... But you will have to read the book to find out what that is, who is behind the plot, how they planned on carrying it out, and (if) and how the attack is thwarted. An American journalist, Marie Peterssen, the main character, is someone I hope will make a return in future books by Ms. Benedek.
Ms. Benedek does a great job of developing the main characters and keeping the thriller ride going from cover-to-cover. I was particularly impressed with the part Israel played in aiding the United States.
This book is not for the faint of heart, but should serve as a warning to those in power -- much more needs to be done to secure America.
Steve Emerson, author of Jihad Incorporated and founder of The Investigative Project on Terrorism (and friend of this blog), calls Red Sea "A gripping foray into the world of terrorism ... A whirlwind ride." I could not agree more.
The Right Truth Book Club presented RED SEA, by Emily Benedek to readers on October 22, 2008. If for some reason you have not purchased this book yet, you can get your copy and come back and leave your comments here.
E.A. Benedek is a journalist and author whose articles and essays have appeared in Newsweek, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, Glamour, and on NPR, among others. Benedek spent a year following an FBI special agent working counterterrorism and wrote about an F-15C fighter pilot who flew in Operation Shock and Awe. Red Sea is E.A. Benedek’s first novel.

Thank you Deb for bringing this book to my attention. I can't wait to read it. Somehow we have to reach people and scare the hell out of them before all of this reaches our shores. And I firmly believe that it will.
Finally, if both you and Steve Emerson recommend this novel, that's enough for me. I hope this work is read by millions.

It was a great read, in spite of some negative reviews I read ahead of time. I fully expected the end to be a downer, but it met and exceeded expectations.

Sounds like a chilling read and certainly applicable to events today.

Debbie I’m really looking forward to reading Red Sea. I can’t imagine the complexities of writing such a novel like this but Red Sea sounds like a novel with a movie deal not far behind!

Man! What a ride! Can't help but feel that the sexy smart FBI cat - Morgan Ensley is based on a composite of sorts in real life.
Reads like a journal - not a work of fiction.

Another book! Yes, I've read several similar books over the past few years (Richard Clarke's, several in the "How To Hack/Steal/Own..." series) and always learned a lot. Will get this one and give it a read soon.

Morgan Ensley is actually based on a real-life FBI agent I know who is a bomb tech and lives just outside Ft. Worth Texas with a bunch of wolf dogs. He's a trip and a half. I'm happy to answer any questions readers may have. I'll hang out here for the next couple of days. Best, E. Benedek

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. If this had not been election day eve, I think we would probably have had many more readers and comments. The election has been number one around here lately.
I really enjoyed the book and look forward to your next novel or a sequel.
