I thought I was paranoid, but I'm not alone...
Recently fellow counterterrorism friends and I have been discussing the fact that it seems something is in the works, something is hanging over the US, ready to strike. Turns out we are not alone in our concerns. In the last six months or so, national terrorism experts have been sharing their concerns that another strike on the United States is very close. No one is sure of the form this strike will take, nuclear, bio, chemical, or any number of other possibililties available to the terrorists. But they all feel something is just around the corner.

Posse Comitatus
There has been some buzz about this subject for a while now, and it appears it's not just a "black helicopter" paranoid's delusion. There is something on the horizon that our Rulers fears. They are not telling us, of course. Don't want to panic the little people. But something is up, or they would not be softening us up with talk of the Military being used domestically to "take care of us" in case of an emergency.
Whether they expect a serious uprising, or a monumental terrorist attack, or whether it's just the next step in the STATE's bid for total power, it's hard to say.
I'm starting to feel like I need a tinfoil hat, here. I'd prefer to be skeptical, but U.S. Militaary operations within the borders is as new and dreadful and anti-Constitutional as it gets.
And with Zero soon to be "Commander-In-Chief" it could hardly be more dangerous, considering his very casual relationship with the Constitution.Sometimes I think I'm just being paranoid.
Now I'm beginning to wonder if I'm being paranoid enough.
The Gunslinger, The Gunslinger's Journal
You should go read the many comments at The Gunslinger's Journal. Below are the two comments from Infidel Blogger's Allliance and they are very interesting. The first if from friend Michael, who I have great respect for as a person and for the work he does. The second comment is from Midnight Rider, who I am not familiar with but share his concern.

The Homeland Security business puts beans on my table and strings on my guitar, so I do know a bit about what's going on.
You are not paranoid...you are just a bit confused about life in Post-America.
It's
too late to complain now...the precedents have been set in
granite...Y'all slept during Bush-Klinton-Bush...and now you have
handed the tools of tyranny to President Obama.
Patriot Act indeed!
I
didn't hand him the tools. I fought and stamped and cried and kicked
and screamed and tried to take my tools home but no one would let me. .
.
Post-America ;)
Actually, although the Gunslinger is
dealing mostly with America here my paranoia is more global, for lack
of a better word. A disease of the collective spirit in all things.
Some very evil, palpably evil, is afoot, has moved in, taken over,
whatever.
Maybe I harp on it a bit much but it's a feeling I
haven't been able to shake. Especially when I have time to myself to
chew things over.
I dunno. No disrespect to you & whatever
your livelihood, Michael, but I like the other guitarslinger's (Nuge!)
visions of Homeland Security better.
Maybe we need to buy some more tinfoil, ... or maybe we need to make sure we are well armed, well stocked with supplies, and prepared for anything. You decide.
Perhaps the threat comes from within our borders. Just look at the videos and images of Hamas supporters rampaging in the streets of our own cities, threatening Israeli supporters and other infidels. Think about it.
"We will never stop until we avenge the death of all who are killed, injured, widowed and orphaned in Palestine and throughout the Islamic world," said Ayman al-Zawahiri in a new 10-minute audio recording released today on extreme Islamist Web forums. [snip]
"What you are facing today is just occupation and settlement that is limited to one area or one country, but is part of a series in the Crusaders war against Islam," says Zawahiri. "These air strikes are a gift from Obama before he takes office, and from Hosni Mubarak, the traitor who is the primary partner in your siege and murder." (ABC)

...Those of us speaking out and understanding what we're up against are very few and quite powerless in comparison. Remember Cassandra from Homer's "The Iliad"?...
And Orwell said, "During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act." The trick is figuring out exactly what constitutes truth and deceipt these days.

@dsgawrsh: SO what is the basis of your "prediction?"
Posted by: Stormwarning | January 07, 2009 at 09:53 PM
I totally agree and predicted on my blog that some kind of attack will take place in the summer. By then our economy should just about be crumbled and people will be losing their faith in the messiah. I always kid that I wear a tin foil hat, but there really is no need to kid anymore because conspiracy is now reality.

Michael Travis is correct. We are absolutely corrupted from within.

nanc: Scary stuff. I don't trust anything from China these days. It's a different generation for most folks. More people live in cities, no access to land to grow their own food or meat, don't have the knowledge to do so even if they had the land.
Personal responsibility has gone from a 365 day a year thing, planning months and years ahead of time by storing up supplies --- to some people shopping on a daily basis for that day's meals.
Michael:
Thanks for that and the links and information. We should all be disappointed in Washington, but look at what we have ahead of us? Certainly no better and probably much worse.
Stormwarning: Thanks for the link.

p.s. - we canned about 25 cases of vegetables in varying forms last summer and fall - this year i intend to do twice that much.

debbie - it's strange you should mention this. my husband and i have thought the very same thing only we believe they may strike our food industry, if they haven't already.
think about how china slid all the poisoned pet food in.
now imagine hundreds of thousands of "suspect" people working in canneries in the u.s....it would be devastating i know, but the possibilities are endless.
my mother, who btw retired from cannery work in q.c. said they only test certain lots and to make sure it has the correct amount of animal parts (i kid you not), salt, acidity, etc. if all is okay that lot is shipped out. do the math - if that day they say we're testing every 20th can - who's to say the 19 before it weren't compromised, for a better word?
we're fortunate enough to live in an agricultural center. that and we have alot of amish-types with their own bulk stores and such.
who is to say that food isn't already sitting in warehouses? yeah, i'm sounding paranoid now.

The attacks of 9-11 would probably have been thwarted had that insect Sandy Berger and his "Boss" taken action after repeated visits by our Israeli Intelligence chiefs, who gave detailed information regarding threats being made against targets within the New York/Washington area.
Today, the national security apparatus, led by the useless "Department of Homeland Security" are more interested in defaming the likes of Robert Spencer and Joe Kaufman, than they are in investigating the Jihadniks in our midst. This is clearly unacceptable and portends dangerous times ahead for our Republic.
In 2003 I interviewed former FBI Deputy Head Steve Pomerantz in Tel Aviv. Pomerantz stated that the "Anti-Anti-Terrorism Lobby" in Washington had grown so powerful and influential, that Law Enforcement's hands were tied securely behind their backs. In my three years of investigations here in the US, I am saddened to report that Pomerantz was spot-on.

"Homeland Security" was designed to castrate US law Enforcement...and to use new powers against US citizens.
The Administration continues to stand buttock to buttock with the Anti-Anti- Terrorist lobby
The Superpower and Its Courts
By Daveed Gartenstein-Ross
In December, the Washington Post reported that the U.S. government, as part of an agreement it reached with Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, has terminated $6 billion in judgments against Libya. Though it has been called "the forgotten flight" because most attention focused on Pan Am Flight 103, the explosion of Union des Transports AƩriens (UTA) Flight 772 back in 1989 killed 170 people from 17 different countries. The family members of American victims seemingly gained some closure in January 2008 when U.S. district court judge Henry H. Kennedy awarded 44 relatives $6 billion in damages against Libya, so they were justifiably livid when the U.S. government nullified their judgments. Anne Carey, whose mother died on Flight 772, told the Post: "We fought this fight. We stood up to terrorists who took our loved ones and we did so in federal court." She added, "We felt we accomplished something. For it to be dismissed is beyond comprehension."

I just posted about Al Zawahiri and I think it's a foreshadowing for things to come, especially since he is wrongly blaming Obama on the Gaza situation.
I've had similar thoughts, especially after Biden mentioned something about Obama being "challenged."
Let's hope it doesn't come in the form of three Iranian cargo ships that are carrying Shahab-3 missiles, who are enroute to the United States at the moment, who will launch their missiles (two on the east coast and one approaching the west coast).

If we do get 'hit' from without or within, we'll quickly learn what the new Admin is all about. And of course, we'll hear the Ward Churchills whining that we weren't hit hard enough, that we deserve worse.
To that I say this: Israel, KEEP POUNDING THEM! I hope we do as well! God Bless America!

Scary indeed and "The One" has chosen Leon Penetta, to be the next CIA Chief. Someone else in the next administration without experience. We have much to be concerned about.
