I don't know about you, but I've got something akin to 'cabin fever' -- I'll call it 'Washington fever' for lack of another appropriate name. Every day I get up, check the news, and hear the latest idiocy coming from elected officials in Washington. It's like they live in a ivory tower with no concept of what goes on in the real world where you and I actually live. In the real world we must suffer the consequences of the uninformed reckless decisions that are made by professional politicians.
The Democrats are in charge, but over the past few years Republicans have been acting like Democrats-in-training. What we need are some leaders with good old fashioned real world common sense, faith and morals. "Intellectuals, e.g., those with graduate degrees, have among the worst,
if not the worst, records on the great moral issues of the past
century. [snip] ...the current economic decline was brought about in large measure by
people in the financial sector widely regarded as “brilliant.” Of
course, it turns out that many of them were either dummies, amoral,
incompetent, or all three." says Dennis Prager.
In a world where terrorists still want to destroy America and Israel either here in the US or abroad; in a world where financial institutions are corrupt, failing, and being propped up by governments (i.e. hard working average people); in a world where many believe it perfectly OK to kill unborn babies or use them for experiments; in a world where there is very little value given any more to personal responsibility and rewarding hard work and values ... We need new leaders who can stand firm on Conservative values.
The Republican Party is disorganized, had no concrete platform, and no leaders. Thomas Sowell says, "At the heart of these internal battles have been attacks on Rush
Limbaugh by Republicans who imagine themselves to be so much more
sophisticated because they are so much more in step with the political
fashions of the time."
Maybe those Republicans who put a high value on being accepted in elite circles should be embarrassed by the narrowness of their elite friends, who disdain or demonize people whose principles they disagree with, instead of answering their arguments. (continue)
Conservative Americans fear the Socialist, Marxist, Progressive direction this country is headed. Joe the Plumber got the truth out of Barack Obama during the campaign. Obama and those behind him whispering in his earpiece and writing the words on his teleprompter, are pushing for redistribution of wealth. "When government decides how much money each of us should have, we are
no longer free. Make no mistake: Obama will not use the tax code and
other weapons of government just to fund government services, but to
determine how income is distributed. Don't let the difference be lost
on you." says David Limbaugh.
You and I, fellow Conservatives and Sane Americas, are not at fault here. We are injured parties to this insanity. John Hawkins in his article "Five Ways That Insanity Has Become The New Normal In America", says:
Since Barack Obama has been elected, gun sales and copies of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged have flown off the shelves. Meanwhile, there's a Russian academic all over the news predicting that America will soon collapse, "tea parties" springing up all over the country, and the stock market has been doing a great impression of Michael Richards' career since he left Seinfeld.
Phyllis Schlafly asks, "What are Republicans going to do about this new challenge from the left to begin "remaking America" (Obama's Inaugural words) ... If Republicans want to recapture Congress in the 2010 elections, they
will have to organize both locally and with modern technology." That's a good start for Republicans, but technology and organization won't do any good if they cannot decide on what they believe and what direction they want to take the country.
VP Joe Biden was correct when he said Obama would be 'tested'. One only has to look at the headlines each day to see the threats facing America.
Moscow 'can station bombers' in Cuba, Venezuela: Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has offered to let Russia use his country's territory to station strategic bombers, according to the official Russian news agency. Moscow could also "possibly" use Cuban territory, the report added.
I read somewhere that Israel is being discouraged from attacking Iran's nuclear program because it would be dangerous for the entire situation in the Middle East. I'm waiting to hear an alternative option Israel can use to protect herself. I'm waiting... And while we wait, Iran continue as do the rockets coming from Gaza.
Two Gaza Rockets Hit Israel: Military: Two rockets
fired from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip slammed into open fields in southern
Israel overnight, without causing any casualties or damage, the Israeli military
said on Saturday. "The two Qassam-type devices were fired from the northern Gaza
Strip and landed in the western Negev," a military spokeswoman said, referring
to the crude, homemade rockets used by Palestinian armed groups.
U.S. ambassador calls findings on Iran nuclear program 'troubling': Findings in a recent U.N. report that Iran's nuclear program "has military dimensions" are "troubling," the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations said Tuesday. Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, has expressed concern about Iran's nuclear program. "Iran also still refuses to respond constructively to IAEA questions about its past work to develop a nuclear weapons capability," the ambassador, Susan Rice, told a U.N. Security Council subcommittee that deals with ensuring sanctions against Iran are being enforced.
What is Barack Obama doing? The same thing former US President George W. Bush did: Obama extends sanctions on Iran -- President Barack Obama on Thursday extended US sanctions for at least another year, saying the Iranian government's policies continue to pose an "extraordinary threat" to the US. The US enacted tight sanctions on Iran following the 1979 hostage crisis and they have remained in place since.
A new effort is supposedly underway to find Osama bin Laden. The target is Chitral, once a trekkers’ paradise in Pakistan that has been sealed off to outsiders and is now regularly buzzed by American spy drones. (NY Daily News)
A lengthy review of evidence, including recent Predator fly-bys, Bin Laden’s tapes since 9/11 and interviews with three dozen experts on Al Qaeda, Pakistan and special operations, point to these vast mountains as the terror chief’s most likely haven.
Captured Al Qaeda leaders have given up as his hideout. “Debriefings of Al Qaeda leaders arrested confirmed this,” said Rohan Gunaratna, author of “Inside Al Qaeda.”
Two senior foreign officials said the nearby town of Kalam also is suspect. (read it all)
There is a huge void in leadership in this country, it's a perfect opportunity for Republicans. Let's hope they can take advantage. Let's hope common sense, Conservative values and morals win.

Some good, old-fashioned conservative Republican leadership, with the right mix of spine and plain-speaking, would be nice. I know they're out there, somewhere!
