deny before my Father who is in heaven." --Matthew 10:33
The White House had a monogram that symbolizes the name of Jesus hidden from the backdrop of a speech President Obama gave at Georgetown University Tuesday.
The letters IHS, which represent the first three letters of “Jesus” in Greek, stand on a wooden archway above the dais where Obama gave his speech.
The White House requested that all university signs and symbols behind the stage be concealed, said Julie Bataille, spokeswoman for the Jesuit-founded school in Washington, D.C.
"The White House wanted a simple backdrop of flags and pipe and drape for the speech, consistent with what they've done for other policy speeches," Bataille told The Washington Times.
"Frankly, the pipe and drape wasn't high enough by itself to fully cover the IHS and cross above the GU seal, and it seemed most respectful to have them covered so as not to be seen out of context."
The Catholic University of America, also in Washington, might have handled the situation differently. "I can’t imagine, as the bishops’ university and the national university of the Catholic Church, that we would ever cover up our religious art or signage for any reason,” Catholic University spokesman Victor Nakas told The Times, ( Newsmax, hat tip Cristi Li, images CNS)
I'll leave the commentary to you readers. What say you?

Barry's handlers and teleprompter won't brooke a competing Messiah.

I dunno, at first it didn't seem like a big deal but I believe you've convinced me otherwise.

In reading other reports on this, Obama actually asked for ALL of the Christian symbols to be removed, not just the one in this article.

Obama just didn't want any competition from the real Messiah.

I can't even imagine what it'll be like at Notre Dame, if this is his modus operundi. Every time they seem to reach rock bottom, they bust out the dynamite and blast through the bedrock.

What is Georgetown without Christ. It's why they are a Christian school. Their website says they have a "Catholic and Jesuit Identity."
What kind of President asks a school to do this?

in his attempt not to offend anyone, he succeeds in offending many.

BARRY THE KENYAN MUSLIM HAS DONE IT AGAIN WHERE POLITICAL CORRECTNESS IS CONCERNED. SEEMS IT DID NT STOP HIM FROM GENUFLECTING TO THE SAUDI KING THOUGH. BARRY IS A LYING, CONIVING, LIBERAL - SOCIALIST DIRTBAG WHO DID NT LIE ABOUT SAYING THAT HE WAS ALL ABOUT CHANGE. I ONLY HOPE AFTER HIS TERM IS DONE THAT WE LL STILL RECOGNIZE THE GOOD OL U.S.A.

This President is way full of himself. I think the Christian Universities need to stand up for their beliefs. It is equally their fault. I think the media and atheist have bashed Christianity so much, followers are afraid to stand up for their beliefs. Expect to be prosecuted, it is not an easy thing to do, but GOD will back you up!

my husband were doing research online last night as to whether or not he's the anti-christ...so far, i'm leaning towards, no, but i haven't ruled it out.

I posted on this story as well. The administrator of the building should have said "well, sorry, we don't want him speaking in here then. He can speak outside and just have the PA system indoors where we can all hear him" would've been my response.

Sorry folks -- you are all trying to create a conspiracy that is not true. As an event planner, I know all speakers have pre-written standard stage requirements. All they did was give Geoergetown the 'rider" and Georgetown complied. Stop trying to make an issue out of everything . That is why the republican party is in the swamp.

Many before me have said exactly how I feel. I don't even go to church and this offends me! I am sick of some "sicko" trying to remake America in his own image. I just can't believe the school would allow this to happen....I just can't!!!!!

I am sickened the President of the United States of America would do anything of thsi kind. Perhaps he should brush up on the Christian heritage of this great nation. But... what can you expect from someone with such a skewd backround?
