Dr. George Tiller, 67 year old Wichita doctor who performed abortions since 1970 including late-term abortions, was shot to death today at his church, Sunday, May 31, 2009. The police have some leads they are following, but the shooter is not known at this time.
Tiller's website advertises LATE
ABORTION CARE, ELECTIVE AND THERAPEUTIC LATE ABORTION CARE, FETAL ANOMALY. Gateway Pundit reports:
UPDATE: Wichita Deputy Police Chief Tom Stolz said the gunman fled, but a 51-year-old suspect was arrested some 170 miles away in suburban Kansas City three hours after the shooting:

The Moderate Voice has this, with the title "Dr. George Tiller and Anti-Abortion Terrorism":
Random murder of civilians in order to coerce political concessions doesn’t have a great track-record. But direct action terrorist violence against abortion providers has, I think, proven to be a fairly successful tactic. Every time you murder a doctor, you create a disincentive for other medical professionals to provide these services. What’s more, you create a need for additional security at facilities around the country. In addition, the anti-abortion protestors who frequently gather near clinics are made to seem much more intimidating by the fact that the occurrence of these sorts of acts of violence.
In general, I think people tend to overestimate the efficacy of violence as a political tactic. But in this particular case, I think people tend to understate it.
From Comments from Left Field, Dr. George Tiller Assassinated:
NOW do all the pearl-clutching conservative bloggers get why that fauxtroversial DHS report on far-right activity was so goddamn pertinent?! As GallingGalla just said on Twitter, “forced-birthers are TERRORISTS on US soil.” This latest killing of a health care provider, martyred for daring to provide women with a vital medical service (in the same week that, here in Canada, the Ontario Provincial Police decided to let another anti-choice assassin evade accountability), only reinforces that all-too-clear fact.
NO, THIS IS NOT AN EXPRESSION OF 'PRO-LIFE', NEVER HAS BEEN, NEVER WILL BE. This is some nut criminal. True pro-life proponents would not kill anyone in cold blood. That is a crime. But you can see by articles like the above, that Tiller the Baby Killer will now probably become a Liberal martyr. From Malignant Liberal Idocy:
... there is no confirmation of a motive. It is safe to assume two things. First, someone has likely decided to take matters into his or her hands to spare future innocent lives. Second, this will give the left a tangible event to which they can hitch their faux moral indignation.
There is one comment on the article at Breitbart and it is indicative of what lies ahead:
I'm not at all surprised. Republicans routinely kill for their religious beliefs, just like the Taliban.
(Posted by someone who goes by the screen name, "DaStupidVoteGOP".)
Given the current political landscape and the numbness of the nation as evidenced by the election of the most radically pro-abortion candidate in history to the office of President, there is little doubt that the Axis of Abortion and their willing accomplices will be able to make something of a martyr out of this horrid excuse for a doctor.
Here's the story:
He had also been the subject of many efforts at prosecution, including a citizen-initiated grand jury investigation. In the latest such effort, in March, Dr. Tiller was acquitted of charges that he had performed late-term abortions that violated state law.
The shooting occurred at around 10 a.m. (Central time) at Reformation Lutheran Church on the city’s East Side, Dr. Tiller’s regular church.
Wichita police said that the shots were fired from a handgun in the church lobby during the morning service. (New York Times)
What say you?
The anti-abortion group Operation Rescue, which has led numerous demonstrations at Tiller's clinic, condemned the shooting as a "cowardly act.", as did Kansans for Life, Priests for Life, Kansas NOW, Phill Klein, Randall Terry, NARAL Pro-Choice America, and Christian Defense League.
UPDATE II: Concerning Operation Rescue, you might be interested in reading this post, NO MERCY, at the Huffington Post. I'm not familiar with Operation Rescue, I am against abortion and specifically late-term abortion, I believe in peaceful protest. Just read NO MERCY. **END UPDATE II**

I just ran through an AOL blog on the subject where pro-"choice" writers are lining up to accuse Republicans, Conservatives, and Christians of complicity. But is anybody but the far left really sorry that this murdering bastard is dead? I think not. Roast eternally in Hell, Tiller!!!

I don't believe that a person who is truly pro-life could do such an cowardly act.
I hope that the murderer is caught, convicted and given the appropriate sentence.
All human life is precious.

Stop supporting terrorism by opposing abortion. You are just like your anti choice role models: Adolph Hitler and Osama bin Laden.
Posted by: libhomo | May 31, 2009 at 07:18 PM
The Left probably had the guy killed, and seeks to hang it on "conservatives", to -- just like their hero, Adolph Hitler -- throw off attention on what the Left is up to, by sullying the Right with the Left's own dastardly handiwork.
Nothing from the Left -- except for decency and honesty -- would surprise me.

...NO, THIS IS NOT AN EXPRESSION OF 'PRO-LIFE', NEVER HAS BEEN, NEVER WILL BE. This is some nut criminal...
Awesome statement, Debbie. I'm gonna link to it. The left (and Little Green Footballs) is going to try to have a field day with this story to bash Christianity, we have to stand up.

Tiller and the one who shot him will both have to answer to God and honestly I would prefer to be in the killer's shoes at that time.
Posted by: Ron Russell | May 31, 2009 at 08:53 PM
Thanks for the comments everybody. Yes the pro-abortion crowd is using this to bash anti-abortion folks, and that means Christians.
Posted by: Debbie | May 31, 2009 at 09:21 PM
Let them bash Conservatives and Christianity all they want to, one day both will be gone and the morons will get what they want, the hard life under the taliban.
Just on this fellow who go shot, it ain't right, prosecute the murderer and all that but i won't be losing any sleep over it.
The fact that the left would martyr a baby-killer is proof enough of their evil and moral bankruptcy.

MK and nancz: Yes, the pro-abortionists are calling pro-life people terrorists ... while they worry about real terrorists who have satellite TV, internet, exercise machines, ...
But killing viable babies is just fine with them.

Well done sir.
You had every moral right to kill Dr Tiller.
He was a known child killer, and had intented to go on killing children.
Killing him to protect the innocent,is a very noble act.
Thankyou, from the people of New Zealand.

If we are a nation of laws, then we do not break the law to claim the moral high ground. The killing of Tiller was wrong, just as his killing of unborn children was wrong. But the individual is not given the moral right to take the law into his own hands.
At the same time, it is not my fault or your fault that the reaction to such bloodshed is an immoral act. Anger begets anger and violence begets violence. I will not cower to the pro-abortion industry and stop those efforts to end this terrible scourge. At the same time I do not want nor does the movement need people who do not act out of love for their enemies and a true compassion of the victims. There is no room for people who do the same thing that the abortionists do.

John Jakubczyk: Exactly. Thank you.

It is impossible for me to have sympathy for a man who has murdered so many precious little human babies. God will judge righteously every one of us! It's time to wake up America! We must corporately fall to our knees and pray to the King of heaven and earth that He would pour out His Spirit and bring revival to our land! We must stand the gap and repent on behalf of all of our national sins! It is not too late to retake America for Christ! "You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free!"
Jesus said, "I Am the Truth...." Let us not also forget to get out and vote!
It is time to elect men and women who fear God more than men, and who do what is right no matter what! Stand with me! Let us fast and pray relentlessly until we see the Lord again!
Love God, Love people

Ha ha that baby killer is dead. Someone should have done it sooner. "Ding Dong the abortionist is dead". If he wasn't killed he would have gone on to kill more babies. Tiller had the gall to be an usher in church on Sundays and kill babies the rest of the week. That's like Satan going to church. May Tiller not rest in hell but burn forever.

No one in Ireland will have any sympathy for this child killer.
All those beautiful little innocent children he murdered down the years and betrayed by the mother who should have been protecting them now get their long overdue posthumous justice.

Im so lost 4 words..This whole situation, this whole crisis with abortions is just sad. What are we to do?? The answer; spread the love of God..but killing and disobeying one of gods commandments (thou shall not kill) is just going to far..yeah he won't be able to kill another precious baby..but to let your heart be filled with so much hate..brings me to tears.."God Bless" Us all & please continue to fight for what's right. We must never give up!!! We shall still speak up for those that can't!!!!

What FOX doesn't tell you is how evil abortions are. That guy had millions of babies blood on his hands, he was guilty of murder. I think that abortionist tempted God by having the nerve to go to Church and be slaughtering babies by the thousands as a job occupation. If you look up the METHODS of abortion you will realize they are inhumane... 1. Suction Method.. They stick a tube up a mothers uterus and suck the babies out into a collection jar... so you just get a fragmented baby. Then they scrape out the remains inside the mother to make sure they didn't miss any body parts. 2. Another way of commiting abortion is.. they get the babies legs to hang out of the mothers uterus and somehow twist the babys legs untilt heir spines break and everything so the baby is delivered dead.. ABORTION IS INHUMANE.. please dont have an abortion be PRO LIFE
God was **** off at this abortion guy... and i am to

Ashley: Yes I know how horrible what this doctor was doing is, it is a torturous murder no question.
But that does not make it right for someone to kill the doctor, because that too is murder.
What needs to happen is to make this and all abortions illegal.
Posted by: Debbie | April 23, 2010 at 05:42 PM
Hmmm......
I'm going to have fun with some synonyms.....
1. Terminate- To bring to an end.
2. Kill- to bring to an end
3. Abortion-The TERMINATION of a pregnancy
(do you see a pattern here?)
abortion is murder. God set out rules for us to follow. one of the important ones is do not murder. Tiller was a murderer, and the assassin of tiller was also.
