United States President Barack Obama is the typical fence-sitter -- One who takes a position of neutrality or indecision, as in a controversial matter. His continued response to the protests for freedom in Iran have turned the world upside down. France, known for weakness and failure to fight, has along with Britain become the new America, while the US is now France. Nile Gardiner spoke on Fox News after Obama's press conference today and expressed what most Conservatives and Republicans have already decided -- Obama is weak -- Britain and France have become the strong nations, expelling Iranian diplomats and boldly condemning the violence in Iran.
He said, "The Obama administrations response to Mahmoud Ahmadinejads fraudulent election victory is cowardly, lilylivered and wrong. ... Iran threatens genocide, Obama offers hot dogs. [The State Department has asked US embassies across the world to invite
Iranian diplomats to 4th of July celebrations, for the first time in
nearly 30 years.]
Nile Gardiner, a British scholar who served as an adviser to Lady Margaret Thatcher and director of the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom at The Heritage Foundation, says neither German Chancellor Angela Merkel nor French President Nicholas Sarkozy really respect President Barack Obama, specifically "They don't have a particularly warm relationship -- and certainly the German chancellor is fundamentally opposed to the kind of big-scale economic bailout plans that President Obama is pushing."
"It's almost as if the president lacks confidence in the greatness of his own nation," he added. "He seems unwilling to aggressively project American global power, as if it were something to be ashamed of." (Washington Post)
What next from the generous Obama team? Burgers for North Korean Stalinists? Water melon for the Burmese junta? Potato salad for the Sudanese-backed Janjaweed militias in Darfur? This whole strategy of “engagement” is a humiliating farce. This isn’t “smart power” diplomacy - it’s kowtowing to some of the most odious tyrannies on the face of the earth. The United States used to be feared by its enemies. Thanks to Obama it’s now increasingly viewed by tyrants as a free lunch. (The Telegraph)
Gardiner has a point, can you imagine Margaret Thatcher or Ronald Reagan's response to Iran? Does Obama's response measure up? No way. From the transcript of today's press conference, you can read Obama's statements.
The world needs to hear decisiveness from the American President, and we are getting fence sitting, luke warm comments with no direction and no encouragement for the Iranian people. Under Obama we have become the France of old.

Great post, Debbie! :-)
You have been amazingly productive lately.
Congratulations!
Have a nice day!

Barry is merely Jimmy Carter II...appeasing Islamofascists, and the results will be disastrous, just as Bill Clinton's inept foreign policy was, resulting in 9/11.

That is a good one, so true.
