The Republican Health Care Plan

I heard John Shadegg (AZ) on talk radio today, on the Roger Hedgecock show.  He was asked about a Republican option for health care reform.  It was an interesting review.  Marsha Blackburn (TN) who I respect, is also for this plan.  Taking the 17 million illegals out of the 47,000 supposed uninsured, that leaves 30,000 who have no insurance. 

Many of those are only without insurance while they are between jobs.  Many of those don't want insurance coverage.  According to Shadegg there will be enough savings from what the government now gives to hospitals for treating the uninsured to cover those remaining with insurance.  For those who do not make enough money to purchase insurance, a credit/voucher from the government will be provided.  I don't know about the numbers, but it sounded good.

There is no way that the Left will go for the Republican plan -- it will never see the light of day.  According to the Left, Republicans should be allowed to die, given some aspirin and hand sanitizer, no insurance, only death.  Yep, that's what they said.

John Shadegg (AZ-03) joined with several Republican Members of Congress including: Congressman Rob Bishop (UT-01), Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn (TN-07), Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (TX-26), Congressman Phil Gingrey, M.D. (GA-11) and Congressman Pete Hoekstra (MI-02) to introduce The Improving Health Care for All Americans Act which will reform America’s health care system making health care services more personal, more affordable and ensure that all Americans receive the care they need.

 

The bill includes:

IF YOU LIKE IT YOU CAN KEEP IT. 
Approximately 83% of Americans are satisfied with the health care they currently receive through their employer.  Under this plan, Americans with employer-provided care can keep it without any change.  Unlike other proposals, this bill will NOT tax your employer-sponsored plan to pay for a government takeover of health care.  And, unlike the Democrats plan, it will not force you to give up the health care coverage you currently have if you choose to keep it! 
 
ALL AMERICANS GET CHOICE AND COVERAGE. 
The bill allows Americans who don’t have employer-sponsored care or those not satisfied with their employer-sponsored plan to buy their own plan on the same tax-advantaged basis their employer enjoys.  Americans who pay income taxes get a dollar for dollar reduction in their tax bill up to $2500 for individuals and $5000 per family.  Americans who don’t pay income taxes get the same amount from the government to buy a policy of their choice; $2500 for individuals and $5000 per family. 

PROVIDES POOLING MECHANISMS AND GROUP PLAN CHOICES FOR EVERYONE. 
This legislation creates expanded options for the purchase of low-cost health care from new pooling mechanisms.  Today, the only health insurance pool available to Americans is their employer’s pool.  Americans not in an employer-sponsored pool buy in what is called the “individual market.”  The Improving Health Care for All Americans Act dramatically expands the insurance pools Americans can select to join by allowing churches, alumni associations, trade associations and other civic groups to set up new insurance pools and offer affordable health care packages to their members.  Instead of having only one group policy to choose from, under this bill, every American will be able to choose from a number of “group plans.”  This will make health care more affordable and portable while not locking individuals into staying at a job simply to keep their health coverage.  Families should not be forced to choose between leaving their employer and having health care.

PRE-EXISTING AND CHRONIC CONDITIONS COVERED AT AFFORDABLE RATES. 
Our fragmented health care system makes it difficult for Americans with pre-existing conditions and chronic illnesses to find affordable coverage.  No American should go bankrupt because they get sick.  The Improving Health Care for All Americans Act strengthens, expands and creates new avenues for affordable health care for the sickest Americans through high-risk pools and reinsurance mechanisms.  The sick and those with chronic conditions will be able to buy coverage at competitive rates. 

CONTROLS COST AND PROVIDES COVERAGE FROM THE BOTTOM UP, NOT THE TOP (GOVT.) DOWN.
The Improving Health Care for All Americans Act takes a radically different approach in contrast to what has been discussed by President Obama as well as Democrats in both chambers.  It gives people choice and places American families back in control of their plans and their health care.  This legislation will reduce the cost and improve the quality of health care while expanding access and portability.

To answer the question -- NO, Barack Obama does not have the courage or inclination to stand up to Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad nor does he have any desire to understand the depth of Ahmadinejad's religious fanaticism.  Glenn Beck however has done a fantastic job of not only investigating Obama and his radical connections -- Beck has investigated and reported on Ahmadinejad's 12th Imam cult beliefs.

...  Beck refers to the Iranian despot as “the Twelver” because Ahmadinejad believes that he must purify the earth with as much human blood (and preferably the Jewish variety) as possible in order to hasten the return of the 12th Imam, the Mahdi, who is the much-anticipated Islamic messiah.

This is precisely what Ahmadinejad was talking about in his UN speech and it is exactly why his regime is in the process of building the nuclear bomb (if it hasn’t already built it). Not surprisingly, we haven’t heard one peep of criticism, alarm or ridicule from the liberal Left about all of this. Glazov mentions the French-born scholar Laurent Murawiec, author of  The Mind of Jihad. who writes about  the suicide-killing manual left behind by Mohammed Atta and the assassination in 1971 of Jordan’s prime minister, Wasfi al-Tell, by PLO terrorists.

As al-Tell lay dying on the marble floor of the Sheraton Hotel in Cairo, one of the terrorists knelt down and began lapping up his blood.   

That is the kind of enemy we are fighting against -- not everyone understands this.  I think Glenn Beck does.

Glenn Beck's book "Arguing With Idiots" had topped the bestseller list with 120,888, according to Drudge.  On Amazon.com the book is number 3, right under Sarah Palin's new book "Going Rogue", which won't be released until November and is already number 2.  It is obvious to me that those who are NOT Conservatives are worried about both Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin.  They are trying to smear them and ruin their message.  I don't think it will work.

Do a Google search for Glenn Beck and you will get everything from high praise to low crazies.  Say whatever you will, but Glenn Beck is doing the research that others are not.  Good for him.

Healthcare Policy solutions in Tennessee

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research wants to let you know that they have taken yet another step forward in providing innovative, meaningful healthcare policy solutions in Tennessee. Too often people forget that healthcare reform can happen on the state level and is not a federal, one size fits all, issue. Today we released a brief highlighting five healthcare reform measures that can be implemented on the state level.  

The brief, titled Implementing State-Based Healthcare Reform in Tennessee calls on state lawmakers to make the following reform measures a top priority when they return to Nashville in January:  

1)     Give individual Tennesseans control of their healthcare decisions by moving away from employer-based insurance.

2)     Allow Tennesseans to obtain health insurance from companies in other states.

3)     Eliminate unnecessary mandates that require individuals to purchase coverage for certain treatments, especially for young adults.

4)     Reform medical licensing laws to encourage greater competition among providers.

5)     Permit public employees and TennCare recipients to utilize health savings accounts (HSAs) in lieu of conventional health insurance plans.

Sarkozy More Hawk Than Obama

It truly is a sad day in American history when the French are stronger on security than the United States.  The headlines say it all:

In October 2008 prior to the November Presidential elections, French President Nicolas Sarkozy was upset with Barack Obama's stance on Iran -- calling Obama “utterly immature” and comprised of “formulations empty of all content.”  It was reported in March 2009 that President Obama recently sent a letter to French President Jacques Chirac (French) expressing Obama's desire "work together...to build a safer world." -- Chirac has not been president of France for over two years. Oops.  (Haaretz)

September 25, 2009, President Obama, French President Sarkozy, and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown stood together to denounce Iran's secret nuclear site at Qom.

Today, Canada’s National Post was a standout with Alex Spillius’ coverage of a clash between Presidents Obama and Sarkozy.

For reasons yet to be determined, the National Post appears to have de-linked their own front page story on their website. Mr. Spillius reported a similar (albeit watered-down) version in the UK’s Telegraph.

Obama: “We must never stop until we see the day when nuclear arms have been banished from the face of the earth.”

Sarkozy: “We live in the real world, not the virtual world. And the real world expects us to take decisions.”

The rest of Sarkozy’s remarks were, well, remarkable:

“President Obama dreams of a world without weapons … but right in front of us two countries are doing the exact opposite.

“Iran since 2005 has flouted five security council resolutions. North Korea has been defying council resolutions since 1993.

“I support the extended hand of the Americans, but what good has proposals for dialogue brought the international community? More uranium enrichment and declarations by the leaders of Iran to wipe a UN member state off the map,” he continued, referring to Israel.

The sharp-tongued French leader even implied that Mr Obama’s resolution 1887 had used up valuable diplomatic energy.

“If we have courage to impose sanctions together it will lend viability to our commitment to reduce our own weapons and to making a world without nuke weapons,” he said.

Mr Sarkozy has previously called the US president’s disarmament crusade “naive.”

No American newspapers seem to have featured Sarkozy’s justifiably derisive remarks about Obama’s naivete regarding the realities of nuclear technology....(continue at Big Government

Congress has quietly approved to fast track the deployment of the BGU-57A/B or Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP). The Pentagon plans to rush the deployment of 10 BGU-57A/B "bunker buster" bombs by June 2010. The MOP is so enormous that it can only be delivered by a B-52 or a B-2A. In fact, the B-2 bombers will need to be refitted in order to carry two MOPs. More at RoA

    To say that we live within challenging times is an understatement of Ivy League proportions. America is under attack from all quarters – from the Islamists who want to conquer the world, from the progressive liberals who want to conquer the Constitution, from Russia who wants to conquer commerce, from China who wants to conquer technology, and from Iran and North Korea who want to conquer the atom. Despite these seemingly insurmountable challenges, President Barack Obama is under direct oath to “preserve, protect and defend” his nation against these barriers to our inalienable rights. Yet, has President Obama carried out his duties to the best of his ability? Apparently not.

    First, to defend something, one has to believe in it. Prior to becoming our 44th President, Barack Obama went on record implying that he was at odds with whether the Constitution mandated redistribution of income in relation to civil rights. Furthermore, he allowed his statements to suggest that he felt that the Constitution was archaic and ill suited to govern modern American values. In fact, the U.S. Constitution is very specific and very deliberate in its power. It limits the influence of government upon its citizens, empowers the individual above the state, and – this is most important – it clearly defines the procedures necessary to alter its content. In other words, one simply cannot redefine the meaning of the Constitution without popular (in both numerical and citizenry terms) approval.

    Second, the oath itself limits any President’s function to one of preservation, protection, and defense of the Constitution. Here again, President Obama has implied indifference towards his oath of office. In matters of preservation, he seems bent on safeguarding commercial institutions such as banks, auto companies, and insurance enterprises which, under the context of the Constitution, are private endeavors operating under individual risk. The Constitution does not – and cannot – safeguard against any risk; only that individuals are permitted to live with the opportunity of such risks. When it comes to protection, President Obama’s malice towards the Constitution becomes even more pronounced as he has consistently retreats from any attempt to corral those within Congress, the press, and other private institutions who seek to abandon the protections of the Constitution in favor of political agenda. These do so by caricaturizing their opponents as “racists”, “domestic terrorists”, “southern rednecks”, etc. when peaceful protest is the very first of human rights guaranteed by the Constitution. With failure to protect goes an inability to defend and President Obama’s silence towards those who seek to dismantle or rewrite the Constitution affirms his hostility towards this revered document of national law and order.

    Third, the mere act of upholding Constitutional law demands that the President respect the consensus of the American people. He cannot serve political agenda because the nation consists of people who did not vote for him as well as those that did. While his policies may be permitted some slant into personal direction, the implications of these policies have to be weighed against the values, morals, and expectations of the entire country. President Obama has confused privilege of office with possession of a blank check to “fundamentally change” a nation far beyond his tenure. When any employee leaves his or her job, they are not permitted to add expenses to the company’s balance sheet and President Obama is nothing more than our temporary employee.

     Fourth, the President’s domestic function is not to grant equality – the Constitution does that – but to protect opportunity. An addict of cocaine held on charges of murder is a human, but not an equal. So is someone who sneaks across our borders illegally, but the president must deny them citizen rights and benefits in order to safeguard the opportunities of those who have followed Constitutional and Legislative mandate. This goes for such matters as healthcare as well. President Obama cannot grant insurance universally, merely protect the opportunity for all to access treatment when necessary. In economical terms, the President cannot guarantee that I have transportation to my job, merely that his policies protect the opportunity to have a job at all (through lowering taxes, increasing commercial incentives, protecting free trade, etc.).

    Fifth, the President is under oath to protect the Constitution of the United States of America. The CEO of McDonald’s does not serve the shareholders of Microsoft even if, for instance, each McDonald’s franchise decided to lay in Windows® operating systems and affiliated software. Subsequently, the United Nations, NATO, Geneva Conventions, and all other international courtesies rank beneath the least of American citizens. Once the President (whoever he or she may be) leaves the territory of the United States, they become our nation’s foremost defender and marketer. They cannot dismiss the fact that they are responsible for the good image of all American citizens anymore than the President of Apple Computers can dismiss an iPod® user because they disagree with the consumer’s choice of music. No President has America’s approval to do anything other than preach the goodwill, benefits, and heritage of the population that he serves even if he should disagree with these values.  President Obama has consistently argued that America’s past is responsible for other’s faults and misdeeds.

    Sixth, the function of President is to humble oneself before their constituency. The Pope, by comparison, responsible for untold billions of souls, leads as a shepherd. President Obama, responsible for defending hundreds of millions of Americans, guides as a narcissist. The more visible a president becomes, the harder it is to step down from the stage. In the grand play of Americana, a president must direct from the off screen wings of the Oval Office. It is not national marketing that creates a hit, but the quality of the act itself. President Obama needs to remain grounded (on Air Force One or otherwise) and allow his nation to soar.

    Seventh, an effective president needs to act as if a sheepdog and not as either a wolf or sheep cloaked within the other’s clothing. They need to be warm, friendly, and loyal yet able to sink their canines into any threat against those within their care. Lassie without scars is simply a house pet. At least a Chihuahua will bark like a Doberman when confronted with a threat. President Obama merely yelps when confronting our nation’s enemies: “It was the last dog that pissed on your lawn!” My dog defended me against an adversary forty times his own weight – and won.

    With its myriad of self-inflicted wounds, can America under the Obama Presidency survive within the dangerous world of ours? Most emphatically yes – providing that the President take cue from the following:

1. The President must accept that there is evil within the world that cannot be conquered, only eliminated. He must consider America to be the only beacon of light within an otherwise tumultuous sea of chaos and judge his actions accordingly;

2. The president must inform the Islamic world that the U.S. Constitution, as written, is far superior to the Quran and therefore his every function is to safeguard the former over the latter;

3. The president must publicly acknowledge that the road to Middle East peace rests upon the model of modern Israel and not ancient Arabia.  A Two-State solution cannot exist if the religion of the one seeks to extinguish the citizenry of the other;

4. The Obama Doctrine must be one in which the ambitions of Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and Venezuela, among others, are kept corralled and padlocked;

5. President Obama must acknowledge that the nuclear threat against the United States is as grave as it has ever been and restore an airborne, continuous thermonuclear deterrence towards any nation that aides and/or abets a Chemical, Biological, Nuclear, or Radiological attack upon its citizens;

6. The president must fully release free market capitalism to shore our competitiveness, our strength, and our determination against “all enemies, foreign and domestic.” In a world where only the strong survive, it is not the time to become weak.

    When the chief executives of the Big Three automakers flew into Washington aboard corporate jets, the Congress and the President lambasted them for traveling in luxury while seeking taxpayer funds. Well, the President himself is guilty of flying all over aboard our Air Force One on matters less important to our nation. Soon, he will be flying to Copenhagen to argue in favor of the Olympics coming to Chicago. It is highly doubtful that he would make such a journey if the city in question were Dallas. As corrupt as Chicago is, it does not deserve a Super Bowl or World Series let alone an event based upon goodwill and international friendship.

    The President of the United States represents the American people – not a clique or sub faction thereof – and therefore must lead according to the desires of the citizens that he serves, as finicky as they may be. His only mandate is to defend the Constitution of the United States of America as written. Otherwise, our whole world may go up in smoke…

At the end, Richard Cohen gratuitously lets Obama off the hook, by saying that in the moment in which Obama is telling a lie, he really means it. Oh, please--what is Cohen doing, recycling his old columns about Clinton? However, prior to that unseemly retreat, Cohen presents a searing indictment of Obama's orchestration of last week's emergency over the Iranian uranium enriching plant, an "emergency" that Cohen makes clear was a complete and total fake. I also suggested, by means of a joke rather than argument, that it was a fake. But Cohen's picture is devastating.

Five More Iranian Nuclear Sites Discovered

Five more Iranian nuclear sites have been discovered, according to the following report.  Why wouldn't Iran go full force ahead with their nuclear ambitions?  They certainly are not going to get any resistance from the new and improved USA under President Barack Obama.  US troops are fighting for their lives and the lives of innocent Afghanistan citizens while the commanders on the ground are begging for more troops.  Unfortunately our dear leader doesn't have time to sit down and meet with the Generals.  Today we hear that  Barack Obama and the US administration reportedly ''are not inclined'' to send extra combat troops to Afghanistan.

The British MI6 agents, who uncovered an underground uranium enrichment plant near the Iranian city of Qom, have discovered five more similar operations in the mountains northern Iran, increasing the number of Iran’s nuclear facilities to seven. Photos and schematics of the plants have been hand-delivered to Meir Dagan, the head of Mossad. Mr. Dagan has conveyed them to the G20 leaders who were meeting in Pittsburgh.

The information, according to British reporter Gordon Thomas, was obtained from “an Iranian nuclear scientist’s smuggled laptop, defectors, and satellite imagery.”  (by Dr. Paul Williams at The Last Crusade, continue reading)

Why America Could Be Doomed

One of the best places for a Muslim to live is the United States. In a lot of ways, conditions are better here than almost anywhere. As a Muslim not permitted to wear my head covering as a politician in my home country, Turkey, I know.

Think about it: In Turkey, where the vast majority of the population is Muslim, you will not find a lawyer with a beard or a student at a university wearing a head scarf, but you can find plenty in New York City. In Tunisia, you won't see a religiously dressed physician at university hospitals – but you can in Alabama.

American Muslim women can engage in any sport they choose wearing their religious garment – unlike in France and Italy where Islamic-approved swimsuits, and therefore Muslim women, are not welcome in the pools.

The White House and universities alike host iftars to celebrate Muslims' holy month of fasting. Elementary school students can attend Friday prayers without having to worry about absentee records.

These small but significant examples of freedoms attest to the country's sine qua non of inalienable citizenship rights: freedom of expression and freedom of religion.   (from the article "Best place for Muslims to live? In the 2008 presidential election in the US, Republicans were given a group of candidates that were mediocre at best.  Through forces beyond our control we ended up with RINO John McCain as our candidate.  Hopefully McCain won't run again.

Looking forward to the 2012 elections it seems obvious that the same old people will be

forced down our throats again --  Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney to name two.  AllahPundit  wonders "...how much of an issue ObamaCare will still be in two years when the primaries start hopping" and how much of a problem RomneyCare in Massachusetts will be for Romney and if it will help Huckabee. 

Sarah Palin's book will be out November 17, 2009 and is titled "Going Rogue:  An American Life".  (AP)  The publisher says the book containes "fascinating detail"  I can't wait to read it.  Whether Palin will run in 2012 or whether she will be a factor should be interesting.

Cheney for president???  No not Dick Cheney, Liz!  Powerline writes:

The New York Times offers a portrait of Liz Cheney as conservative activist, focusing on her appearance at the "Smart Girls Summit" in Nashville. The Times' portrait is flattering, perhaps unintentionally so. I liked this comment by Liz's sister Mary:

Ms. Cheney's resolute national security positions seem to differ not at all from those of her favorite vice president. "I think you'd be hard-pressed to find any daylight at all between Liz's and my father's views," said her younger sister, Mary Cheney. "It's not because she's been indoctrinated. It's because he's right."

Liz Cheney would be a wonderful candidate and probably a great president of the United States and leader of the free world, (will we still be the leader of the free world in 2012) -- but I'm not sure how far a Cheney could get in this political atmosphere.

America will be a different country in 2012 than it was in 2008.  We can see what has happened in just 9 months with Barack Obama, and he has only begun to "change" America.  Obama has clearly submitted to Islam, giving special preference to it here at home and around the world, as well as to Muslim nations and leaders.  He has clearly thrown Israel under the Obama bus and the Palestinians clearly think he is on their side. 

Obama's no-longer questionable associations have been proven worse than any of us previously thought, thanks to a few who actually did some digging.  Experts have labeled Obama as narcissistic.  We are told that narcissism can make politicians leaders and cheaters.  It can also destroy a country.

Things can be turned around, at least I hope so.  But we must not allow a RINO to be forced upon us again.  If we do, we may truly be doomed.

There is a glimmer of hope though.  Even some Lefty sites are wondering: Is Obama just a blowhard who likes to blame other people?

Over at NewsReal we have a story you might be interested in. On Friday David Horowitz challenged The O'Reilly Factor's decision to have Marc Lamont Hill as a

commentator on Iran. Hill's specialty is hip-hop and rap culture. Horowitz's point was that surely there are more qualified people -- including leftists and other African-Americans -- to discuss foreign policy.

Hill reacted angrily on his Twitter.

David Horowitz responded yesterday, noting a new problem with Hill as a Fox News commentator: his Twitter page featured an image of Assata Shakur, a fugitive cop-killer currently being sheltered in Cuba, wallpapered as the background.

Hill again reacted on his Twitter, defending Shakur as a "freedom fighter."

And now Horowitz has responded again today.
