What should we do about Hasan?

That's the question that everyone was asking concerning Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan during his entire professional history, " What should we do about Hasan?"  Apparently the answer was to not only keep him around, but to continue promoting him, all in the name of political correctness.  The intelligence agencies aware of his emails to an al-qaeda related imam said they "would have been crucified" if they had launched a full-fledged investigation of Hasan.  Political correctness.  As a result 13 are dead, 29 injured and an entire military base terrorized.

 ... "Everybody felt that if you were deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, you would not want Nidal Hasan in your foxhole." ...

When a group of key officials gathered in the spring of 2008 for their monthly meeting in a Bethesda, Md., office, one of the key and most perplexing items on their agenda was: What should we do about Hasan?

Hasan had been a trouble spot on officials' radar since he started training at Walter Reed, six years earlier. Several officials confirm that supervisors had repeatedly given him poor evaluations and warned him that he was doing substandard work.

Both fellow students and faculty were deeply troubled by Hasan's behavior — which they variously called disconnected, aloof, paranoid, belligerent, and "schizoid." The officials say he antagonized some students and faculty by espousing what they perceived to be extremist Islamic views. His supervisors at Walter Reed had even reprimanded him for telling at least one patient that "Islam can save your soul."  (NPR)

You can go to NPR and read the entire article, which list all the officials that were present at that meeting, you will be shocked.  These same people felt "if Hasan deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, he might leak secret military information to Islamic extremists"and "Hasan might be capable of committing fratricide, like the Muslim U.S. Army sergeant who killed 14 fellow soldiers in 2003 by setting off grenades at a base in Kuwait". 

So why was Hasan promoted and sent to Fort Hood and why did these individuals not do something?  Read the article.

Clearing up lies:

The Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 people last week at Fort Hood, Tex., did not formally seek to leave the military as a conscientious objector or for any other reason, an Army official said, despite claims by one of his relatives that he explored seeking a discharge.(Washington Post)

The Taliban call Hasan a "hero" and warn of "further attacks".  StratFor says "it is tactically impossible for a government to identify every aspiring militant actor and to pre-empt every act of violence", and that is true.  But this guy was screaming for an investigation.

And here we are again, asking "What will we do with Hasan?". . .

Ah, but he's an American citizen and member of the US Military? Okay, fine: he has committed an act of treason. Try and execute him.

As for his probable argument (and being happily made by appeasement-oriented media that are too stupid to do some basic reasoning) that it is against Islam for Muslim to kill Muslim, I point out centuries of proof that refute that. And one doesn't even need the centuries past: the last Muslim suicide bomber, who blew up women and children in an open-air market. Every one of them Muslim, like the bomber.

I've heard some people say that we cannot remove Muslims from the military and, sometimes, they equate such action with interning the Japanese during WWII.

However, I see a discrepancy in their analysis. Japanese internment was wrong -- and even the FBI's J. Edgar Hoover was against it -- because we were basically imprisoning people for WHO they were. Muslims, however, do not represent a "Who" but a "What".

They are people who subscribe to a particular belief and this particular belief has some very strong canons as far as dealing with people who do not subscribe to their beliefs and even mandating that they actually lie about how they view their beliefs.

Now, I ask you, would you -- COULD you -- trust a person from a faith that indoctrinates lying to further their cause? On the one hand, if they are radicalized they may lie to conceal it. On the other hand, if they are "moderate" we cannot know they are without questioning whether, as good Muslims, they are prepared to lie to us in order to fit in with society.

As much as I detest isolating a particular people for their beliefs, the U.S. may have no other option. "He who lives by the sword..." Hey, if they want to accept their historical practices then they must accept our societal prejudices.
