Najibulla Zazi, the 2009 failed U.S. subway bomber, had contact with Adnan Gulshair el Shukrijumah

Najibullah Zazi and his fellow terrorist friends have been cooperating with the federal authorities since their arrest.  According to multiple reports beginning with the AP,  "prosecutors have said in court that they met with two senior Qaeda leaders in Pakistan, Saleh al-Somali, the group’s head of external operations, and Rashid Rauf, a key operative, who sent the men back to New York to carry out a suicide strike." 

Now we learn Zazi et al also had contact with senior elusive al-Qaeda operative Adnan Gulshair el Shukrijumah, a/k/a Jafar the Pilot,a/k/a Jafar al-Tayar,  a/k/a  Mohammed Sher Khan.

He is now 35 years old, has been fluent in English, has a 5 million dollar reward offered by the FBI, took pilot training at the same time as the September 11, 2001 terrorists, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed referred to him as a senior al-Qaeda leader who was referred to as the next Mohammed Atta -- only with a nuclear device.  

Shukrijumah, a computer engineer whose last known address was his parent's home at Miramar, South Florida, is believed to have been hand-picked by Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the mastermind behind the September 11 attacks, "to keep the terrorist network alive in the US".  source

He is said to have been born in Saudi Arabia but has a passport from Guyana  and in some instances is referred to as Guyanese.  

In the 80's and 90's he spent time in NewYork, Brooklyn, and also spent time in Florida.  He did translation for the blind sheik Omar Abdel Rahman.   It was in Florida that  he received legal permanent residency status -- a “green card,” which permitted him to acquire a federal passport. He never became a naturalized American citizen. In the course of the next five years, Adnan would obtain additional passports from Canada, Trinidad, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia.  Blog friend Alan Peters writes:

Spreading the fire of jihad, Adnan attended services at the Masjid al-Iman mosque in Fort Lauderdale, where he became acquainted with a host of wannabe terrorists, including Jose Padilla, who planned to detonate a radiological bomb in midtown Manhattan; Imran Mandhai, who was convicted of attempting to blow up nuclear power plants in southern Florida; Moessa Shuyeb Jokham, who was arrested for plotting terrorist attacks against Jewish community centers and businesses; and Hakki Akksoy, who was jailed for ten years when a cache of deadly explosives was found in his home. Questioned about the aspiring terrorists, Sofian Abdelaziz Zakout, director of the American Muslim Association and a friend of the Shukrijumah family, said: “I saw [Adnan el Shukrijumah, Padilla and Mandhai] at different times in different mosques

El Shukrijumah arranged flight training for Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi in Venice Florida at Hoffman aviation that served Yeslam bin Laden, Osama bin Laden's brother.

Following the training at Horrman, Adnan accompanied Atta and Shehhi to the Airman Flight School in Norman, Oklahoma, where Atta and Shehhi signed up for advanced training on commercial jet airliners.

Enter Right Truth reader in Guelph Ontario:  A reader here at Right Truth who lives in Guelph Ontario contacted me, stating that she thought Adnan was living in her apartment building along with 6 other men, that they were taking flying lessons and that they paid no rent.  She was very frightened.  I contacted the FBI for her:

On January 25, 2007, witnesses testified that Adnan was residing in an apartment complex within the quaint Canadian city of Guelph in southern Ontario. They said that Adnan and nine other Muslim men who lived in the building made daily visits to the regional airport where they believed he was working.

The witnesses contacted the authorities and expressed concern about their personal safety, especially since several lived in the complex. But no officials appeared at their doorways to substantiate their claims.

Following the sightings, expert hackers, including a computer wunderkind who served with the government in Ottawa, managed to approximate Adnan’s present whereabouts by securing his screen name and gaining access to Adnan’s communications to family members, including Nabil in Florida and his sister Aida in Arizona, and fellow jihadis, including Gulshair’s former friends and associates in Brooklyn and Miramar.

Several communications from Adnan were traced in internet posting sites. These included two universities in southern Ontario, the business center a major hotel, and radical Islamic mosques. Through these efforts, the technicians were able to triangulate Adnan’s whereabouts to an area of one kilometer.

Such leads were investigated by former Canadian law enforcement officials, including a retired member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who decided in late October 2007 that the time was right to contact the FBI and to bring the long search to a salubrious end.

But the contact to the FBI was made with the stipulation that a criminal arrest warrant be issued for Adnan so that he could be collared, taken into custody, and extradited to the United States. This condition proved to be too taxing .

Upon receiving the information, the federal officials -- once again -- failed to process the findings and to conduct an investigation.

And So It Goes

In shocking news and failure on our government's part, no criminal arrest warrants have been issued:

... Family Security Matters has learned, the U.S. Department of Justice, even after posting rewards, setting up hotlines, and issuing BOLOs (“Be-on-the-Lookout” alerts) has failed to issue criminal warrants for their arrest.  [snip]

They point out that suspected terrorists, under the guidelines of the Patriot Act, need not be fugitives who have been indicted by grand juries in U.S. District Courts. This is all well and good if Adnan if cornered within the U.S.

But, if he is sitting in a café in Canada or Mexico, neither the BOLO nor the warrant as a material witness will be sufficient to take him into custody and to extradite him for questioning by the FBI or Homeland Security.

“A material witness warrant has no weight at all in Canada,” explains a retired RCMP official who opts to remain anonymous “Our law enforcement officials cannot do anything unless there is a criminal offense that is extraditable.”

The failure to obtain arrest warrants remains coupled with other oversights of equally staggering proportions. On October 31, 2006, members of a well-known security company spotted Adnan el-Shukrijumah on the campus of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.

They dutifully reported the sighting to the FBI and CSIS. They remain waiting for a response.  (more at The Last Crusade)

Those who believe that ‘Government’ is a catchall solution for individual or communal problems are sadly mistaken, as there is not one instance where federal, state, or municipal involvement has produced satisfactory results that were efficient, effective, and profitable. Failure, however, can indeed be an option for the world’s communist, socialist, and fascist ideologies reek with the very stench of such abject failure. It is very easy today for the disillusioned to seek the comforts of federal excuse for deferring to others has become a panacea for individual apathy. Like Homer Simpson in that politically illuminating The Simpson’s episode where he runs for garbage commissioner, we have allowed ourselves to fall for the expectations of “Can’t someone else do it?”

What befalls us if someone else does provide us with solutions to our daily difficulties? Do we learn to fish as Confucius professed, or do we become trapped into an endless cycle of begging for our daily fillets? And what of Christ’s own chastisement of the unprofitable servant who preferred to protect the status quo instead of risking his master’s investment for profitable gain?¹  If the human individual loses their unique individuality, then what is left is not necessarily human in nature – but animal; a domesticated beast quite interchangeable with any other creature of burden.

We can see this devotion to non-existence erupt all around us, such as the recent G-20 summit when protesters rallied against capitalism. What these malcontents fail to realize, however, is that it is not free market enterprise that leads to the world’s calamities, but free will greed. Contrary to popular – read that, ignorant – opinion, capitalism is what provides aid through personal and corporate contributions to the Red Cross, United Way, and even the various United Nations’ relief agencies. No government, obviously, can succeed without the implementation of taxes and herein lays the problem: governments do not produce, they consume.

Almost everyone would agree that it is far less expensive to purchase an automobile from a private seller than it is through a dealer. As many people, perhaps, would say that it is more convenient to print baseball or concert tickets from the Internet than it would be to drive across town and purchase the same tickets from a store. How, then, could almost half of the United States still believe that anything obtained through the government ‘middleman’ is more convenient than acquiring the same product or service directly from the manufacturer or provider?

One only has to reflect upon the failings of Progressive government or enterprise to understand the liabilities of bureaucracy. Did unionized labor prevent General Motors from bankruptcy or you from forking over several years’ salary for a new SUV? Did government-mandated “mortgages for everyone!” save you from foreclosure? Has national security prevented twelve million illegal aliens from sapping your community’s precious resources? No, they have not – and I do not even have to come up with the statistics to prove it either. No one has to prove the obvious.

Progressives have always tried to manipulate the facts for their own benefit. Progressive Extraordinaire, Woodrow Wilson, had his Committee on Public Information influence public opinion through the newspapers and movies during the buildup for war against Kaiser Wilhelm’s Germany.²  As Assistant Secretary of the Navy, future Progressive President Franklin Delano Roosevelt “loved every minute” of his tour of the Great War.³  This leaves one wondering why it took former Navy official FDR six years – during a period of highly anticipated conflict – to prepare the United States for WWII unless he intentionally wanted the military – specifically his Navy – to suffer. It is also worth noting that it was President Roosevelt – not the “tyrannical” J. Edgar Hoover of the FBI – who herded Americans of Japanese descent into concentration camps a la the more infamous Progressives Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin.

After 1945, when America emerged as the free world’s benefactor, Government-based disasters took on epic proportions. The very agency charged with keeping our nation free – the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) – was left to the comical exploits of “fun-loving”, “well-to-do liberal Democrats” who viewed themselves as “a kind of elite within the elite.”⁴  The more effective Soviet KGB thought that they were rank amateurs.⁵  I view the Agency as the biggest bureaucratic mess in the history of the United States. Do not worry, though. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is rapidly moving up from second place.

The Bureau, which once ‘innocently’ sent a representative to speak at a hostile gathering of terrorist thugs in Detroit (Hamas, Muslim Brotherhood, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, etc.) in 1993,⁶  was also the very agency charged with bringing the CIA under control.⁷  Talk about the blind leading the blind, we now have the moronic leading the moronic. God help us all.

It is not that America does not produce exceptionally qualified and gifted individuals, but that Progressive political correctness focuses on where people were educated and not how they learn. This preference for institution over individual recently led to one of the worst attacks against the CIA ever.⁸  Not that the Agency has ever been known as a hallmark of intelligence (pun intended), but its creation under the cloud of Progressive Liberalism has ensured that the CIA had been infiltrated to the highest levels by actual communist spies. Whereas the buzzword today has been “too big to fail”, the CIA has become representative of a government option that is far too big to succeed.

Our nation was founded upon the precept that the only good government was the simplest one. This is why our Constitution was written in terms so easy to understand that even illiterate ‘country folk’ could understand their intent without question. There is no need for an attorney to understand, for example, the right to freely express one’s opinion or to engage within one’s particular religious practice without government interference. Progressives complicate matters so much, however, that it takes months to pass new legislation if not simply read what is being introduced. Just the other day we have had four justices of the Supreme Court – honorable and learned men and women – who could not fathom our inalienable right to keep and bear firearms even though the most simple-minded of their country can read these words plainly.

Why Progressives cannot decipher the obvious is because they subconsciously seek the power to persuade. Progressives are the very sort of people who launch wars against inanimate objects.⁹  Whereas I see an idiot with an M-80, for instance, they see a nation being assailed by a firecracker and so must therefore legislate the “inanimate object” out of existence. This is how the Progressives wage war against firearms – they learn of one person blowing his head off while drunkenly playing Russian roulette and Lo and Behold, they must pass legislation to keep those “dangerous guns” out of the hands of more honorable, common sense folk such as us. Listen, a politician with a pen is far more dangerous than your neighbor with an AK-47 is.

Ask yourself this, for a moment. How valid are your thoughts? I mean, are they your thoughts, or do they belong to someone else? Do you require a federal bureaucracy to tell you what to eat for dinner, what sports your children are permitted to play in, or what movie you will take your date to see? When you sit down on your sofa at night and reach for the remote, are you going to select what to watch or will the government? Do you decide when to mow your lawn or what color of a bathing suit you like to wear or do you prefer to wait until some bureaucrat from the government makes this decision for you?

Most importantly, are you an American individual or are you simply part of a larger group, say, of African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, Christians, Jews, or Muslims? Do you prefer to be known by a name, or will a mere number do? Are you a human person subject to all the inalienable rights that God has bestowed upon every living human person, or are satisfied being whatever the government lets you be and do whatever the government lets you do?

Government is not an option for us, for we will always need ‘someone’ in charge of our military, our national security, and our interstate highway system. But the bull stops there. Do not ever allow a mere politician or even justices decide that you are far too stupid or incompetent to possess these rights. Just because Billy Bubba down the road shoots himself in the foot, do not allow any politician to eliminate your right to arm and defend yourself as you see fit. Just because Bimbo Bobbi wants to save the trees by driving a roller skate, do not permit the government from denying you an opportunity to drive a larger and safer SUV. Most importantly, just because Mikhail Moneybags likes to bilk the public out of billions, do not ever permit any politician or activist to convince you that the American free market capital system is outdate or flawed. No parasite can ever become larger or greater than the host can.

We live within the greatest, most productive nation on the planet. Our greatness comes not from Washington, but from the hearts and minds of a free population of individuals who exercise both common sense and personal responsibility. The only limits on our expression come from those imposed upon us by our Creator. If we allow elected or appointed leaders to trash this notion of all men being created equal, then we suffer ourselves to the failures of the rest of the planet – nations such as Saudi Arabia where freedom of religion is not existent; or of the Netherlands where free speech is unheard of; or of Venezuela where individual commerce is now a thing of the past.

Americans do not follow the failed policies of the world; we reinvent the rules of human stewardship. We are uniquely individualistic because we are unique individuals. The last thing that we need is to have some moron try to institutionalize us. Only Progressives thrive within institutions. The rest of us are doing just fine being who we are…thank you very much.

We all live in interesting times...

Times are so interesting, actually disturbing,  we can't wait to change them and move on.  We're fighting a lot of devils.  One devil wears purple (SEIU).  The group serves many purposes, one is Obama's bidding.  Many of the devils we fight are in the Obama White House, in his administration, while others work against the America we know from other places.

The evening news lost more than a million viewers in the past year, while Fox News viewership skyrockets.  Is the msm learning from their mistakes?  Nope, full steam ahead with Obama talking points.

Our current leader wants a world without profits, Dr. Zero explains it well.  Not sure how he thinks the administration will get money to fund all their czars, committees, fancy parties, and Michelle's clown suits.  How will we keep funding all the welfare programs and government giveaways?

Why, we're told that even illegal aliens have a "right" to salaries, health care, education, higher education, houses;  everybody has a right to health care, even if slubs like you have to pay for it;  everybody has a right to high speed internet, high-def TV, and on and on.  Hey, doesn't everybody have a right to air conditioning, a fancy car, free electricity and gas, free cellphones???  Where does it end?  Who will be left to pay?

The CBO is calling for higher taxes, no surprise there.  We're hearing some good news on the financial front though:

Rising hemlines – along with upbeat songs on the radio – are signs of national optimism and can result in a happy outcome on both the economic and political scenes, according to a new research reported by the Daily Express.

Time flies when oil is gushing from an underwater well and Obama has learned that words won't plug the well (even if he wanted it plugged, which he doesn't).   In fact,  Democrats are using those words  "Incompetent" and "Criminal" to describe Obama's performance with regard to the Gulf Oil Leak.

Obama continues to support terrorists abroad and at home, including the Muslim Brotherhood and the mosque in Staten Island.

Liberal websites are fixing polls so the results will be favorable to the conclusion they desire.  I'm shocked!.

There is hope and Gov. Chris Christie is one shining star.  He signed a budget that closes the $11 Billion budget gap without any new taxes; the budget that puts New Jersey back on the road to fiscal sanity, saying "this is just the first step of what we have to do to make Trenton responsive to the people and to make government smaller and smarter and more efficient".  The federal government needs to follow suit.

We do have some comic relief in the form of Mr. Wood (Al Gore), the captain of climate, the pervert, sexual predator, inventor of the internet  world's worst scam, and bazillionaire.  We now get the real inconvenient truth. The sex crazed poodle.

The Obama administration must be singing "We all lead such elaborate lives, wild ambitions in our sights".  While the hard-working tax payers are singing, "Unintended emotional crimes,  I'm so tired of all were going through,  I don't want to live like that. I just want our time to be slower and gentler, wiser, free".

Interesting times indeed.  Can't wait until the NOvember 2010 and 2012 elections for some real CHANGE.

King Obama and King Abdullah

I remember a time when the Liberals loved to make fun of former President George W. Bush and his relationship with Saudi King Abdullah, just like they made fun of General David Petraeus when he served under Bush, but now that he is Obama's guy they just love him.   Now that  President Barack Obama is snuggling up to King Abdullah the Liberals are silent.

At the G-20 meetings in Toronto, here, there, everywhere ... Obama and Abdullah.  Discussing a two-state solution for Israel and the Palestinians;  discussing Iran;  discussing Afghanistan;  discussing Iraq;  nuclear weapons... 

I did discover in my reading that Abdullah has a sense of humor:

The monarch ended the pool spray with a few words of thanks: “Thank you, Mr. President, for a productive meeting. I want to also thank our friends, the American people, and I also would like to thank our friends here in the media. May God spare us from all of the bad things they can do to us.”

Amid press corps laughter, Abdullah added, “And may God -- and may God bless us with all the positive things they can do for us and for humanity.”

“Well, that is an excellent prayer,” Obama responded. “Thank you.”  (Politico)

The Jewish Voice sat down with Mr. Klein to discuss his new book.

FS: Concerning your latest book, "The Manchurian President: Barack Obama's Ties to Communists, Socialists and other Anti-American Extremists", what served as the inspiration for you and Brenda J Elliott to collaborate on such a monumental investigative task?

AK: I was inspired to undertake this task because so few reporters were conducting any real investigation into Barack Obama's background. I reported in February of 2008 that Obama was tied to Weather Underground criminal/terrorist Bill Ayers. When I did a Google search to see if any other reporters or media outlets had uncovered this information, I was stunned to find that they had not. After all, it is the responsibility of the media to engage in a vetting process of sorts when it pertains to presidential candidates. Based on my research, it was clear to me that Obama had a long relationship with Ayers and Ayers even gave Obama his first job at the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. They also served together, in the 1990s on the board of the Woods Fund; a non-profit organization that funneled money to leftist causes including the Midwest Academy that practiced Alinsky-like tactics of working within the capitalist system in order to overthrow it. What really served as the impetus for me to write this book was the lack of any real independent investigative journalism on the part of the mainstream media, as it pertained to Obama's past.

FS: As you previously mentioned to Sean Hannity on FOX News, President Obama was not forthright in his book concerning his first boss who he claimed was Marty Kaufman. Since no such person exists, and the person to whom he referred was Gerald "Jerry" Kellman, what connections does Kellman currently have with this administration?

AK: While Jerry Kellman may not have ties to the administration, it is clear that Obama apparently deliberately disguised the fact in his autobiography that he was given a job at the Alliance for Better Chicago Schools or ABC's by someone he claimed was Marty Kaufman, who in fact does not exist. Rather, he was referring to Jerry Kellman, who is an avowed Marxist and a stalwart acolyte of Saul Alinksy, the radical community organizer. Obama also disguises other names in his so-called autobiography, "Dreams From My Father", and neglects to mention that his childhood mentor was another Communist agitator named Frank Marshall Davis. Very little information was known about Obama other than what he had penned in his book. All of this information should be considered a major political scandal and the fact that he changed the names in his book should be challenged.

FS: Why do you think the mainstream media did not scrutinize Obama's background and ties to extremists and why do you think he was not carefully vetted by the Democratic party?

AK: I think the mainstream media promotes the same kinds of policies that Obama is espousing. He is the kind of candidate that they've been wishing for and hoping for. He is their dream come true. The Democratic Party did not carefully vet him because even those in his own presidential campaign such as David Plauth, who made a lot of Obama's videos, admitted that he didn't check out his background and was unaware of his affiliation for over 22 years with Rev Jeremiah Wright's church and black liberation theology. The party betrays it's past and it's roots by remaining indifferent to the polemical aspects of Obama's career. Obama has been pushing for the very same policies that the mainstream media itself that has been advocating for years and now they have this candidate named Obama so of course they're not going to investigate him in any serious way. To them these issues are not scandals. The media has been promoting Bill Ayers and other radical leftists and the causes that Obama has been representing for years, so this comes as no surprise.

FS: Your book sheds light on the sketchy details surrounding Obama's college days. What were his political leanings during his years at Occidental College and Columbia University and was he under the tutelage of Marxist mentors and professors?

AK: As to Obama's college days, no official or unofficial records were ever made available to the media. No college transcripts, published records, or even contemporary newspaper announcements about his education have been released. Obama remarkably relates in his autobiography "Dreams from My Father" that, beginning at Occidental, he surrounded himself with an assortment of radicals, socialists, Marxist-Leninists, Maoists and communists. Obama, however, provides neither names nor clues.

It was at Occidental that Obama first engaged in community activism, delivering what has been described as the first political speech of his career. On Feb. 18, 1981, Obama addressed students gathered outside Coons Hall administration building, exhorting Occidental's trustees to divest from South Africa. Obama writes in "Dreams" about the rally in which he took part, reportedly led by the Black Student Alliance and Students for Economic Democracy. Students for Economic Democracy, or SED, was a national student advocacy group established by soon-to-be California State Representative Tom Hayden, now a professor at Occidental, and his former wife, actress Jane Fonda.

FS: As to Israel, the Middle East and relations with the Muslim world, many people feel Obama has coddled our Islamic terrorist enemies such as Iran, and their proxies Hamas and Hezbollah. In a recent article (June 15) by Jerusalem Post reporter, Caroline Glick, she writes:

"It is not surprising that Obama is siding with Hamas. His close associates are leading members of the pro-Hamas Free Gaza outfit. Obama's friends, former Weatherman Underground terrorists Bernadine Dohrn and William Ayres participated in a Free Gaza trip to Egypt in January. Their aim was to force the Egyptians to allow them into Gaza with 1,300 fellow Hamas supporters. Their mission was led by Code Pink leader and Obama fundraiser Jodie Evans. Another leading member of Free Gaza is former US senator from South Dakota James Abourezk."

What are your comments on this?

AK: As I reported back in January of this year, Bernadine Dohrn and Bill Ayers along with Code Pink's Jodie Evans were in the forefront of fomenting chaos on the streets of Egypt in an attempt to enter Gaza with the Free Gaza Movement to join in solidarity with the territory's population and leadership. The three helped to stir riots after the Egyptian government refused to allow a large number of protesters to enter neighboring Gaza. Eventually, the protesters accepted an Egyptian offer of allowing about 100 marchers into Gaza. Once in the territory, those marchers were reportedly met on the Gaza side by Hamas' former Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh. Clearly, President Obama's associates have helped shape his adversarial stance towards Israel, but he has a history of political leanings towards Hamas. In the 1990s, Obama spoke at pro-Palestinian events alongside Ali Abunimah, who was with Evans' group in Egypt, and who runs the web site called "Electronic Intifada" which spreads anti-Israel propaganda. In one such event, a 1999 fundraiser for Palestinian "refugees," Abunimah recalled introducing Obama on stage.

Obama, like most leftists, believe that all conflicts can be resolved through dialogue and negotiations, which is why I believe he is coddling Iran in part. He is advancing and agitating for policies that help Hamas and we might see in the future even the White House eventually opening channels with Hamas because they believe that Hamas can be talked out of their extremism that is patently ridiculous. I know many Hamas leaders and have interviewed them and they are looking to spread their brand of Islam around the world and it's not like we can talk them out of it or talk them into peace negotiations. Obama has an "Israel problem". He has a real issue with the Jewish state. This is evidenced by his radical affiliations with such people as Rashid Khalidi, the pro-PLO Columbia University professor and others like him.

FS: Can you shed some light on whom, in the Obama administration, were significant figures in pushing a socialist domestic agenda including the national health care reform bill?

AK: As I reveal in my book, a convicted felon named Robert Creamer who is the husband of Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., who was one of Capitol Hill's most visible cheerleaders for Obama's health-care bill is the one who helped provide a blueprint for the president's health-care legislation. Creamer said his declared strategies on health-care reform are not about "policies" but "are about the distribution of wealth and power." Creamer also recommended the president "create" a national consensus that the country's health-care system is in a state of crisis in order to push a radical new health-care plan. Creamer was sentenced to federal prison in 2006 after pleading guilty to bank fraud and withholding taxes while heading Citizen Action of Illinois. While in prison, he wrote a book titled "How Progressives Can Win." Obama's chief adviser, David Axelrod, touted Creamer's book as providing "a blueprint for future victories," including on health care. His book was endorsed by other leading Democrats and by Andy Stern, a close ally of the president who as head of the Service Employees International Union had visited the White House more than any other individual.

FS: You write quite extensively on the role of the SEIU, AFSCME, the AFL-CIO, and of course ACORN in their support for President Obama. Can you tell us if the leadership and rank and file of these unions call for a Socialist and/or Communist agenda and what role, if any, they play in helping to craft legislation?

AK: For example, one of Obama's close advisors is Eliseo Medina, the international executive vice-president of Service Employees International Union, or SEIU. Medina is in the forefront of spearheading legislation that would grant citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants, with the stated objective being the expansion of the "progressive" electorate that would help to ensure a "progressive" governing coalition for the long term. The SEIU is closely linked to the controversial Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN and they are top supporters of Illinois Rep. Luis Gutierrez's Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Bill, which seeks to document up to 12 million illegal immigrants inside the U.S.

During the most recent presidential campaign, Medina and Gutierrez served on Obama's National Latino Advisory Council. Also on the council was Rep. Nydia Velazquez, D-N.Y., the co-sponsor of Gutierrez's immigration reform bill. Medina was a chief lobbyist credited with a change in the longstanding policy of the AFL-CIO, the largest union federation in the U.S. The union reversed its stance against illegal immigration in February 2000, instead calling for new amnesty for millions of illegals. The New Zeal blog documents how Medina was honored in 2004 by Chicago's Democratic Socialists of America for his "vital role in the AFL-CIO's reassessment of its immigration policy." That same year, Medina became a DSA honorary chairman. The DSA also supported Gutierrez's 1998 bid for Congress. In the mid-1990s, Gutierrez served on the board of Illinois Public Action alongside a number of DSA members, including Obama health-care advisor Quentin Young.

FS: Can you elaborate on David Axelrod's Communist background that you extensively explore in your book?

AK: David Axelrod was mentored by Don Rose, a founder of the pro-Communist publication called "Hyde Park Voices" and who, in the 1960s, was a member of a purported Communist Party front called the Alliance to End Repression. Axelrod began his professional career as a journalist with this paper. Rose also worked with the late David S. Canter, who was the co-founder of the Voices newspaper and was named as a communist in the late 1960s by the House Committee on Un-American Activities. In my book, I document the fact that Rose had written to Marc Canter, the son of the late David Canter and said, "Your dad and I 'mentored' and helped educate Axelrod politically, which is perhaps why you may recall seeing him hanging around the house." In 1987, Axelrod was hired to help in the re-election campaign of Harold Washington, Chicago's first black mayor, where he once again worked with Rose and Canter. It should be noted that Washington's campaign was supported by a coalition of communist and socialist groups.

FS: Will you be speaking about this book on college campuses throughout North America?

AK: I will not be focusing on a speaking tour right now but will be putting my efforts into a media tour to help promote the book.

Watchdog Groups Unveil $260 Million in Government Waste

2010 Tennessee Pork Report provides nearly 100 examples of wasted tax dollars

NASHVILLE  - The Tennessee Center for Policy Research today released the 2010 Tennessee Pork Report, exposing $260 million in waste, fraud, and abuse at all levels of Tennessee government. Tennessee’s free market think tank partnered with Citizens Against Government Waste, the nation’s leading taxpayer watchdog, to publish the report. This marks the fifth annual Pork Report published by the two groups. (pdf)

The wasteful spending revealed in the 2010 Pork Report adds up to a substantial loss for Tennessee taxpayers. Instances of waste include:

• $15 million for a swimming pool in Kingsport.
• $3.95 million in excess fees collected by state professional regulatory boards.
• $1.6 million to fund state-owned golf courses.
• $1.5 million to help smokers kick the habit.
• $450,481 for two statues in downtown Nashville.

“Taxpayers are sending a clear message that they want accountable, transparent, and less intrusive government,” said Justin Owen, acting executive director of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. “The political nepotism, outright theft, craven fiscal abuse, and general stupidity described in the Pork Report will only add fuel to taxpayers’ ire.”

The report does not merely expose wasteful spending by state and local governments, but also offers solutions to eliminate waste while promoting a more responsible and transparent government. It serves to act as an informative and valuable resource for legislators and taxpayers alike.

Russian Spies, No Surprise

Ten people accused of being spies for Russia have been arrested in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Virginia and an 11th spy was arrested in Cyprus.  It's a great story, some of the spies are young, female, attractive, high society, described as long-term, deep cover spies, some living as couples; they used invisible ink, coded radio transmissions and encrypted data; they employed Hollywood methods like swapping bags in passing at a train station;  and these are only the "the tip of the iceberg".  But why is anyone surprised that there are still people in the United States spying for another country, especially Russia?

It is important to note that non of these 11 were charged with spying or espionage but with not registering as agents, or representatives, of a foreign government and with money laundering.

  ... 10 arrested was charged with conspiracy to act as an agent of a foreign government, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison on conviction.

What were these spies looking for specifically?  Intelligence on Obama's foreign policy positions, specifically they were to "Try to outline their views and most important Obama's goals (sic) which he expects to achieve during summit in July and how does his team plan to do it (arguments, provisions, means of persuasion to 'lure' (Russia) into cooperation in US interests".  

According to documents, they were to gain information on the U.S. negotiating position on the START arms reduction treaty as well as Afghanistan and the approach Washington would take in dealing with Iran's suspect nuclear program. 

According to the BBC, these spies were inept and apparently unsuccessful:

Indeed, if this is the best the Russians can come up with, it does not say much about their level of penetration of the US government. These supposed agents did not even dare to work for the US government itself, afraid that their cover stories would not stand up.

Some of them had been living incognito in the US since the 1990s and seem to have hardly done anything. In fact, several were settling in rather too comfortably.

Yes one couple was interested in buying a home, because that was the American thing to do.  Another spy's  business was doing really well (maybe America's not so bad after all???).

The FBI was bugging and burgling them for years. In a clandestine raid on the home of "Richard and Cynthia Murphy", the FBI found the 27-letter password to a computer disc. This gave access to a programme in which a message could be stored in an image on a website and decoded at the other end. 

It is sophisticated but it fell foul of the old failing, human weakness. Who can actually remember a 27-letter password? So they wrote it down.  (BBC)

Spying is just another form of HUMIT, human intelligence, which is essential to American security.  I'd be willing to bet there are spies from most other countries here, we just haven't discovered them yet or perhaps we are quietly tracking them.  Hopefully the U.S. has our own spies strategically placed everywhere around the world.  Training and supporting spies takes time and money, so who knows how much budget cuts have damaged our spying capabilities.  

These arrests took place as President Barack Obama and Russia's Dmitry Medvedev, Vladimir Putin's puppet, were having unhealthy burgers together and resetting their relationship (hee hee), hopefully but not apparently, leaving a bad taste in Obama's mouth???

On the fake passports, the BBC notes:

There is one diplomatic footnote which might be followed up by the British and Irish governments. They were angered recently by the use by Israelis of fake British and Irish passports in the killing of a Hamas official in Dubai.

These new documents indicate the Russians use the same ploy.

The new wireless spy... trained by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR),  headquarters are known as Moscow Centre, methods are said to have ranged from the hi-tech, such as using private wifi networks to swap data between laptops...

The court papers described a new high-tech spy-to-spy communications system used by the defendants: short-range wireless communications between laptop computers — a modern supplement for the old-style dead drop in a remote area, high-speed burst radio transmission or even the hollowed-out nickels used by Col. Abel to conceal and deliver microfilm.  (NewsMax)

Police in Cyprus said Tuesday that an 11th defendant, a Canadian citizen wanted by U.S. authorities on suspicion of espionage and money laundering, was arrested in the morning at Larnaca airport while trying to fly to Budapest, Hungary. [snip]  (more)

 

What makes this so interesting is the spies themselves, their looks, their jobs, their friends, their socializing, etc.  We're told that there may be 40 - 50 other spy couples here in the United States.  Hopefully someone in intelligence knows about them and is tracking them.

I'm sure the media could use more headlines like "Red Hot" spy or "Spy Ring's femme fetale"....leading to internet searches for Anna Chapman, Mikhail Semenko, Donald Howard Heathfield and Tracey Lee Ann Foley ...

Kagan lied to Supreme Court in 9/11 case, should be disbarred

As Obama's solicitor general, Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan urged the Court to dismiss the suit that our 9/11 families have been pressing against the Saudi government and several Saudi princes for their extensive funding of al Qaeda. The families sued under the domestic tort exception to sovereign immunity, which according to Kagan's Supreme Court brief (at p. 14):

requires not merely that the foreign state’s extraterritorial conduct have some causal connection to tortious injury in the United States, but that “the tortious act or omission of that foreign state or of any official or employee” be committed within the United States. 28 U.S.C. 1605(a)(5).

The "tortious act or omission" is the wrongful act (the tort) that leads to the injury. Thus she is claiming that for Saudi funding of al Qaeda to be actionable, the funding itself has to have been transacted within the United States. Compare this with the actual wording of 28 U.S.C. 1605(a)(5):

(a) A foreign state shall not be immune from the jurisdiction of courts of the United States or of the States in any case – ... (5) ... in which money damages are sought against a foreign state for personal injury or death, or damage to or loss of property, occurring in the United States and caused by the tortious act or omission of that foreign state or of any official or employee of that foreign state while acting within the scope of his office or employment..."

Contrary to Kagan's assertion, the law only specifies that the injury has to have occurred within the United States. Not a word about the wrongful act that leads to domestic injury also having to have taken place within the United. Kagan flat lied about the clear wording of a law that goes to the very heart of our ability to use the courts to combat Islamic terrorism, and thanks to the Court's failure to review this crucial case, the simple wording and intent of Congress—that foreign states whose actions do injury in the United States can be sued for those injuries—has now been undone, as if the law had never been passed.


"Oops!... I did it again"

Kagan proves that her lie was self conscious by also lying about the relevant Supreme Court precedent, claiming (again at p. 14):

In Amerada Hess the Court considered and rejected the argument that domestic effects of a foreign state’s conduct abroad satisfy the exception. 488 U.S. at 441.

In fact, the Court in Amerada never considered "the domestic effects of a foreign state's conduct abroad" at all, for the simple reason that there were no domestic injuries in that case. The injuries occurred outside of U.S. territory, which is why the domestic tort exception was held not to apply. Here are the simple facts, as recounted in Justice Rehnquist's majority opinion (joined by Brennan, White, Stevens, O'Connor, Scalia and Kennedy):

... the injury to respondents' ship occurred on the high seas some 5,000 miles off the nearest shores of the United States. Despite these telling facts, respondents nonetheless claim that the tortious attack on the Hercules occurred "in the United States." [At p. 440.]

The Amerada Company ship was attacked at sea. Since the tortious act and the damages from it both occurred "5,000 miles off the nearest shores," the Court did not bother to distinguish between the wrongful act and the injuries from it. Kagan uses this to claim that the Court found Amerada's domestic injuries to be unrecoverable, when in fact the Supremes agreed with the district court that there were no domestic injuries (p. 439-441).

Has any solicitor general ever flat lied to the Supreme Court before? Isn't any lawyer who unambiguously lies to the Court about the simple facts of a cited holding subject to disbarment for unethical behavior? And she did it for an unethical purpose: to help the financiers of 9/11 escape justice. Any moral person would either resign in the face of such a job assignment, or would limit himself to making what honest arguments could be mustered. This moral pervert chose to lie and ought to be busted out of the profession for it, not promoted to the highest court in the land.


Obama favors a legal response to terror while working to pull the law's teeth

Obama has long been a proponent of shifting from a military response to Islamic terrorism to a civilian/criminal law response. Putting the terrorists in jail is supposedly more effective shooting them on the battlefield. This is why Attorney General Eric Holder decided to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammad in New York City. There is supposedly nothing Mohammad wants less than a public platform for crowing that America must submit or die, while credibly demanding that we must either reveal our intelligence secrets or let him go free.

It is an insane idea, seeking to move the fight against Islamic terror to an arena that disarms us and empowers them, but even that isn't enough for Obama. He has to have his solicitor general lie to the Supreme Court for him in a way that guts what laws Congress has already passed for fighting terror in the courts. First he moves the fight to our relatively toothless courts, then he pulls what teeth the courts have.

If Obama's gutting of the legal fight against terror is intentional it means that he prefers America to have NO effective defense against Islamic terrorists (perhaps because they are his co-religionists). Kagan's nomination to the Supreme Court is a clear indication of this intent. Obama is ratifying, in the strongest possible way, her gutting of the law, and like Kagan, he also proves intent by repetition, nominating Kagan's partner in crime, James Cole, to be his Deputy Attorney General.


Oops!... Obama does it again: DAG nominee also favors a legal response to terror while working to pull the law's teeth

Shortly after 9/11, Cole wrote that, since the targets were primarily civilian, the 9/11 attacks should not be viewed as acts of war, but as violations of civilian law, to be combated through our civilian court system. If Cole really wanted to make the civilian courts our main line of defense against Islamic terrorism he would be for aggressive use of the courts in this fight, but in practice, he comes down on the other side, arguing as the lawyer for one of the implicated Saudi princes that the family suit to recover damages from the 9/11 attacks is invalid.

Cole's service to the Saudis creates "a direct conflict of interest" writes Debra Burlingame:

In light of this history, it is impossible to fathom how Mr. Cole can ethically carry out his duties and responsibilities as the de facto head of the Justice Department while U.S. troops are fighting terrorists who receive funding and support from organizations associated with the Saudi government and their proxies. This is a direct conflict of interest. Given Saudi NGOs’ continued involvement in terrorist facilitation world-wide and their connection to the Saudi royal family, this conflict of interest will cripple Mr. Cole’s ability to ethically perform his duties as head of a department charged with investigating and prosecuting terrorist facilitators associated with or working for the Saudi government.

Yes well, to Obama, that's a feature, not a bug. Like Obama, Cole is against a military response to Islamic terror and he is against a civilian court response. In sum, neither of them want the United States to fight on any front, but want us instead to appease and submit to Islamic terror.

Which is nothing new. Obama's entire Department of Justice is of the same stripe:

Attorney General Eric Holder says nine Obama appointees in the Justice Department have represented or advocated for terrorist detainees before joining the Justice Department. But he does not reveal any names beyond the two officials whose work has already been publicly reported. And all the lawyers, according to Holder, are eligible to work on general detainee matters, even if there are specific parts of some cases they cannot be involved in. [Byron York February 2010.]

Which is worse, the DOJ lawyers who defended terrorists pro bono on the basis of shared contempt for America, or the DAG nominee who defends the financiers of terror for a share of their filthy lucre? "Why decide?" says Obama: "Hire 'em all!" So long as they are defenders of al Qaeda, its all good.


Why isn't Congress fighting back?

While Obama's terror-defending lawyers are determined to secure rights and civilian court appearances for Islamic terrorists who should be treated as criminal combatants under military justice, they are equally determined to prevent our 9/11 families from getting their day in court, despite the clear intent of Congress that they should. It is time for Congress to start fighting back. The Supreme Court shamefully failed to review a blatant subversion of congressional intent on a crucial front of the war against terror, but Congress doesn't have to take it lying down.

How about passing a clarification to the domestic tort exception that explicitly renounces Kagan's attempt to gut the clear intent of the law? Just use the Senate hearings on Kagan's nomination (commencing this week) to expose her devastating lies to the Supreme Court and to agitate for a clarification of the law that would allow the families' suit to proceed. Kagan would be routed, and the destruction she has wreaked on our terror war efforts would be repaired, killing two dirty birds with one stone.

Pushing Presidential Candidates On Us

This past weekend on Fox News Channel, Chris Wallace referred to Mike Huckabee as the Republican front-runner for president in 2012.  I said in the 2008 election that Mike Huckabee should not be president and I have not changed my mind.  Today Hot Air points to data from this poll, which shows Palin 24, Gingrich 23, Huckabee 20 in Pennsylvania and results in Texas Gingrich 25, Huckabee 22, Palin 17.  As one commenter at Hot Air said:

None of these people should run…

The 2012 mantra for presidential candidates should be “fresh faces”… if you’re on cable tv all the time and you were a major figure in 2008 then just go away for a while…

Nuclear Certainty.

The greatest liability in the war against terrorism today, is the world‟s unquestionable ability to assume that the terrorists possess some limits as to their brutality. Unfortunately, terrorism is a tool; it is not something expressed by a particularly belief or ideology by itself. One generally does not employ a butcher to produce sponge cakes or a welder to hem a skirt. Those who use terrorism – the indiscriminate use of violence against innocent human lives and property as a means to affect their religious or political ambitions – have crossed the threshold of anticipated behavior.

Terrorism, therefore, represents the very soul of the indiscriminate politico-religious criminal. Terrorists are not freedom fighters, guerrillas, or soldiers for their acts expand beyond that necessary to defeat a belligerent people and involve everyone to a certain degree. Because such terrorism is a naturally evolving technique, the terrorists who use this tool as the primary means to affect their cause will continually adapt and reform it until their "cause‟ can be achieved. That is, like a cancer amongst humanity, they will escalate their violence and mayhem against the world until they determine their needs are sufficiently met to alter their policies. Herein lays the problem.

To illustrate both how terrorists continue to evolve their trade as well as their commitment to succeed, one only needs to draw a brief example from the world of Islamic terrorism. In reverence for James Burke‟s science series, Connections, I will briefly follow the path of Islamic fundamentalism and its pattern of aggression will become apparent. In 1993, Ramzi Ahmad Yousef burst into American culture with his February 23 attack against the World Trade Center.² Following the WTC attack, Yousef appeared in Bangkok during March 1994 when he tried to attack either the Israeli or U.S. embassy with another large truck bomb.³ Later that year, he flew to the Philippines,  reportedly on behalf of one Osama bin Laden, to provide training and assistance to the Abu Sayyaf group that wanted to create an independent Muslim Republic in Mindanao.⁴

While with Abu Sayyaf, Yousef was given orders by bin Laden to plan for the assassination of President Bill Clinton during a planned trip in November before turning his attention towards a visit by Pope John Paul II because of tight security restrictions interfering with the former target.⁵ Also, while staying in the Philippines, Yousef met with American Terry L. Nichols – an acquaintance and, later, co-conspirator of Timothy McVeigh – where it is likely that he provided Nichols with information sufficient to destroy a building with a “5,600-pound bomb manufactured from ammonium nitrate and nitromethane.”⁶ At any rate, Ramzi Yousef was subsequently captured and only a few weeks before his trial, the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City went up in smoke leaving many to wonder about these connections between Yousef and McVeigh.⁷
