Grouch at Right Truth

If I were the president, of this land, not only would I declare total war on the pusher man, I would also pardon every one of these people immediately.

What a travesty.

R.J. Godlewski

People often equate Political Correctness with a cancer that is eating away at America. I disagree. Political Correctness is more like AIDS, something that happened because too many people were screwing everybody else.

In the early 1990s, the PC crowd began siphoning away our nation's right and opportunity to defend itself. In Robert Baer's book, SEE NO EVIL, he tells about how his career at the CIA was ultimately ended because of an erroneous rumor that he was somehow involved within an assassination plot against Saddam Hussein. The FBI -- of all people -- was turned loose on the CIA. One can only imagine who is in charge of national security if the government is attempting to penalize itself.

America's war against Islamic radicals did not begin in 2001 or even in 1979 when Iranian "students" took over our embassy. It began even before the United States became a country when Barbary pirates enslaved more than a million "white men, women, and children [who] ended up in the markets of Morocco, Algiers, Tunis, and Tripoli" during the seventeenth to eighteenth centuries.

One of the first tasks of the American navy -- of which I am a proud veteran of -- was to defeat these Islamic pirates and the United States was arguably the first nation that chose to fight instead of pay tribute.

How many people today forgot that it was the death of a single Navy diver that gave Ronald Reagan (and Ollie North) reason to interdict a commercial airliner to apprehend the Libyan terrorist who killed him?

In 2010, we can no longer kill terrorists outright, our agencies are watched over by competing agencies, and Libyan terrorists are, again like the episode involving Mr. Baer, let out of Scottish prison on mere suspicion of their having a deadly disease.

As I write about in an upcoming piece entitled "G'head, Tread", we need to acknowledge that we are indeed in a war against radical MUSLIMS.

Just because I get bit by a dog does not mean that all dogs are bad nor does it mean that I, as a dog lover, will learn to hate dogs. On the contrary, I get bit by dogs whose owners are the ones who conditioned that dog to attack other people.

Our war is not necessarily against the "Christmas Day bombers" or even the "Ft. Hood shooters" alone. Our war is against the 'system' that makes such thugs possible -- just like the neighbor who fails to train or contain his pooch.

As for us American citizens, we need to vote the bastards out of office who even think about looking the other way when it comes to terrorist attacks against Americans or American interests.

Note to Paul: Sorry that this isn't a 'deep' reflection upon your article. Sometimes when you go with your gut feelings, you have to deal with the acidity that churns therein. ;o)

Sweet Grouch, if you were president of the United States, things would certainly be a lot different. But only in our dreams...

R.J.: You said it! You are absolutely correct with the dog-bite-owner example. Too bad more don't see it that way.
