Three Stories, Nine Children

Story One:  Five children abused from birth:  The Police in York, Pennsylvania, found five children hidden in the home by their parents - no immunizations, no birth certificates, no education, living outside of society, hidden from the world in a squalid row house with no heat, electricity or running water.  The key sentence to the article: 'York County Children and Youth Services became aware of the family through anonymous tips in 2003 and again in 2007, but police said [Sinhue] Johnson [the children's father] refused to cooperate with caseworkers.'  (hat tip Marcus Wilder)

Police in this south-central Pennsylvania city are still piecing together how the (parents of five children — ranging in age from 2 to 13 — managed to conceal them for so many years. And why.

"I don't know what would possess them at all," said detective Dana Ward Jr., who tracked down the children after a child welfare agency received an anonymous tip about the clandestine family.

Ward charged Louann Bowers, 33, and Sinhue Johnson, 45, with five felony counts of child endangerment. They are scheduled to be in court Friday, though Bowers' lawyer said she will waive her right to an arraignment. Both are locked up in York County Prison.  (Star Tribune)

(Lovely couple, aren't they?)  The next sentence in the story begins the excuses for the parents.  Just as we have people who excuse terrorists calling them poor misled boys, the abusive mother is given sympathy....

Bowers ran away from "a very chaotic household" when she was 16 and "didn't want to be found," attorney Ronald Gross said.

"I think, unfortunately, Mom's desire to not be found by her family impacted the children's growth," he said. "She realizes now, `I should have done it differently.'"  (continue)

 

Story Two: Grandmother kills granddaughter:   In Fairfax, Virginia, a grandmother tosses her 2-1/2 year-old granddaughter, Angelyn Ogdoc, several stories down to her death. (hat tip R.J. Godlewski)

Carmela Dela Rosa, 50, of Fairfax was arrested and charged Tuesday with murder, said prosecutor Ian Rodway, the chief deputy Commonwealth's attorney.

The child, Angelyn Ogdoc, died in a hospital after plunging to the pavement Monday night. She fell from a walkway linking the mall's third floor to the parking garage's sixth floor at Tysons Corner Center in Fairfax, a Washington suburb in Virginia.

Investigators believe Dela Rosa threw the child over a railing but do not yet know why, Fairfax County police spokeswoman Tawny Wright said.  (AP)

 

Story Three: Three young boys probably dead:   John Skelton, 39, father of three young brothers,  5-year-old Tanner, 7-year-old Alexander, and 9-year-old Andrew, who have been missing since Thanksgiving was charged with their kidnapping on Tuesday, hours after police said it's unlikely the boys will be found alive.    

Meet the parents Tanya and John Skelton:  Tanya Skelton was awarded custody after filing for divorce on Sept. 13, 2010.  The boys had been with their father as part of court-ordered visitation.  According to Fox News the mother had recently been incarcerated for some type of sexual contact with a minor boy.

 ... the boys’ mother, Tanya Skelton is a registered sex offender.

WLNS reports that state records indicate that Tanya, 44, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in 1998 for having sex with a 14-year-old boy. The boy worked for Tanya at rental properties, according to the report.  (The Examiner)

John Skelton is now in a medical facility in Lucas County, Ohio receiving treatment for "mental health issues" after telling police he tried to hang himself.   He first told police that he gave his children to a woman, Joann Taylor, that he said he had met online.  He later told police he put the boys out on the side of the road somewhere.

So three sweet little boys have a crazy suicidal loon for a father and a registered sex offender who likes sex with little boys for a mother are at best missing somewhere and at worst are most likely dead.
