Greetings and felicitations, hoping for this note to find you well and in good spirits.
I hasten to express my sympathies over the loss this date of American life in Iraq. They will be remembered. And in our memory they shall live.
Further, I hasten to express a deep sorrow over the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies refusing to pay his respects to the Iraq Fallen at Arlington National Cemetery. In dishonoring the memory of America’s Iraq Fallen he has also dishonored the memory of one of our own, CAPT Ali, who rests in Sec 60 alongside his American Brothers.
In this hour of grief, GEN Abadi’s words come to mind, spoken at Arlington on the occasion of NOILD 2010: “The images of our last reunion, in the midst of our martyrs, Iraqi and American, on America’s hallowed ground, Arlington National Cemetery, will stay with me forever. They are America’s best, they are your sons and daughters, and while we have returned their remains to American soil, their souls shall live in the hearts of Iraqis, in Eternity. For now, by what they have done for Iraqi Freedom, they have become our sons and brothers as well.”
Very respectfully,
Albrecht G. Muth
Staff Brigadier General, Iraqi Army
Director, International Liaison Office
Ministry of Defense, BAGHDAD, Iraq
