The U.S. Commerce Department is considering a petition to include Arab Americans on the list of socially and economically disadvantaged minority groups eligible for special business assistance.
Those already included in the disadvanrtaged minority group: African-Americans, Puerto Ricans, Spanish-speaking Americans, American Indians, Eskimos, Aleuts, Hasidic Jews, Asian-Pacific Americans and Asian Indians.
The petition was submitted earlier this year by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) to make Arab Americans eligible for the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). The MBDA helps minority entrepreneurs establish and grow their businesses.
According to the ADC petition there has been an increase since 9/11 in "discrimination and prejudice in American society resulting in conditions under which Arab-American individuals have been unable to compete in a business world."
To support its claims, the ADC's petition emphasized the National Security Entry Exit Registration System, "which required non-immigrants to register at ports of entry and targeted males from Arab nations; stricter travel guidelines; and 'no-fly lists' that predominantly contained the names of Arab-Americans."
What the ADC petition ignored, however, were facts showing Arab Americans were more successful and better educated than the average American. (continue reading at IPT)
I am not being a racist or trying to stereotype, but the Arabs I have seen here in my own town, seem to be doing fairly well, I have yet to see any of of them driving a Ford or Chevy, most are in Escalades, BMW's, very expensive vehicles. And let's not forget the expensive clothes and jewelry they tend to wear.
And they are NOT friendly at all. I got yelled at the gas station one time, because I was taking too long, when there were other gas pumps available. The gas attendant came to my rescue. And yep, the scum bag was in a bloody Escalade.
I was told the man owned a huge, successful business and was a multimillionaire.
This is outrageous.

Leticia. Yeah, they own a lot of gas stations, etc. But don't for one minute thing this is how they support themselves. Gas stations, beauty parlors, etc. are excellent facades for the distribution and sale of illegal drugs, cigarettes (skipping the middle-man -the tax collector, etc., etc.). Islam permits, nay, encourages deceit and dishonesty if it will promote Moslems or the Islaic agenda in any way, shape, or form. I encourage everyone to find out boycott such outfits.
Discrimination - you bet. But if they want to mess with our Constitution and our freedoms I have just one word for them - WAR!
