To those who have, or intend to watch the State Department’s apology ad now playing on Pakistan television:
Being somewhat reluctant to waste my time listening to lies I rarely view any video featuring either Barack H. Obama or his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. But duty calls, and was I surprised to see the flag in the background as Mrs. Clinton spoke in the people of Pakistan in her feeble attempt to make them like us, and to keep her party in control.
I was stunned to see the strange red flag in the background. It occupies more of the background space than the American flag, and to the far right is what appears to be an identical flag. What astonished me was the symbol. Could that be the Star of David, which is the main feature of the Israel flag? It made no sense for not only was it incompatible with the message, but the colors were wrong. The flag of Israel is blue and white. This flag was green on red. As an amateur vexillologist (student of flags) I had to know.
So here is the flag, which is seems is the civil ensign of Morocco.
Of course what I really want to know is why this flag appears in the photograph at all.

Could it be that somebody at State decided that showing the Pakistani flag (with it's crescent-and-star) might not go over so well?

Nate: I'm surprised they didn't rush out and get a few crescent and star flags, maybe a head scarf or burqua for Hillary, ha. Put a koran on the desk for the finishing touch.

What the hell is a foreign flag, even of the host country doing in an American embassy? I'm not up on the protocol of embassies, or flags for that matter, but it she really wanted to look patriotic then only the stars and strips should have been in the photo.
Good point Debbie, about covering Hillary up. Although the only thing which will protect the country from her will be a shroud.

Snake Hunter Sez,
I'm just wondering... how Huma Abedin gets away with her ostentateous display of elegant designer, hi-fashion clothes by Oscar de la Renta?
Shouldn't she be wearing a full length black burka w/ peeky holes?
And, how in Allah's name does she get away wed to a
sleazy jew, like Weiner?
If a regular muslim female were to dare to lock lips
with a jew-boy, a Sharia Court might demand a cutting off of her head...
or a proper stoning with large bricks & stone, to crush her pretty skull into an ugly, bloody mess!
Perhaps they have altered
rules
for their well-placed espionage agents.

Um, Clinton was delivering her comments at the US Morocco Strategic Dialogue.
"Now, I know it is hard for some people to understand why the United States cannot or does not just prevent these kinds of reprehensible videos from ever seeing the light of day. Now, I would note that in today’s world with today’s technologies, that is impossible. But even if it were possible, our country does have a long tradition of free expression which is enshrined in our Constitution and our law, and we do not stop individual citizens from expressing their views no matter how distasteful they may be."

Ha, Ha, Ha. So 'we do not stop individual citizens from expressing their views' but we will send the government to your house at 1:30 a.m. if you make a video that some raghead doesn't like.

well, from the CIA factbook:
red with a green pentacle (five-pointed, linear star) known as Sulayman's (Solomon's) seal in the center of the flag; red and green are traditional colors in Arab flags, although the use of red is more commonly associated with the Arab states of the Persian gulf; the pentacle represents the five pillars of Islam and signifies the association between God and the nation; design dates to 1912
ah yes, the five pillars of Islam...yeah, that would fit real nice

Susan: Ha, Ha, Ha.
Debbie: Of course what I really want to know is why this flag appears in the photograph at all.
It's because Clinton was speaking at an event which included representatives of Morocco and the U.S., so both flags were present.

Zachriel:
Clinton was speaking to the entire Muslim World. Why would her minions not set the stage to represent that? Why simply use this setting? They put so much time and effort in their deception and apologies, they messed up this time.
There should have been only the US Flag in the setting.
It is very poor staging for something they spent $70,000.00 on. Just my opinion.

I don't see the problem.
When ever 2 different countries have a presser, they always have 3-4 pairs of the flags present, which are placed alternating one countries flag for the other. This creates the backdrop for pictures and video.
Completely normal diplomatic operations.
Nothing to see here, move along, move along!

John,
Debbie is right. In fact I suspect that to cut time or cost or for maybe political reasons (look we have good relations with Morocco) they just figured 'screw the American' we will do a two for one (her talk in Morocco filmed and also used on Paki TV). Alternatively they don't give a sh*t. I agree with Debbie, and it would not be hard to just have Clinto repeat her message with only the US flag in the background. Still looking forward to seeing that shroud.

Clinton issued the statement where she was, not where she wasn't. It wasn't part of a television production, but a statement to the international press. The U.S. flag is directly behind her. As for the video, they used a variety of different clips.
