Grouch at Right Truth

These days we have a plethora of comics who are LOUD and VULGAR but simply not funny. If you have to be loud and vulgar to be funny, you've failed. If you skillfully mix a little loud vulgarity into your already funny routine, well fine, I'm OK with that. There is a difference.

By the way. I don't watch TV SITCOMS anymore. I hate it when the only thing laughing is the laugh track.

Comics today are pretty vulgar and they always seem to have an opinion about politics.

So, far the only two clean comedians that I am aware of are Sinbad and Bill Cosby.

Mystical Time Traveler

Today's "comics" equate vulgarity with humor. Their "humor" is stiff and won't last through the test of time.

Watch the classic comedians. Red Skelton, George Burns and Gracie Allen, etc... you will fall off your seat and pee in your pants with them.

@Grouch,

Do you remember when Redd Foxx got booed off the stage at the Pearl Harbor Enlisted Club?

Anyway, I have always said that comedy is no longer intelligent -- it's all a pattern of making men look stupid, sex in every other scene, or four-letter words for effect.

Comedy is not Jim Carrey in 3-D, but Jim Backus in IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD... :o)

PALADIN

No comedians are'nt funny now a days, they are mostly obnoxious and if they did'nt include sex and all kinds of vulgarity they would'nt be in demand at all.

Shows what our society has become.

@ R.J.: Redd Foxx could be funny without being vulgar. The testament to this Sanford and Son.

On the other hand he could certainly curl the paint off an old Studebaker with his language. Some of my friends and I enjoyed a DVD of Redd Foxx back in September. We were all laughing but boy it was rough.
