via Ricochet:
Alicia Keys will sing our national anthem at the Superbowl on Sunday, and she has
said it is actually a brand new song in the style that she'll deliver it.
We don't know what that means, if lyrics will be left out, changed, or
if it's just a publicity leak, as if the game needs any more publicity. (continue reading at Ricochet and read comments)

That ought to be interesting.

Or outrageous Tim. Why can't people leave our National Anthem alone?

To Ms Keys (and anyone else who wishes to 'rework' the National Anthem): if you wish to play attention-whore, there are other venues than the Superbowl, and other methods than showing how little you care about the Anthem of the nation which has given you the freedom to do what you do.
Sing it the way Francis Scott Key wrote it and John Stafford Smith melodized it, or don't sing it at all.

Maybe she means that it will be sung live?

That would be too much to ask for.....
