In this short video from the NRA, an internal Justice Department (the same Justice Department ran by Eric ‘Fast and Furious’ Holder), it is revealed that the Obama administrations own research shows that an assault weapons ban would only be effective with mandatory gun confiscation and that universal background checks would only be effective with federal gun registration.
Still think grandfathering existing weapons and simple universal background checks sounds like a good idea? Make no mistake, an assault weapons ban of any kind, even with a grandfathering clause is a step towards gun confiscation. Also realize that universal background checks are just the first step the government needs in implementing a federal gun registration, and as history has shown us, federal registration almost always leads to confiscation.

Before it is too late; If you own a gun that is likely to be confiscated after registration (AR15 Glock, etc.), My suggest is: Find someone who is unknown to you who has a similar gun and you sell him yours and he sells you his. It is legal today but may not be in the future. Then when they ask you to register you can honestly say you sold the gun, don't have it anymore and don't know the name of the person who bought it. The gun you acquired in that transaction is now unknown to the authorities so you don't mention it and if need be you cache it until we get a legal pro-constitution president and congress back. Perhaps gun shops can assist this process by allowing postings on bulletin boards for these trades.

Except, there's no such thing as an assault weapon. One can be assaulted with anything, even a toothpick. According to the DHS, I have several pairs of assault scissors. It's very simple: The government wants to kill all conservatives. End of story.
