The fate of Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi has been on my mind for several days now, and I may have finally come up with a solution to the problem. Sgt. Tahmooressi had recently moved to Southern California from Florida when, on April first, he accidentally missed a turnoff on the highway and drove right into Mexico - missing a turnoff being something that most of us have done at one time or another. Unfortunately he had a couple of guns in his truck – guns he had a legal right to have according to American law, but not according to Mexican law. Realizing his mistake, he was honest and immediately reported this fact, adding that he had not intended to enter Mexico at all. Rather than direct him back over the border, some Mexican official had him arrested and incarcerated, and he has suffered quite enough at this point. Even CNN has played a video about his case.
Clearly, we cannot exchange Tahmooressi for a dangerous Taliban who has been held in our prison in Guantanamo – President Obama might want another photo op and need to use one or more of them to bring back some other angry, stupid, American-passport owning fool who hates this country. But we do have another bargaining chip and I urge the Governors of Texas and other states along the border (are you listening, Jan Brewer?) to use it because clearly it doesn’t interest Obama.
In 2011, approximately 6,000 illegal immigrants crossed the border. Most of these illegal immigrants are now children although in fact a high percentage are in their teens and include drug dealers, rapists, and other criminal elements and not a few bring contagious diseases with them. This year, another 60,000 illegal immigrants are expected, and an even greater number in 2015. Most of them are from Central America, not Mexico, and just in case you are unaware of Mexican immigration laws – well, they are a lot tougher than American ones, and the Mexicans do not want Central Americans in their country.
Therefore, I urge the governors of American border states, especially the Governor of Texas, to offer to deport these Central Americans to Mexico unless Sgt. Tahmooressi is returned to the USA. When he is returned, then we (this state or states) can turn over the Central Americans to Mexico anyway, or to their countries of origin. Some will say this will angry Mexico or the Central American countries – but wasn’t it Mexico that allowed them to cross their country? As to the Central American countries, well borders need to be protected on both sides and they obviously are not doing so.
If my solution is enacted, the Mexicans will be rid of Sgt. Tahmooressi, and if we send them directly back to their own countries, it is a big win for Mexico. If we deport these illegals over the border into Mexico, we will have transported our problem to Mexico. In addition, this should serve as a great disincentive to all those in Central America who would even think about coming here. This won’t be to the liking of King Barack but who cares? certainly not any patriotic American. This will be good for America, and a win is what every country wants, or should want.
Efforts are gaining strength to release an American held in a Mexican jail and the wife and children of an American citizen, Daniel Wani of New Hampshire, who are being held in a Sudanese jail. Each of them has been the topic of previous articles by this writer (see here and here) who is indignant at these travesties of justice.
If the White House sincerely believes that America leaves no man (specifically a military man) behind – then why have they allowed Sgt. Tahmooressi to languish in a Mexican jail for so long? (Oh right, I forgot, he doesn’t further the Obama agenda). On June twentieth Tahmooressi’s mother said on CNN that they have heard nothing from the White House. That she appeared on CNN is a good sign (that one of the most ‘progressive’ news outlets is finally picking up this story). Furthermore Mrs. Tahmooressi was interviewed by anchor Chris Cuomo, son a former New York state governor, and brother of the current one. This means that not only is CNN becoming aware of the story, but so will the elites in the New York Democrat Party as well as American low-information voters.
A petition to the White House on behalf of Tahmooressi reached the 100,000 point on May 31. At that point the White House is required to respond. However Tahmooressi remains in a Mexican jail.
Meriam Yahya Ibrahim Ishag
U.S. Rep. Trent Franks is leading the charge to rescue Meriam Yahya Ibrahim Ishag, a Sudanese Christian and her two children. Franks’ bi-partisan petition was addressed to Secretary of State John Kerry (cc’d to the Secretary of Homeland Security). Those signing the petition were: Trent Franks (R-AZ), Spencer Bachus (R-AL), Rob Bishop (R-UT), Paul C. Broun (R-GA), Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (D-GA), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Steve Chabot (R-OH), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Steve Daines (R-MT), John Fleming (R-LA), J. Randy Forbes (R-VA), Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE), Michael Grimm (R-NY), Tom Griffin (R-AR), Gregg Harper (R-MS), Andy Harris, M.D. (R-MD), Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), Jaime Herrera Buetler (R-WA), Steve King, M.D. (R-IA), Jack Kingston (R-GA), Leonard Lance (R-NJ), Robert E. Latta (R-OH), Mike McIntyre (D-NC), Alan Nunnelee (R-MS), Gary Peters (D-MI), Collin C. Peterson(D-MN), Robert Pittenger (R-NC), Charles Rangel (D-NY), Jan Schackowsky (D-IL), F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr. (R-WI), Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH), Chris Smith (R-NJ), Steve Stivers (R-OH), Jackie Walorski (R-IN), Brad Wendstrup (R-OH), Frank Wolf (R-VA), and Don Young (R-AK).
In their letter they asked Kerry to “direct” the Embassy in Khartoum, to “prioritize the plight of this young family” and to have both the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security quickly review all possible means available to grant them sanctuary in the United States.” The also asked that priority be given to “granting her children U.S. citizenship, and ensuring that Mr. Wani has custody of his children.” Yet the above list of 38 members of the House of Representatives who signed the petition calls into question this “where were the other 397 members of the House? Why didn’t they sign it?” Those that are familiar with this family’s story can have little doubt of its truth, and that rescuing her from certain death, and all of them from a Sudanese jail is meritorious. In addition on June 9 in the House Rep. Cotton introduced H.R. 4821.
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) introduced Senate Resolution 453 which was passed by unanimous (now that is a surprise) consent on June 3 – it condemns the charge of apostasy and the death sentence for Meriam Yahya Ibrahim Ishag, and calls for “the release of her and her children.” In addition Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) introduced S. 2474 on June 12. Yet they remain in dire straits in Sudan, a woman married to an American citizen and her two American citizen children, including an infant born in prison. Legally they have a right to come here where they may practice their religion in freedom – not so the hordes of Latin Americans now crossing into America who have no legal right to be here. Lady Liberty must feel ashamed at this travesty of justice.
Canceling the simulcast of ‘The Death of Klinghoffer” does not exculpate any of the personnel affiliated with the opera if the show will be presented on stage as scheduled. Because Peter Gelb acknowledged the “genuine concern in the international Jewish community,” he is not oblivious to the impropriety, yet he continues unimpeded. He may well be an active partner to the insult, an accomplice to Alice Goodman’s rejection of their mutual heritage, or he lacks the capacity to see that this production should also be of enormous concern to the greater American community. It would appear that this may well rank with the Bavarian Oberammergau that continues to inspire antisemitism – but not only antisemitism. This perverted story is an act of jihad.
For the still uninformed, Jihad is “holy war,” or it would be a holy war if Islam were a bona fide religion. However, Islam is political ideology, a movement of conquest that is presented as a religion (a religion of peace, no less!), a duty for all Muslims to wage war against the non-Islamic world on behalf of their prophet, Mohammed. In the 7th century, after 13 years of futile attempts at converting Meccan and Medinan Jews, Christians and idol worshippers to his new religion, Mohammed began torturing, looting and destroying those who would not accept his “religion” or him as prophet. He beheaded (Jewish) men, enslaved women and children, and killed until both cities were inhabited by Muslims only. Thus he acquired land and converts to Islam. To this day, his followers must obey the same Qur’anic decrees. Eighty percent of the Qur’an is devoted to dealing with the unbeliever. Mohammed converted about 10,000 to Islam every year, committing violence until the end of his life. Islam is a detailed political system, a demonic doctrine of jihad and the implementation of Islamic laws, Sharia, everywhere.
9:29 Make war on those who have received the Scriptures (Jews and Christians) but do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day. They do not forbid what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden. The Christians and Jews do not follow the religion of truth until they submit and pay the poll tax (jizya) and they are humiliated.
Over these 1400 years, Jihad has been responsible for the death of 270 million people worldwide. Known as “The Tears of Jihad,” they include 60 million Christians, 80 million Hindus, 10 million Buddhists, 120 million Africans, the number increases with each attack throughout the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Russia, India and China. To assume that we Americans are not included in their vision is, at the least, foolish. To paint the jihadists as though they might be justified or in need of compassion is reckless. We cannot turn a blind eye and portray the terrorists with humanity, or we will not be able to defend ourselves as they change our culture and mindset in this slow, methodical onslaught. These cold-blooded killers who are meticulously trained since childhood to revel and celebrate death have been robbed of all humanity.
The opera’s purpose is to prime us to be insensitive to the death of a wheelchair-bound American, a veteran of World War II, an inventor and appliance manufacturer, a husband and father, with the smokescreen that he is Jewish and, therefore, responsible for every misfortune known to the Muslim world. It is also preparing us to slowly lose our moral compass, take on their Qur’anic mission of hate and death, and tolerate their violence, evil, and bloodlust as “acceptable under the circumstances.” It is enhanced with the accusation of "Islamophobia," to prevent us from naming and discussing the enemy.
Raymond Ibrahim, Associate Fellow at the Middle East Forum and author, has exposed Islam’s war on Christians. There are news reports daily of Muslim killings according to Muhammad’s commands – oppressing their women, honor killings, hunting down apostates, kidnapping children into sexual slavery, and converting or killing Christians in Afghanistan, Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Iran, Krygyz, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Tanzania, and into Europe. You need only turn on the few TV channels that are still dedicated to reporting the truth.
The opera is an insult to the memory of Leon Klinghoffer and his family and an assault on us and our humanity. We must not be manipulated into this gradual acceptance of the Islamic viewpoint. We must understand that this is yet another jihad war strategy with the purpose of destroying us – nihilism - to establish an Islamic caliphate in the Western world. There is no greater threat to mankind today than Islam and this opera must not be staged.
This Heritage event on Benghazi has gotten a lot of press over the last day or two, with the left claiming the event turned ‘ugly‘ and that the Muslim woman was ‘pounced on’ and ‘bullied’ by members of the panel.
But after watching it myself, that characterization couldn’t be more wrong. In fact Brigitte Gabriel’s answer to this Muslim woman is perhaps the best answer I’ve ever heard to the ‘peaceful Muslims’ question.
If you want to watch the full video that includes a response by Frank Gaffney in the beginning, watch below:
War On Women? What? No hashtag "Save our girls"? Who will they select to murder next? Jewish babies? Children of Conservatives? Selection of who lives and who dies is a slippery slope.
Guess we don't need any female babies born to Americans these days, we are bussing in little girls and pregnant women from Mexico, Central America, etc.
I don't suppose any of the Democrats will adopt any of these girls. They seem to be in favor of abortion/murder of babies, even when they are born alive and can survive outside the womb. Will there be a push to murder all the girls coming into the country? Will they give homes to the "little boys"... (actually grown tenagers covered in gang tattoos). I think not.
The Planned Parenthood abortion business has come under fire from pro-lifers over the years for refusing to speak out against sex-selection abortions. Now, in a letter to members of the California state legislature, the abortion giant may have given a reason why: it opposes a ban on sex-selection abortions.
In a June 12, 2014, letter to lawmakers, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California hand-delivered a letter to all California Assembly Members and State Senators. A copy of the letter includes five bullet points and the fifth bullet point includes specific opposition to “sex selection abortion bans.”
Not only does the abortion corporation indicate it opposes a ban on aborting baby girls simply because they are girls, Planned Parenthood informs lawmakers that votes on legislation like a sex-selection abortion ban will be reported to its membership, where lawmakers voting pro-life for such a ban would almost assuredly be given black marks on its scorecard.
The California Pro-Life Council, which tipped off LifeNews to the letter, remarks: “PPAC may want to be selective in telling the general public that their pro-choice legislators actually voted in favor of “sex-selection” abortions.”

To the Staff of the Metropolitan Opera:
During World War II, a violinist dressed in military uniform went to play for the servicemen in a United States Army hospital in Italy. As he entered a ward designated for young men who had recently lost limbs, he was shocked to see that one patient was attempting to applaud with his only hand. As the musician’s face lit up with compassion and sensitivity, he raised his violin and played. His name was Jascha Heifetz, a Lithuanian-born Jewish American whose 65-year career began at age four. He made his Carnegie Hall debut at age 16, and became world renowned for the perfection to which other violinists still aspire.
Seated next to Heifetz at the hospital piano was pianist Milton Kaye. Fifty years later, Kaye recalled that memorable concert when he heard “the greatest violinist of the ages.” The following year, pianist Seymour Lipkin beheld that same magnificence when he accompanied Heifetz on another GI tour, stating that the violinist always played his best, no matter the circumstances. Heifetz had been so moved when he entertained the paraplegics, that despite his grueling schedule, he continued to add more such concerts to his tours, and Kaye remembers those days as “the greatest privilege” of his musical life.
In addition to an unparalleled talent, Heifetz had what is known as neshamah, a Jewish soul – what may be described as an energy and essence of virtue and humanity, passion and compassion, and depth of empathy for others. It was even apparent to his father who saw the four-year-old prodigy cry when he played sad music. No doubt, it is the Israeli neshamah that provides quality medical attention even to their enemies, and the same that sends Israeli first responders to countries devastated by natural disasters. And it is this same quality that appears to have eluded the next generation of Heifetzes,-- Jascha’s great nephew, Peter Gelb, artistic director at the Metropolitan Opera (The “Met”).
It was said of Gelb that he declares himself a man of the people, but that he is out of touch with the prevailing zeitgeist (culture of the time). Noted in the Berkshire Fine Arts, Gelb lacks the qualifications to organize a program and appoint or audition singers and, despite his inexpertise, captured this Met position from the ailing James Levine. But it is Gelb’s choice of opera for the 2014 fall season that is most disturbing.
The Death of Klinghoffer was cited for being anti-Semitic and pro-Islamic terrorism, and Gelb’s integrity and moral compass are in question. Instead of eliciting compassion and tears for the murder of a defenseless, wheelchair-bound man, Mr. Leon Klinghoffer, a fellow-American and Jew, Gelb’s opera will offer sympathy and apology for the Islamic murderers – who might just as well have thrown the Jewish-American Gelb overboard, had he vacationed aboard the ill-fated Achille Lauro.
Gelb’s collaborators were director Peter Sellars and choreographer Mark Morris for concept, John Adams’ music and Alice Goodman’s libretto. The opera was commissioned by five American and European opera companies and was first performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. And the Met staff decided to cast ethics to the wind and fan the flames of anti-Semitism.
Rather than show concern for the victim and his family, and the other terrified, endangered tourists who were taken hostage, although ultimately spared, the artistes extol the contrived virtues of the cold-blooded killers. They have taken a pro-Islamic, anti-American/Jewish stance in favor of an avowed enemy – Islam, whose adherents repeatedly warn that they will overtake the West and establish an Islamic caliphate on our soil. And the Met’s callous staff and cast will provide the venue for the glorification of Islam, thereby softening the eventual conquest of an acclimatized people.
Would these soulless specimens sympathize with these Muslims if the victim were also their own family member or religious compadre? Did they likewise sympathize with the Mahmoud Abbas-financed and -orchestrated Munich Massacre of 11 Israeli athletes? Or the Muslims who commandeered the planes that killed three thousand in the World Trade Center? Or the Boston Marathon jihadists who killed three and injured/crippled 264 racers? Or Major Hassan who fatally shot 13 and injured more than 30 at Fort Hood? Would the Met also consider providing sophisticated entertainment while reproducing the beheading of Jewish-American journalist, Daniel Pearl? Or blowing up a school bus of children in Chechnya or Israel? Perhaps Gelb would consider a choral group of 200 young girls for an opera about the Boko Haram kidnappings in Nigeria? What other inspiration might one select for musical adventures into the exaltation of Islam and its adherents for the pleasure of the unenlightened?
Can the Met not grasp that to glorify evil is evil? Just as we must never recreate the atrocities of the concentration camps for our amusement, so must we never recreate any acts of malevolence to minimize their impact on the human psyche. While the author(s) and producer(s) claim to find motivation for Islamic acts, they do not seek the truth; Islamic motivation is hate, envy, resentment, against Jews, Christians, Americans, Western Civilization.
·Mohammed bore extreme hate for the Jews because they rejected his new religion and his status as prophet.
·In revenge, he beheaded the Jewish men of Mecca and Medina, captured other men, women, and children as slaves (or for slave trade), seized the coveted metal crafts for his booty, and declared the cities holy for Islam. This success became part of the Islamic “religion.”
·The envy of Islam for Western accomplishments is strong because their lives were devoted to war, conquest, bloodshed, not learning or creativity. Therefore, their claims to invention come from the creativity of the nations they have conquered. Muslims are now asserting that Moses, Jesus, Christopher Columbus, and Albert Einstein were Muslim.
·Further envy and hatred come from their belief that Islam is the best and only religion, yet they are conflicted because their society is beset with illiteracy, poverty, distrust, discrimination, enslavement, vigilante killings and unhappiness. They understand that life is better in the West, yet they are in the West to change our system to theirs.
Just as we must never recreate the atrocities of the concentration camps for our amusement, so we must never recreate any acts of malevolence to minimize their impact on the human psyche. No matter what the adversity or personal history behind acts of evil, never forget that the acts are evil. Although Islamic motivation is hate, embedded in the Koran, and taught to the very young and throughout their lives, the motivation is immaterial.
Criminals must be held accountable, not excused, for their behavior, and never celebrated, or every felon would be freed and anarchy would reign. For the sake of our survival as a nation and as a species, our obligation is morality.
Sexual deviancy is not a protected civil right. Sexual deviancy exists and is noted by clinical psychiatrists. But deviants should not receive hugs at the White House and a welcomed berth in the military. President Barack Obama is the Commander-in-Chief of the combined military forces of the United States of America. He maintains an unusual focus on detrimental policy changes that weaken the traditions and morale of a professional standing army. Why such intense personal interest?
The door was closed the day that my Navy OIC (officer in charge) sat with me and the ten year (mandatory) review of a secret clearance landed on his desk. The officer under review was in my department and under my direct command. He had an incident of public lewdness, an unusual behavior, which had resulted in a civilian arrest. This arrest was now red-flagged. I was asked to pull one of two legal levers. The officer could be recommended for a psychiatric evaluation or processed for discharge. I chose the latter. Performance was not lacking in his duties. But it was time for him to put his uniform up. He had lost the right to wear it.
Things have changed drastically since the designation of Barack Obama as Commander-in-Chief . The man has not served within our ranks nor does he understand the subtle nuances of maintaining good order and discipline. We do have an Activist-in-Chief who believes that members of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community must have unfettered access to oath, uniform, and military benefits.
Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel states he is open to a review of a military ban on “transgender individuals”. Notice he uses the word “individuals”. He is unable to identify a transgender based on socially acceptable means because this individual, may as of yet, not be fully surgically “reassigned”. Man, woman or bearded lady. Who cares?
These things get tricky. Bradley Manning was the source for a huge cache of WikiLeaks documents. He now considers himself to be “Chelsea Manning”. He remains incarcerated within a male military prison at Leavenworth.
Ignoring the obvious, the Secretary of the Defense-of-Deviancy opines, the transgender issue is “a bit more complicated because it has a medical component to it.” Yep. Bradley may be sporting a blonde wig and lipstick. But until he undergoes multiple facial feminization surgeries and has his penis amputated, testes removed, and tissue used to construct a fake birth canal and labia, he is just plain old “Bradley”.
It was a real cliff-hanger, but is America a lucky country or what? Congressman Eric Cantor (R-VA) lost the GOP primary to Dave Brat, in Tuesday’s primary. As majority whip, Cantor is/was the second-most powerful man in the House of Representatives. A professional politician, Cantor has been playing the old professional politician’s game of talking out of both sides of his mouth, and on amnesty ‘that dog won’t hunt.’
While Cantor has made claims that he opposed amnesty he has also made statements about his willingness to work with President Barack Obama on the issue – and we know where he stands. Does Cantor really think that his constituents are that stupid? Does he think that they wouldn’t know or care when it is quite clear that unemployment is high and that making it possible for more illegal immigrants to enter and work in this country will only make matters worse.
This was a tremendous victory for conservatives who strongly support the rule of law and understand that neither the President, nor the Republican leadership, do support it. Most defeats of incumbents come from the opposing party in the final election, but this one came in a primary when the little known challenger, Dave Brat, an economics professor, became the Republican candidate. This was a real setback for Cantor and may permanently derail his political career.
Conservatives will now become more confident in their opposition to legislation creating a ‘path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.’ (Incidentally there already is a ‘path to citizenship’ – it is called legal immigration.) Cantor’s defeat is evidence that Americans don’t want such legislation and this election will almost certainly discourage those legislators who were in favor of it, while strengthening the position of those who are opposed to it. Cantor’s defeat (what lovely words) may signal the rest of the GOP that the issue of amnesty is a very bad idea in 2014 – unless it is in opposition to illegal immigration.
The campaign focused on immigration with Brat accusing Cantor of supporting amnesty for illegal immigrants. Cantor’s response was to send out mailers in which he attacked the Senate plan of giving ‘illegal aliens amnesty.’ Yet, Cantor has supported giving citizenship to immigrants brought to this county as children, and along with other House GOP leaders he has advocated a limited approach instead of the comprehensive approach supported by the Senate. However, Cantor has never been very precise regarding details.
Brat faced formidable odds on two counts: he was an unknown facing a well-known incumbent and he had very little money to spend on this campaign. Brat had a little over $200,000 for his campaign while Cantor spent more than $1 million in just April and May. Among Cantor’s donors have been the American Chemistry Council, which spent more than $300,000 just on TV ads promoting Cantor. Other Cantor supporters were the National Association of Realtors, the American College of Radiology, and the National Rifle Association. Yes, the NRA supported Cantor, who might be a fine on the 2nd Amendment, but very much not what the voters want when it comes to the issue of immigration.
Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham was one of Brat’s supporters as were a few local Tea Party activists who do not trust Cantor. Brat’s win seems to be evidence that ‘The grassroots is in revolt and marching,’ said Brent Bozell, a conservator leader who is both Chairman of For America and Founder and President of The Media Research Center. Furthermore, votes in Cantor’s district increased 37% over two years ago, while Cantor actually received fewer votes than in 2012 (28,631 this time, compared to 37,369 in 2012).
This was truly a David vs. Goliath contest and should inspire every challenger who faces a Democrat, a RINO, and or an incumbent who, like Cantor fails to take a reading of the American people. While it is true that there are a lot of low information voters out there (and most do not vote in the primaries), the American people on the whole revere the Constitution and are politically conservative – on every issue.
We, the American people, are coming to get them – the Democrats, the RINOs, and all those legislators who live a comfortable life at the taxpayers’ expense while ignoring the reality that America is in deep trouble, caused by a rejection of the Constitution. We are coming to get them – out of office. Cantor didn’t see this coming, and it is quite possible that they won’t either.
Joe Kaufman’s race against Debbie Wasserman Schultz (aka DWS) (D-FL) is another one well worth watching. This election will not get a lot of national attention until after Florida’s August 26th primary, but it is very important as DWS is both a radical leftist and chairman of the Democratic National Party. Oh, and incidentally, Conservative political pundit Ann Coulter has endorsed Joe Kaufman in this race.
Barack Obama was SO concerned about the health of healthy looking Bowe Bergdahl, the American soldier of dubious loyalty who claims that he was held hostage by the Taliban. Hence, in violation of a bill Obama had himself signed into law, he negotiated to allow Bergdahl’s release. Yet somehow Obama has apparently shown zero interest in the health of the family of Daniel Wani, a naturalized American citizen. Wani is a Christian, as is his Sudanese wife Dr. Meriam Ibrahim who on May 27th gave birth to a baby girl in the prison hospital at Omdurman Federal Women’s Prison in North Khartoum. According to Human Rights Watch the prison is overcrowded and has poor sanitation, both of which are particularly hard on the many children living there with their mothers.
Meriam’s parents were an Orthodox Christian woman from Ethiopia and a Sudanese Muslim who left them when Meriam was six years old. Raised as a Christian, she refuses to renounce her faith and ‘return’ to Islam, hence she was arrested and placed in prison last February. As all children of Muslim men are automatically considered Muslim, therefore Meriam is considered Muslim under Sudanese law. The punishment in Sudan for apostasy, which she is accused of, is death by hanging. However, as she has just given birth execution will be delayed for two years until the child is weaned.
According to Islamic law upon which Sudanese law is based, a Muslim man may marry a non-Muslim woman, but a Muslim woman cannot marry a non-Muslim. Therefore her marriage is considered void. Sudanese officials say that her 20 month old son Martin, an American thanks to his father, is a Muslim too and therefore cannot be released to the care of his father.
Greta Van Susteren interviewed Daniel Wani see here recently and he revealed that that the American Consulate in Khartoum refused to do anything to help him as early as October, when she was already a few weeks pregnant with their second child. In fact it seems that the British Consulate has been more helpful.
What can you do? Put pressure on the Sudanese government. Sign the Amnesty International petition here to stop her execution, which carries this message to the Sudanese Minister of Justice:
Dear Minister of Justice,
Ensure that Meriam Yehya Ibrahim is released immediately and unconditionally. She is a prisoner of conscience, convicted solely because of her religious beliefs and identity.
But this is not enough, spread the word to everyone you know. While her execution may be two years away, the health of all three of them is in immediate jeopardy. This is no place for an infant or a toddler and it is up to us to do whatever we can assure their prompt release.
Here is the real question. Who benefits from this deal? The United States military does not benefit. This eviscerates morale within the ranks. There are no yellow ribbons tied around the old oak tree, no veterans clamouring to line up and shake Bergdahl’s hand
Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl is in Germany. Rejoice not, America.
A man who deserted his military post in Afghanistan crawled through the bushes into the waiting arms of the enemy. He now emerges from the shadows five years later. The posture he exhibited in the limited-release videos after his capture put the meat on the bone of this matter. Lil’ Bowe preached an anti-West message while filling his belly with a lovely feast. He appeared in a second propaganda video wearing his uniform and practicing karate kicks. The whole thing was surreal and the venue was definitely vaudeville. Lil’ Bowe made a final, brief appearance in a video in which he was not paraded about like prize livestock. The still image from the video is one with which we are all familiar. He looks gaunt, like someone who had fallen out of favour with his captors. When viewing the final video with the stumble-across glimpse of Bowe Bergdahl, I did not feel any sense of empathy. This man is not a kindred spirit. I kept my military oath. Mr Bergdahl walked away from his and toward individuals harbouring intent and will to kill American soldiers and citizens.
In 2010 a Pentagon investigation released their findings. It was incontrovertible that a man who was tasked with the defence of our nation was AWOL (absent without orderly leave) and had deserted his unit. Members of his unit are opening up about his behaviour prior to his desertion. On one forum, the medic from his unit states that five soldiers lost their lives in the pursuit of returning him to his unit, and there was an increase in attacks on American troops in the region after he slithered off into the brush. Enter stage left, with the woman who lied about Benghazi and events preceding the death of an American ambassador. National Security Advisor Susan Rice not only describes Bergdahl as “...an American prisoner of war captured on the battlefield” but also opines on ABC’s This Week that “he served the United States with honour and distinction”.
