A Fish Named Obama

BuzzFeed reports:

Last week, five new fish species were given some left-leaning names after being recognized as distinct species for the first time. The five fish species were previously considered populations of the wider-ranging Speckled Darter (Etheostoma stigmaeum), but male breeding colors and morphology have revealed their 'true colors.' The fish were "discovered" and named by Steve Layman from Geosyntec Consultants in Georgia and Rick Mayden from the Department of Biology at Saint Louis University.

Al Gore, Bill Clinton, Teddy Roosevelt, and Jimmy Carter are also honored by the names of these new freshwater darter species.

Governor Haslam lied to legislators in a conference call yesterday, and is on the verge of breaking TN law

In a conference call yesterday Governor Haslam lied to state legislators telling them that there is no choice but to implement an Obamacare Insurance Exchange in Tennessee -- THIS IS UNTRUE.

Apparently Governor Haslam hasn't read the Supreme Court decision on Obamacare which reads that the state governments cannot be compelled by the Feds to action as is explained here: http://www.medibid.com/blog/2012/11/states-resist-obamacare-refuse-exchanges/

Governor Haslam needs to get with the program, learn the facts, and stop spewing untruths. If he approves the Obamacare Insurance Exchange then he will be breaking Tennessee State Law. A few years ago the TN legislature passed the TN Health Freedom Act which says -- "It is declared that the public policy of this state, consistent with our constitutionally recognized and inalienable right of liberty, is that every person within this state is and shall be free to choose or to decline to choose any mode of securing health care services without penalty or threat of penalty.... No public official, employee, or agent of this state or any of its political subdivisions shall act to impose, collect, enforce, or effectuate any penalty in this state that violates the public policy set forth in this section. Must Read Article On Benghazi

Every American and every American who has not yet cast their vote for President of the United States, needs to read the latest article at Gatestone Institute:  Benghazi: Critical Information and Unanswered Questions, written by Timothy Wilson.

Wilson lists every question President Barack Obama has not yet answered.  He lists every piece of information we have in events that happened before, during, and after the attack on the Consulate (a/k/a mission as the Obama administration like to call it) that resulted in the death of four Americans and the injury of many others.

Read the article, forward the link to your friends, neighbors, co-workers.  Share it on FaceBook, Twitter, whatever.  Is this the kind of president we want as Commander in Chief, who allowed Americans to be attacked, tortured and murdered without lifting a finger - or do we want to vote him out of office?  Below is a short excerpt:

Benghazi: Critical Information and Unanswered Questions

Unlike 9/11/01 the clear story of what transpired in Benghazi has been slow to come out, with unclear, obfuscatory, contradictory and even false information "releases" from our government. With one incandescent exception, the mainstream media reaction to this event has been, to be kind, dilatory. Fox News, often derided by competitors and many of a liberal mindset, deserves enormous praise for their coverage. In particular Catherine Herridge, their Homeland Security correspondent and her National Security colleague Jennifer Griffin deserve outstanding credit for their ground-breaking, in-depth reporting on this story.

The story is of huge importance domestically for raising harsh questions over American security, leadership and policy; and abroad for illuminating how another successful attack on Americans both in the murder of the Ambassador and on American lives, soil and property at a consulate is a devastating blow to our standing and strength as perceived by foreign nations and nationals.

Although we have an overview of events, it is unclear and incomplete. The President has so far not fully answered the following key questions:

• Where were you and exactly when were you informed that our consulate in Benghazi was under attack?
• What immediate action did you take? Where did you go, how long did you stay there, who did you talk to and what orders did you issue, to whom? How long did you remain engaged in managing the crisis? At what time did you disengage from personal control of the ordeal and to who did you delegate authority to handle matters?
• Did you personally see the video and hear the audio from Benghazi in real time?
• Will you authorize the release to the public of the video and audio feed recordings? Please bear in mind that we all accept national security considerations, but also that we are not fools and have seen drone and aircraft feeds and security camera outputs from many other theaters and will not accept classification for pure censorship purposes. The event has been over for more than 7 weeks. The enemy has fled the area. Will you also release (redacted) transcripts of any written orders that went out as a result of decisions you made?
• It would appear that the threat to our diplomatic staff in Libya was grossly underestimated. Who is responsible and what steps are you taking to correct such matters so that it does not happen again?

One thought from me on the elections. 

We know that we have a president, Barack Hussein Obama, who is sympathetic to Islam.  We know that there is a push from around the workd to limit free speech when it comes to Islam;  to push for acceptance of Sharia law which is truly a blight on all free people, especially women and children.  We also know that Mitt Romney has spoken out against Sharia and has named the enemy.  My choice is Mitt Romney.  I have already cast my vote for him and I ask you to do the same. -- Debbie

 

 

Jack Daniel's releases a 'white dog' whiskey

(Fox News)  Whiskey lovers now have something more to contemplate than just the amber-hued liquid in their glasses.

For the first time since the Prohibition Era, Jack Daniel’s distillery has formally released a “white dog” unaged rye whiskey.

The Tennessee distillery's Unaged Rye will hit stores across the U.S. early next year, with an initial December launch in select retail outlets in Tennessee.

It is made with a combination of 70 percent rye – 19 percent above the legal minimum for a rye whiskey – 18 percent corn and 12 percent malted barley.  It  still goes through Jack Daniels’ signature charcoal mellowing process, providing a unique tasting experience, says Jack Daniel’s master distiller Jeff Arnett.  (continue at Fox News)

 

Pakistani Clerics Issue Fatwa Against Taliban After Teen Girl Is Shot in Head

Via Gateway Pundit, where you can watch the video:  Muslims across the Swat valley have been speaking about the attack on 14 year-old activist Malala Yousafzai, calling for the government to punish her attackers.  But I say don't get too excited about the headline, read between the lines of what they say. 

Remember that the Taliban put a hit out on this little girl, sent their special hit squad to shoot her,  for writing a blog advocating for peace and advocating that girls should be able to attend schools.  For this they shot her in the head. 

The BBC reports that she was flown from Pakistan on a plane from the United Arab Emirates, with a full medical team on board to keep an eye on her. She will be treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham at the specialist major trauma center. The Pakistani government is funding her care  (more)

Now to the Fatwa:

Several clerics issued a fatwa against the Taliban for the barbaric shooting.

Aljazeera reported:

Clerics on Friday declared the attempt on her life, made by Pakistani Taliban gunmen while the 14-year-old girl was on her way home from school in the Swat valley, to be “un-Islamic”.

The joint fatwa, or religious edict, was issued by at least 50 scholars associated with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), and appealed to worshippers to observe a “day of condemnation” on Friday.

“Islam holds the killing of one innocent person as killing the entirety of humanity,” Hamid Saeed Kazmi, a former religious affairs minister in Pakistan, told reporters.

[I say really?  What about September 11, 2001 and other terror attacks?]

“It also forbids the killing of a woman who has even denounced her religion.”

[I say really?  What about all the honor killings of women and girls because they choose to convert or live as Westerners?]

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan said Yousafzai, who had risen to international prominence for decrying Taliban efforts to stop girls from attending school in northwest Pakistan, had been “leading a campaign against Islam”.

But the clerics of the SIC said that attacking innocent women and children “was not jihad”. They also said the attackers were “agents of Washington”, defaming Islam, undermining Pakistan and legitimising the branding of Muslims as “terrorists”.

[I say really?  It's all Washington's fault?]

Yousafzai remains in critical condition, with doctors fearful of potential brain damage after removing a bullet from her skull. She remains stable and sedated, said a statement at a military press briefing early on Friday afternoon.

Round 1: Romney!

 I have to say that I have never seen anyone act the way Vice President Biden did last night.

I remember the pundits keep talking about the distracting nature of President Bush, 41, looking at his watch and Mr. Gores repeatedly exhaling in his debate with President Bush, 43.

How do we evaluate all the interrupting, smiles, giggles, ceiling watching and arms stretching that Mr. Biden did last night? My time in Law Enforcement tells me that when a person does these things, he is hiding the truth and using these mannerisms as a shield to prevent the truth from coming out.

Biden was disrespectful not just to Ryan, but to the People viewing. The American people deserve the truth with just over 25 days remaining for the election. I expect more of the same from Mr. Obama and he will use the politeness of Gov. Romney against him at every turn.

Romney can’t allow Obama to push him around. Not once. He must take it to Obama at every turn and not allow Obama in interfere with his comments. He is going to have to stop him every time he tries to change the subject. He has to push the Benghazi Consulate and State Department refusing them the security needs the requested.

Fact:

No one that is determined to attack or destroy a target in the Middle East (ME) is going to be stopped. When you are facing a people from a culture of death, as opposed to a people from a culture of life, you are on the wrong side of the power curve from the beginning. Even worse if you don’t want to face the facts but live in your own little world.

They will spill their own blood, and everyone else’s, to meet their desires to die for Allah and his Messenger. They are in this for the whole planet, every human being under Islam’s control, and they will accept nothing less than that, regardless of how many people, Muslim or otherwise,  must die along the way.

The point is when a defensive position requests from their higher up more personnel and assets to secure their position, it is a tactical decision. But in this case, this situation was decided on a political basis. Why harden a consulate in Libya, when there is no threat, no terror, no Al Qaeda (AQ). The security requests did not match the narrative that Mr. Obama has been spouting from the day he entered office: No War on Terror, We are your friends, your pals, we were wrong, we are arrogant, all is forgiven!

Never turn over our own territories security to contract guards. Either it is worth our blood and treasure or it is not. If you have non-Americans provide your security, you are showing how weak you really are.

Suicide blast against Israeli youth kills 6, injures 32 - UPDATED

Update: Initial reports stated suicide bombing but apparently a bomb was placed in the luggage hold of the bus

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called it "an Iranian terror attack" and others agree.   According to the AP, Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Jonathan Rosenzweig said a flight from Tel Aviv had landed at 4:45 p.m. at the airport and that the blast took place about 40 minutes later. The tourists were apparently boarding the buses to go to their hotels.  ... This bombing coincided with the 18th anniversary of the bombing of a Jewish community center in Argentina that killed 85 people.

The explosion took place Wednesday in the Black Sea city of Burgas, some 400 kilometers (250 miles) east of the capital, Sofia.  ...

The Israeli premier noted that Wednesday's attack followed similar attacks or attempted attacks in India, Georgia, Thailand and Kenya and Cyprus in recent months. He said that once again, "all signs point to Iran," though he did not offer any evidence to back up the claim.

"This is an Iranian terror attack that is spreading across the world," Netanyahu said. "Israel will react strongly to Iran's terror."  (AP  , hat tip Drudge)

Two buses standing nearby were also damaged.

"I arrived at the airport about half-an-hour after the explosion, and saw three buses completely burnt out - just the metal bars were left," Bulgarian journalist Dobromir Dovkacharov said.

"There were crowds of people around, very distressed. One man said he saw decapitated heads. Others spoke of body parts flying through the air," he added.

 

New Film Exposes Nashville Islamist Network

The process of Islamist radicalization unfolds before the viewer as the story is told through the eyes of Melvin Beldsoe and Daris Long, the father of the Islamist terrorist and the father of his victim, making the film a powerful emotional journey. Beldsoe was exposed to radical Islam at Tennessee State University. The school allowed an organization called the Olive Tree Education to host lectures about Islam on campus. The organization's website promoted sermons by Anwar al-Awlaki and its leader teaches that Muslims must oppose "progressive Islam" that believes Islam isn't a "state matter." Muslims are not allowed to have opinions and must form a "reaction to Westernization" that involves implementing Sharia Law. In one clip, the leader is asked whether homosexuality is punishable by death under Islam. He replies in the affirmative.
