This attack comes as al-Qaeda promises more attacks on American, French, and British installations around the world and on the homeland.
(AP) -- A suspected suicide bomber detonated an explosive Friday in
front of the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, killing himself and a guard at the
entrance gate, officials said.
Francis Ricciardione told reporters that a Turkish citizen was also
wounded in the 1:15 p.m. blast in the Turkish capital.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but both Kurdish rebels and Islamic militants are active in Turkey.
bomb appeared to have exploded inside the security checkpoint at the
side entrance to the embassy, but did not damage the inside of the
embassy itself. [snip]
The first of six Patriot missile batteries
being deployed to Turkey to protect the country against attack from
Syria was just declared operational and placed under NATO command.
Others are expected to become operational in the coming days.
The United States gave the go-ahead Friday to deploy Patriot
anti-ballistic missiles to Turkey along with enough troops to operate
them as the heavily embattled government in neighboring Syria again
vehemently denied firing ballistic missiles at rebels. [snip]
U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta signed the order while en route to
Turkey to send two Patriot missile batteries and 400 U.S. troops to
operate them. The surface-to-air interceptors will help in "dealing with
threats that come out of Syria," Panetta said after landing at Incirlik

Over 3,000 US troops
have secretly returned to Iraq via Kuwait for missions pertaining to the
recent developments in Syria and northern Iraq, Press TV reports.
According to our correspondent, the US troops have secretly entered
Iraq in multiple stages and are mostly stationed at Balad military
garrison in Salahuddin province and al-Asad air base in al-Anbar
Reports say the troops include US Army officers and almost 17,000 more are set to secretly return to Iraq via the same route.
All US troops left Iraq by the end of 2011, after nine years of
occupation, as required by a 2008 bilateral security agreement between
the two countries. The troops left Iraq for the neighboring Kuwait. (PressTV, hat tip Drudge)
Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty disobeyed orders to “stand down” they instead “walked” while under fire to the Annex compound.
They walked there, approximately a half mile, retrieved the consulate
employees, and walked them back to the Annex. Woods and Doherty were
not in an armored SUV as previously reported. They were on Foot and
they were taking fire while doing so. [snip
When Woods and Doherty safely secured the 20 to 30 employees back in the
annex they took up positions on the roof, and Woods engaged
communication traffic proclaiming “Where the fuck is the Spectre“, referencing the AC-130 Gunship he anticipated would be overhead by then. Obviously it was never sent. (The Last Refuge)
SEALS not officially under military command argument:
... If Woods and Doherty were “Ex-SEALS”. then they were not officially
under military command (plausible deniability by our administration)
similar to our pilots who flew for Air America in the Vietnam war. They
would have been independent contractors working covertly for the CIA. I
think our despicable administration will ultimately try to claim they
were civilians and that the administration was under obligation to ask
the Libyan Gov’t for permission to return fire and that permission was
not given. (comment at The Last Refuge.,mooney1el October 28, 2012 at 5:30 pm)
That doesn't apply. They were Americans, working for America.
BlackFive asks whether Barack HUSSEIN Obama is derelict, incompetent, or a liar. I say he is all three.
Most people know that we’ve been lied to about the attacks in
Benghazi, but few realize the extent of those lies or the hidden secrets
they cover. After all, the lie is different at every level. Thanks to a
well placed source with extensive knowledge about the attack, the
disturbing truth is slowly beginning to emerge and is lining up with
information contained in my previous articles published here weeks ago (Here, Here and Here). The truth reveals the most serious situation in the world today as it involves the interests and destinies of us all.
A mosaic of lies
According to the U.S. government, Ambassador Christopher Stevens and
three other Americans were killed during a spontaneous protest at the
consulate office in Benghazi by a frenzied crowd of Muslims outraged
over an obscure internet video. Recently released “sensitive but not
classified e-mails” from Stevens to the U.S. Department of State painted
a picture of poor security for U.S. personnel and the embassy, which
was obviously true but had little to do with the events of September 11, 2012.
The failure to dispatch an extraction team or otherwise rescue the men
during a firefight that lasted upwards of nine grueling and tortuous
hours was not the result of any intelligence failure, but caused by our unwillingness to widen the conflict and expose the nature and scale of our true mission in Benghazi.
An organization calling itself American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) has
announced that they will be holding a four-day event called the "Conference for
Palestine in the US: A Movement United" in suburban Chicago from November 22-25.
It has been reported that Turkish Airlines is one of the major corporate
sponsors of the conference which is currently scheduled to take place at the Oak
Brook Hills Marriott Resort. The official state carrier of Turkey will be
contributing as much as $15,000 for the event and in order to encourage
attendance has announced that the “first 200 registrants will be entered into a
raffle to win an international airline ticket from Turkish Airlines.”
Ryan Mauro, a national security analyst at www.RadicalIslam.org and a contributor
to FOX News has reported in an article of October 16th that one of the central
themes of the conference will be the successful establishment of Islamist
interfaith partnerships with such Christian evangelical leaders as the Reverend
Donald Wagner of "Evangelicals for Middle East Understanding" who is also slated
to address the conference.
According to their web site, the mission statement of American Muslims for
Palestine calls for attention to be brought to "the people of Palestine who have
been living under occupation for decades", adding that, "we believe once
Americans know the truth that their tax dollars support the longest-lasting and
the last military occupation in modern history they won’t stand for it and will
demand that Congress change our foreign policy in the Middle East to one that is
Claire Berlinsk has an interesting article at the Stonegate Institute. Turkey's Sex, Lies and Videotapes. I will not excerpt it here because any excerpts would take away from the full message of the article.
I will tell you that it involves Turkey, porn, Turkish supreme court decisions, filtering internet access, banning porn and books, politicians, generals, journalists and other figures who have been blackmailed with illegally filmed videotapes of their sexual activity, foreign conspiracy, Fethullah Gülen sex tapes, [T]urning people's kids into unintentional porn stars, spying, obtaining confidential information about the Turkish military.
Go on and read the article, you know you want to. The author ends her article with this:
There is almost certainly more to this than what you just read. And this is the model democracy we are promoting to the Middle East?
There have been reports of a small number of C.I.A. officers are operating secretly in southern Turkey, helping allies decide which Syrian opposition fighters across the border will receive arms to fight the Syrian government, according to American officials and Arab intelligence officers. An "open secret". In recent weeks, there have been reports, mainly based on Western diplomatic sources, that rebels were receiving weapons supplied by Saudi Arabia and Qatar ... Many of the new weapons are being funneled through a Lebanese intermediary.
Now we hear of an F-4 jet that apparently went down Friday in the eastern Mediterranean in an area over the sea, southwest of the Turkish province of Hatay, which borders Syria. The latest report says Syria shot down the fighter jet.
Turkey has joined nations such as the United States in saying that Syrian President Bashar Assad should step down because of the uprising in his country that has killed thousands of people. Turkey also has set up refugee camps on its border for more than 32,000 Syrians who have fled the fighting. (CBS)
As to the CIA and the weapons:
The weapons, including automatic rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, ammunition and some antitank weapons, are being funneled mostly across the Turkish border by way of a shadowy network of intermediaries including Syria's Muslim Brotherhood and paid for by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the officials said.
The C.I.A. officers have been in southern Turkey for several weeks, in part to help keep weapons out of the hands of fighters allied with Al Qaeda or other terrorist groups, one senior American official said. The Obama administration has said it is not providing arms to the rebels, but it has also acknowledged that Syria's neighbors would do so.
The clandestine intelligence-gathering effort is the most detailed known instance of the limited American support for the military campaign against the Syrian government. It is also part of Washington's attempt to increase the pressure on President Bashar al-Assad of Syria, who has recently escalated his government's deadly crackdown on civilians and the militias battling his rule. With Russia blocking more aggressive steps against the Assad government, the United States and its allies have instead turned to diplomacy and aiding allied efforts to arm the rebels to force Mr. Assad from power.
By helping to vet rebel groups, American intelligence operatives in Turkey hope to learn more about a growing, changing opposition network inside of Syria and to establish new ties. "C.I.A. officers are there and they are trying to make new sources and recruit people," said one Arab intelligence official who is briefed regularly by American counterparts.
American officials and retired C.I.A. officials said the administration was also weighing additional assistance to rebels, like providing satellite imagery and other detailed intelligence on Syrian troop locations and movements. The administration is also considering whether to help the opposition set up a rudimentary intelligence service. But no decisions have been made on those measures or even more aggressive steps, like sending C.I.A. officers into Syria itself, they said. (AINA)
U.S. President Barack Obama ordered the use of U.S. foreign aid to promote rights for gays and lesbians abroad, including combating attempts by foreign governments to criminalize homosexuality. The U.S. State Department and the U.S. Agency for International Development are ordered to use foreign aid to assist gays and lesbians who are facing human rights violations, according to this AP report.
No mention of the plight of Christians in countries receiving U.S. money.
Also no mention of the treatment of women in these countries.
No mention of the treatment of children either. Unless they happen to be LGTB children (Lesbian Gay Transgender Bisexual).
According to the AP report, this is part of the White House's outreach to gays and lesbians, a core Democratic constituency. Again, as I have discussed again, and again, and again, the minority rules, minority gets the money and the attention while Christians are getting slaughtered all over the globe, especially as part of Obama's Arab Spring.
If you have any doubts about the attacks on Christians around the world, check out the website Christians Under Attack, scroll down and read some of the articles. Country after country, Turkey, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, Yemen, (insert almost any Islamic country, Muslim majority country), and countries you would not immediately consider like -- Manhattan USA, Britain, and on and on.
Check out the treatment of women and children in countries that receive U.S. money. One-third of all US aid goes to Egypt and Israel, according to this website where you can see the countries receiving U.S. money and the amounts received in 2010.
I am sick of this, sick of the minority receiving preference to the majority. American taxpayers are crushed under the weight of taxes and a president who has spent more than all previous presidents combined. I'm with Rick Perry here, place foreign aid for every country at zero and re-evaluate every dollar we give away.
Given Barack Obama's recent dissing of Israel's prime minister at the G20 summit, this image of Obama firmly embracing Turkey's Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the venomously anti-Israel Islamic supremacist prime minister who is destroying Kemalist secularism and turning Turkey back into an Islamic state ... is certainly not only no surprise but also makes clear his own degree of antisemitism and affinity for Islamism:
Consider who Obama chose to hug. Turkey, under Erdogan, has abandoned the separation of mosque and state, abandoned Ataturk, abandoned its ties with Israel and increasingly pursues the delusion of a return of the Ottoman Empire. (continue reading)
It's not just Obama who has no shame when submitting to Islamists. Sen. Bill Nelson is one of the latest:
A top activist tied to one of the most notorious Islamist political organizations (CAIR) co-hosted a re-election fundraiser last month for U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson.
Details about the Florida Democrat's Oct. 22 fundraiser in Ocala are sparse —limited mostly to what Ahmed Bedier, former Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Tampa director, posted on his Facebook page. He published a series of pictures under the heading "Hosting Senator Bill Nelson." Those pictures showed Nelson, microphone in hand, addressing supporters as Bedier stood just behind him. The fundraiser was held in the home of a doctor named Manal Fakhoury.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s speech justifying Obama Administration Middle East policy changes everything. True, it isn’t surprising. I’ve been writing for almost three years about how the current U.S. government thinks these things.
Do not underestimate this speech's importance. It isn't a reluctant acceptance that Islamists might win elections and take over coutries. It is an enthusiastic endorsement of that idea.
But now there can be no doubt that Obama’s Middle East policy is engaged in what might be the biggest blunder in the history of U.S. foreign policy. Millions of people will bemoan it as delivering their countries into the grip of repressive dictatorships.
The speech can be summarized as follows:
Islamist regimes—at least those whose “behavior” is proper--are good. If Islamists exercise political power they will be moderate. Thus, the United States will not merely tolerate but will actually support Islamists taking power.
The Obama Administration is now on the side of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hizballah, and the Taliban (“moderate” wing). It is the equivalent of an American government telling you that Communism and fascism are no threat because they can be tamed by participating in elections and being in power.
Thus, the Obama Administration has openly sided with Israel’s enemies. I don’t mean the Palestinian Authority (PA) or Saudi Arabia. That would be tolerable. We’re talking here about openly genocidal, antisemitic groups. (continue at Pajamas Media)
We knew where Obama stood, he makes no efforts to hide his hatred of Israel, America, and his love of Islamists.
SyrianPresident Bashar Assad has threatened to ignite a firestorm in the Middle East by promising an immediate attack on Israel if NATO takes military action against his beleaguered government. According to Iran’s Fars news agency, Assad told Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu at a meeting on Tuesday, October 4, “I won’t need more than six hours to transfer hundreds of rockets to Golan to fire at Tel Aviv”.
He went on to say that the attacks will not be limited to Israel. “All these events will happen in three hours, and in the following three hours, Iran will attack the US warships in the Persian Gulf and the US and European interests will be targeted simultaneously,” Assad said, according to FARS.
He was not exaggerating; what he threatened may well be possible. The rockets (and missiles) are there, provided to Syria and Hezbollah by Iran over the past five years. Some are already in position.
His words must have fallen on welcoming ears, even though Turkey is now taking a hard line against its neighbor. Under the direct leadership of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey has been rattling sabers throughout the region, raising the specter of war that will go beyond the narrow confines of national borders. In recent weeks, Turkey has begun a campaign of harassment against Israel’s merchant marine in the Mediterranean, threatening Cyprus’ off-shore gas exploration site, promising to protect a planned blockade-busting flotilla against Israel with it navy, and, yesterday, imposing undetermined sanctions on Syria’s Assad government.
