The Country That Squeaks

Everyone knows that the United States of America is the most giving nation on the planet Earth.  We are attacked by an enemy, we defeat the enemy, then we help them rebuild with American finances, supplies, manpower, and resources.  What other nation does that?

In the movie
The Mouse that Roared staring Peter Sellers, the Duchy of Grand Fenwick TheMouseThatRoared decides that the only way to get out of their economic woes and escape bankruptcy, is to declare war on the United States, lose and accept foreign aid.  Prime Minister Mountjoy says: "In other words, gentlemen, in effect, we declare war on Monday, we are defeated on Tuesday and by Friday we will be rehabilitated beyond our wildest dreams."

While the above story is pure fiction, there are many truths throughout the movie.  The United States has in the past been the country that roared.  When anyone was in trouble, when innocents were being attacked, the US stepped forward to do her part in protecting the innocent party.  When the US roared, people listened.

On July 9, 2009, 5 students in Iran were hanged in public for protesting a crooked presidential election and Islamic rule.  The protests continue today, July 12, 2009. The people are chanting:Death to the turbans,” “Down with the dictator,” “We want democracy.”  (Dr. Phyllis Chesler has more)

Where is the roar of objection from the United States?

“President” Karzai of Afghanistan signed legislation that allows men there to starve their wives if they refuse to have sex with them. It’s an amendment to the law which gives husbands the right to force themselves on their wives if they’re not consenting.

More than 20 American Somalis have left the US, returned to Somali to join the jihad, three have lost their lives.  If they want to leave this country and die in Somalia, that's their choice.  What about the terror threat from Somalia to the rest of the world, and to those innocents within her borders? 

What about all those czars -- the latest John Holdren, Obama's Science Czar, says: Forced abortions and mass sterilization needed to save the planet.

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee asked, "Who is really running this country?  The President or the people?"  I don't think there is any question -- Obama gets what Obama wants with our present Congress and wimpy opposition party Republican RINOs. 

It's going to take all those arrogant Americans joining together to fight and defeat the tyranny consuming our nation before we find ourselves in the same situation.

Let's again be the country that roars when confronted with evil, not one that hides behind a president of questionable citizenship who's favorite activity is trash-talking America.

Yeah, no shit.  So, why tell Africa? Why not tell yourself?

    When I heard about the recent commentary in Newsweek that suggested that President Obama was more Catholic than the Pope was, I could not stop laughing long enough to post these thoughts precisely when I wanted them to appear. It took a day or two, or maybe three now before I calmed down sufficiently to deal with this latest progressive liberal (read that, asinine) outlook on reality. I could very easily have tossed this insanity into the same trashcan that bears that report that informs us that ninety-odd percent of the U.S.-manufactured guns involved within Mexico’s drug wars can be traced back to the U.S. For the same reason, I am quite willing to suggest that at least ninety percent of federal government paychecks can be traced back to the U.S. taxpayer.

    As I said, I wanted to get on with life. To worry about things more important than what progressives spout through their mouthpieces. Important topics such as university homework assignments, whether the first place Tigers will lose two in a row to a last place team again, and whether I have Brats or burgers for dinner. Regardless, as a Roman Catholic layperson I have a fundamental responsibility to protect my Church and, henceforth, I do not want to deal with such secular issues on the Holiest day of the week.

    For starters, I am more African-American than President Obama is Catholic (hint for you liberals: both sets of my grandparents were Polish). Regardless of where Mr. Obama spent his childhood schooling, being Catholic is an “is or isn’t” proposition. You can be Roman Catholic for ninety years of your life and once you abandon the Church’s teachings, then you cease being Roman Catholic. God’s laws do not incorporate any “independents” like within American politics. This is precisely why we have had the 265 Popes descended directly from Saint Peter. Every decent Catholic bible has these popes outlined for the entire world to see and my trusty New American Bible that I have had beside me since February, 1994 states neither a Pope Barack Obama I nor a Saint John Q. Public of America in the leadership of Christ’s Church here on Earth.

    For starters, I fully understand that progressive liberals tend to pick and choose their beliefs to suit some specific agenda. This tinkering of the human mind leads to some pretty confiscatory thoughts as “Pro-Choice Catholics” when the Church has always been defensive of the unborn. This is why Pope Benedict reamed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s ass whereas the good pontiff merely spoke pleasantries with the current President. I am quite certain that, had Obama been a member of the Catholic Church, then Pope Benedict would have sent the politician to Ghana waddling as if his thongs were ten sizes too junior.

    The fact is, a pope leads his Church; he does not merely preside over it. He holds the literal keys of the “kingdom of heaven” and thereby gauges whatever loose on earth will also be loose in heaven. [Matthew 16:19 NAB] Christ did not pick a mere “community organizer” on which to build His Church. He picked a rock. If President Obama were even a legitimate Christian, he would be speaking out in fervent protest against abortion, against homosexuality, against government control, and against illegal immigration. Notice, friends, that I did not say procurers of abortion, homosexuals, or illegal aliens.

    The truth is, President Obama is a politician and nothing more. Albeit a significantly opportunistic one, but his talents to lead are no stronger than either Madonna’s or Michael Jackson’s abilities to entertain. It is not what we are that counts, but who. In others words, our actions speak volumes compared with our thoughts. Unfortunately, this is where we get into trouble here within America.

    Some sources have the number of “Catholic” voters who cast their lot with President Obama as high as eighty-percent. That is not a very scientific estimate. I would counter and say that no true Catholic ever voted for President Obama. Some erstwhile pew-warmers may have voted for Obama because they were concerned about the economy, or the poor, or the war in Iraq, but these are simply topics that even Christ largely ignored (You know, the poor will always be with us, don’t fret about tomorrow, etc. etc.).

    Those Americans who voted for the President because they supported abortion rights, gay marriages, or euthanasia for that matter have long since forfeited their allegiance to either Christ or His Church. They have simply abandoned their oaths of baptism and confirmation. Americans do that from time to time – abandoned their personal responsibilities in exchange for temporal convenience. Hispanics, for one, are notorious for this.

    Tomorrow begins the week of confirmation hearings for what could possibly be the United States’ first Latino justice of the Supreme Court. Already, thousands of Hispanics within this country are calling for her to be confirmed. I have nothing against the woman herself, but her policies and actions are definitely anti-Latino. It is just another egregious example of an overwhelmingly Catholic culture abandoning its principles on a matter of race. And they call us white folk racist…

    Roman Catholicism is “universal” because it hands down the only non-discriminatory set of standards available from the only non-discriminatory being in existence: God. Each of us is free to gaze into our hearts and determine whether we wish to follow the Church’s teachings or not. Each of us can freely decide whether politics or Salvation is to be our guide. Each of us is given free rein by God to choose temporal convenience over the much more demanding structure of eternal harmony with the Blessed.

    In a culture where “American” has come to mean anyone who can sneak across the border without being caught, where “life” means any living species of value to the state’s agenda, and where personal responsibility is acquiesced to Washington on appeal, then I suspect  that being Roman Catholic does not mean very much.

    Fortunately, there are still a few of us devotees who remain. We carry on the spirit of those who were burned as ornamental torches within some ancient Roman governor’s courtyard. We still honor those who were fed alive to lions; hung, drawn, and quartered; or, if mercifully disposed by the emperor or king in question, simply beheaded for following the Church’s teachings. And folks, President Barack Hussein Obama isn’t even fit to loosen their sandals.

The Wrath of Kahn is about Khan's relentless pursuit of Captain James T. Kirk which ultimately results in his own death and the loss of his ship, while Ahab's relentless pursuit is of his nemesis the great white whale Moby Dick.

The story of Ahab and Kahn deal with the concepts of class and social status, good and evil, and the existence of God (or gods), personal beliefs, one's place or role in this world.  Which brings me to the United States of America in the year 2009.

Enter US President Barack Obama, who I believe has been on a relentless pursuit to change America;  a relentless pursuit to find the purpose of his own existence;  to find his godto discover his personal beliefs;  to find his place in this world. 

I believe that Obama has already discovered the role he is to play, the god he will worship, a purpose for his existence with the help of mentors like Rev.  Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers, and on and on.  He was like a ship without a rudder, born of a father who didn't want him, a mother who left him with his white grandparents, influenced from a young age by a writer named Frank Davis.  He was taught that Blacks had been, and still are, being discriminated against, and by virtue of his half-black ancestry he had been mistreated.  He was taught the world, America, was not a fair nation and it was his job to grow up and change that.

Captain Ahab:  "The white whale tasks me; he heaps me."  Moby Dick


You could change that a bit to Obama saying "The white, Christian, conservative, capitalistic, private business owning America tasks me, and I shall change it."

It is an evil voyage that Obama is taking the USA on, and if he continues to have his way, no American citizen will ever see America as we have known her again.

Obama gives his word that we will have transparency, yet all he and his administration does us under the table, working through groups like ACORN and their many branches.  All the czars that answer to no one but his majesty Obama.  When we complain, when we ask for honesty and fulfillment of his promises, what do we get?

Where is Obama's nemesis, who is the brave soul like Kirk who will defeat Obama in the political arena?  I look out over the universe, over the great land and waters of this great nation, who will stand up to this evil?  How cold does it have to get here in the US before we see some Conservative revenge?

Obama seems to be saying:  " ... from hell's heart, I stab at thee...for hate's sake, I spit my last breath...at thee..." -- Khan, Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan.  Yet as Americans against socialism, Marxism, communism, liberalism, and on and on, we do have recourse.

Liberation

There's something very liberating and frustrating at the same time about having a hard drive suddenly die, or having your computer croak completely.  Either way you start from scratch -- fresh, a clean slate, free of all the clutter you collected.  My new hard drive arrived via FedX yesterday, overnight service is really wonderful.  I spent most of the day yesterday installing my virus protection (Trend Micro Internet Security) and other programs I find necessary to daily computing -- Word, Micrografx Picture Publisher, Cannon camera software, Carbonite, iTunes, and a few other odds and ends. 

Outlook Express was empty, no folders, no contacts, and it looked good.  I've been having a great time with the "block message/sender" option today, getting rid of all those mailing lists I somehow got placed on without my knowledge.  Wooooo hooooo, checking email will be a breeze for a while.  I feel great!

I'm sure the Iranians would love to feel some liberation as well as many other people around the world.  Obama had time to visit Russia and Ghana to give another of his 'major speeches', saying "I do not see the countries and peoples of Africa as a world apart; I see Africa as a fundamental part of our interconnected world - as partners with America on behalf of the future that we want for all our children."  Too bad he couldn't have the same consideration for Iranian people, Georgians and the South Ossetians.

Obama has no problems meddling in Israeli affairs and completely destroying America, but sucking up to our enemies gives him a thrill.  Our foreign policy is a faux pas.  Abraham H. Miller writes:

The difference between radical Muslims and liberal American Jews is that the former seek to become martyrs, while the latter aspire to become victims. In an ironic twist of fate, radical Muslims and liberal American Jews were made for each other.

This ideological symbiosis is sufficient to give pause to the presence of intelligent design. But like all things that seem to emanate from a higher power, there is a paradoxical twist. It is not themselves that liberal American Jews want to sacrifice on the altar of victimhood; it is their Israeli brethren.

Barack Hussein Obama received nearly eighty percent of the Jewish vote and still garners strong approval among America’s Jews. In contrast, only six percent of Jewish Israelis support Obama.
Even before the election, Israeli Jews, unlike their sycophantic American brethren, saw through Obama.  Israelis were the least supportive population anywhere in the Western world of the inexperienced politician turned presidential candidate.  (continue at Pajamas Media)


I'm sure the Israelis would love to be liberated from their terrorist neighbors, able to live quiet peaceful lives.  Unlike my computer hard drive, wiped clean in an instant, liberation for suffering people around the world and here in the us is nowhere in sight.  Wouldn't it be wonderful to somehow with one keystroke call a special election, vote out Obama, the crazy Liberals, the RINOs in our own party and replace them with Conservatives.  I can dream can't I?

Friday, July 10, 2009 - South Korea announced today that the cyber attacks that targeted scores of South Korean and U.S. Web sites was designed to morph into a more dangerous direction at 12:00 GMT today. Even as the announcement was made, the malicious codes broke into tens of thousands of local personal computers and started wiping hard drives.

The Korea Communications Commission said more than 350 computers were reported damaged as of Friday, but warned that the number could quickly rise, since up to 50,000 have been contaminated by the latest wave of cyber attacks.

South Korea's Intelligence agency, the NIS, told lawmakers on Friday that the hackers responsible for the attacks used 86 IP addresses in 16 countries. The countries include South Korea, the United States, Japan, China, Turkey, and Guatemala. But the spy agency cautioned it was too early to conclude that North Korea was responsible as the investigations were still under way. Some analysts have questioned the North's involvement, saying it may be the work of industrial spies or pranksters.

The breach of US government websites including those tasked with securing America's IT networks should be a cause of concern for security professionals. Our vulnerability to even the most unsophisticated of malicious codes should be a wake-up call.

Gerard Group recommends that network administrators take immediate measures to harden their security defenses. Firewalls should be re-set to the highest security levels. Counter-viral systems should be updated and set to scan all incoming and outgoing email utilizing heuristic algorithms at high security settings.

    “I just saw Elvis!” Even decades after the death of the legendary singer, people still exclaim these same words with detailed accounts of their personal sighting of “The King.” I, along with most of the nation, mourned Presley’s death in 1977 but for me, like for most people, that day was the closing of the living story of Elvis, not the beginning of the secret life of the musician/actor.  When we look critically at the Elvis sighting phenomena of more than three decades, we can see a complex mental conditioning that allows certain people to come to a place where logic and reason are altered to a point where the next guy shuffling down the sidewalk in a pair of blue suede shoes could be “you know who”.

Whether or not people are driven to denounced the obvious death of Presley because they love his records or movies or any other variation thereof is moot; the point is that some people find themselves predisposed to deny factual evidence (e.g.: death certificate, accounts of people who handled the body, the funeral, the burying of the coffin). Instead, they cling to fantastic, non-realistic, evidence that Elvis still lives, which can be found in reported cryptic songs by Waylon Jennings, crazy theory books, movies, and, of course, the person on the street that swears that Elvis just pumped their gas and checked the oil on his or her car. On a more magnified level, for the Elvis seer of today, the direct evidence that the musician must be dead is replaced with the theoretical evidence that he could still be alive if a series of less probable possibilities were to fit together properly. Thus begins the mysterious stories of conspiracy theories and the other grand creations that tantalize many, but have no true factual substance. Don’t think for a moment that this is just an “Elvis thing.”

In the political sphere we see the same psychological reality building that created the immortal Elvis scenario being used by the modern liberal. Wrapped within radical leftist organizations, such as PETA, the man-made global warming crowd, or the tax-and-spend liberals that Barack Obama faithfully leads, we see the same framing of non-reality that has brought some Elvis admirers to seeing the equivalent of jumpsuits and capes that don’t really exist. The radicals at PETA ignore the fact that they exploit women to save chickens, and that their mission statement falls in diametric opposition to mainstream Christianity. The man-made global warming crowd disregards the direct evidence that their green initiatives will most certainly destroy the American economy and, of course, that the planet keeps getting cooler, in order to follow a socialistic game plan to “save the Earth.”

When it comes to Barack Obama and his tax-and-spend philosophy, it’s so expensive that even a scrap of logic left on the table causes major problems to the reality that is being spun. It’s true that many of these groups have cross-over affiliations but they are all searching for their own personal “Elvis” sighting. That is, they search for something that is unattainable, not real, and there are going to be a lot of disappointed people in the end.

As the curtain begins to close, we are faced with some facts that shake, rattle and roll many of us, but it is time we face the music. In reality, Elvis will always be the “The King” in the music industry, but on this Earth, he is as dead as dead can be. On the other hand, liberalism, in all its facets and faces, will always be a dead philosophy that we dare not allow to become “king.” I would say that the latter situation is painfully close to coming to fruition, and for that I have great concern for this country. Through years of mental conditioning, the liberal philosophy threatens to create a world where reality has truly left the building and our nation pre-destines itself for future anguish and woe far greater than the passing of the beloved Elvis Presley.

Everyone involved with the Flight 93 Memorial knows that the Crescent of Embrace points to Mecca

In 2007, Flight 93 Advisory Commission member Tim Baird told Alec Rawls (the author of these blogburst posts) that everyone at the meetings he attended is fully aware that the giant crescent, originally named the Crescent of Embrace, really does point almost exactly at Mecca. Professor Baird says they all just assume (himself included) that the Mecca orientation must be an innocent coincidence.

Pretty crazy, when they have also been told the meaning of a crescent that Muslims face into to face Mecca. Every mosque is built around a Mecca-direction indicator called a mihrab, and the classic mihrab is crescent shaped. Geometrically, the Crescent of Embrace is the world’s largest mihrab.

However honestly Project Partners believe that the Mecca orientation of the crescent must be a coincidence, this is not what they tell the public. When reporters asked Memorial Project Superintendent Joanne Hanley about the Mecca orientation, she denied it:

"The only thing that orients the memorial is the crash site," she said.

Thinking that the Mecca orientation of the crescent must be a coincidence in no way justifies lying to the public about this explosive information. If Baird’s account is accurate—that the dozens of Memorial Project Partners all know that the giant crescent actually does point to Mecca—then the Memorial Project has a lot of explaining to do. Now an overlooked article from 2007 corroborates Professor Baird’s information.


Dr. Glenn Kashurba

It turns out that a Pennsylvania psychiatrist who has been intimately involved with the memorialization of Flight 93 (writing two books on the subject) argued to a reporter before the July 2007 Memorial Project meeting that the Mecca-orientation of the giant crescent (which he took as a given) should be seen as coincidental:

“When you calculate angles to Mecca - I'm going to be in Washington, D.C., this week, and I'm sure if I calculate angles of the monuments, at least one points to Mecca,” Kashurba said. “I don't know if it will be the White House or the Lincoln Memorial, but at least one will. People looking for a way to support their way of looking at things will look at this in this way for ever and ever.”

If Dr. Kashurba was getting his information from the Memorial Project’s public statements, he would have denied that the crescent points to Mecca. Here is what Memorial Project Partner Patrick White told the press 9 days before the Kashurba story:

Rawls, of Palo Alto, Calif., contends that the centerpiece of the design points toward Mecca.

Rawls’ claims are untrue and “preposterous,” according to Patrick White, Families of Flight 93 vice president. “We went through in detail all his original claims and came away with nothing.”

Kashurba knew better, as did Patrick White himself. The week after his public denial, a local woman asked White how he could be okay with the Mecca orientation of the giant crescent. This time White did not deny the Mecca orientation, but argued that it cannot be seen as honoring Islam because the inexactness of the Mecca orientation would be "disrespectful" to Islam. xs9adzwi2c

U.S. Targets have been identified as; The US Treasury Department, Secret Service, Federal Trade Commission and Transportation Department, the National Security Agency, Homeland Security Department, State Department, the Nasdaq stock market and The Washington Post. Also targeted are the White House, the Pentagon and the New York Stock Exchange.

Amy Kudwa, spokeswoman for the Homeland Security Department, said the agency's U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team issued a notice to federal departments and other partner organizations about the problems and "advised them of steps to take to help mitigate against such attacks."

South Korean intelligence officials believe the attacks were carried out by North Korean or pro-Pyongyang forces. U.S. officials so far have refused to publicly discuss details of the attack or where it might have originated.

The unprecedented scope of the attack illustrates the fact that we as a nation remain under-protected and vulnerable to Cyber warfare. It also confirms the urgent need for new cyber-security measures to be adopted on the National, Municipal, and Corporate level.

Love her or hate her -- you are talking about her

As has been stated before, the conventional wisdom in Washington is if you have bad news you bury it by announcing it late on Friday afternoon.   Nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to Sarah Palin.  She announced that she was resigning her position as Governor of Alaska and media on both sides of the isle can't stop talking about her.  One must ask why?    Why is she so hated, feared, loved???  

During the last presidential elections, Sarah Palin said many things that most of us knew to be true, and many have since proven to be true, like Barack Obama paling around with terrorists.  Just being a private citizen, like that's a bad thing, Sarah Palin can truly speak her mind and share her beliefs, beliefs that so many American citizens also share.

According to a Gallup Poll Americans, by a 2-to-1 margin, say their political views in recent years have become more conservative rather than more liberal.  You can't say that about our present elected officials, but it is true of private citizens.

I do not believe that Sarah Palin is leaving politics forever [see my predictions below].  Just look at the words she used in her announcement ... "I WILL,  ...STAND FOR... FIGHT FOR...  CONTINUE TO...  SPEAK OUT..."  Also look at the reasons for resigning vs reasons to stay on, and it is obvious she has done the right thing for her family, her future, Alaska's future and the future of America.  She is putting Alaska first, leaving her position of Governor which brought with it endless frivolous lawsuits draining both Alaska and the Palin family financially.  Jay Valentine says:
 

The fight is between an out of control government led by media and government elites and common sense Americans, of both parties, who have had enough.  Sarah Palin is in the enviable, although personally painful position, of being the "anti elite" voice of common sense and shared American values.

What an irony if the only American President who can make a 3 point shot were taken out by a point guard who came up to his shoulder.  And if the guard was a chick -- who went to a no name school?

After reading J.R. Dunn's thoughts on Sarah Palin and the utterly retarded and useless Republican Party (see below), I predict that the country may be ripe for a third party -- a true Conservative party -- and Sarah Palin will be leading the charge.  Either that, or she will bust the old rank and file of the GOP wide open, shake that useless tree free of all the dead wood and set it back on the right direction.

She will be back. Not for 2012. The GOP has its plans already worked out. Very clever ones, too. The Republicans will do what they always do when they're up against it: grab an empty suit and run around shaking it in people's faces while shouting, "Here's the man!" By 2012, after his policies really hit home, as gas and home fuel prices triple and quadruple, as medical rationing begins, as the renewed Axis of Evil runs wild across Eurasia, Obama will be ready to drop. At that point he could be defeated by a ticket consisting of Charley Manson and Jojo the Dogface Boy. But the GOP will blow it all the same. Exactly as the party did in '96, following the same script to the letter. They will, to coin a phrase, Mitt it up.

That moment will mark the start of a new phase for Sarah Palin. The exquisite branch of conservatism will drift away, assuring each other that "It's still possible to live well in a dying civilization." The GOP operatives will, as always, be blaming the "legacy of Reagan" and looking for a RINO who can somehow fool the backwoods rubes. Obama will spend his entire second term racing back and forth trying to put out forest fires using buckets with holes in them. Palin's enemies will have destroyed themselves, and her moment will come at last.  (continue)


All the Palin bashing from the Left and even some from the RINOs in the Right, may be helping Palin rather than hurting her.  Conservatives are the true feminists, and Sarah Palin is the leader.  Sarah Palin doesn't need more than twenty attendants costing tax payers hundreds of thousands of dollars like Michelle Obama has, she cooks her own meals, washes her own clothes, takes care of her own family, hunts, shoots, fishes, attends church regularly, she loves her husband and he loves her, she can lead a town as mayor, a state as governor, or a country as president ...  That is a feminist in the true Conservative sense.  That's a feminist that men love, women respect, and children can look up to.

I understand Palin will give an interview to Fox News today and I look forward to hearing what she has to say, just as I look forward to following her plans for the next several years.

Al Franken, Chickenhawk

I used to love Franken on Saturday Night Live. Although his Stuart Smally character got old very quickly, he did a wonderful Paul Tsongas impression. I’d link to an example on YouTube, but NBC takes its intellectual property very seriously and therefore hundreds of the most humorous bits ever to air on late night television have been tragically withheld from us.

I enjoyed his 2003 book Lies (And the Lying Liars Who Tell Them): A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right. Well, I enjoyed the first half, much of which was a trenchant critique of modern, Fox-style conservatism. Some of the worst distortions of the Bush-era right were properly put in their place. The second half was just left-liberal boilerplate.

But this is what has always stuck in my mind about Franken’s book. It includes an illustrated chapter called “Operation Chickenhawk: Episode One” in which he characterizes many modern war advocates as hypocrites for their effortless success in dodging “service” in Vietnam. The chapter discusses such prominent hawks as George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Bill O’Reilly, and Bill Bennett. But one big problem with this humorous chapter is it includes Pat Buchanan, who, although we might all agree holds many bad positions, including on the Cold War, did not support the Iraq War. But do you know who did? Al Franken.

In chapter 41 of Liars, Franken discusses how he was among the many deceived about the war, convinced by Bush of its necessity because, after all, “the world changed” on 9/11, and the U.S. government needed to deal with Saddam’s infamous Weapons of Mass Destruction. Franken cites the uranium-from-Niger lie as the piece of evidence that clinched it for him. When it became politically correct to point out that Bush had lied the country into war, Franken felt so betrayed.

But actually, that uranium lie was discredited before the war even began. Given that he had so many researchers helping him with his book, he should have known that.

Besides, even if he did believe every single piece of propaganda about Saddam’s non-existent weapons program—and here, by the way, is my Independent Institute article from before the war, explaining why we could not trust the propaganda and why the case for war was so transparently without credibility—he should have still opposed the war. There was never any justifiable reason to support Bush’s plan to wage aggressive war on the people of Iraq, to murder many thousands of them, even if you believed Saddam had Weapons of Mass Destruction. It is an act of aggression to start a war, even if the enemy has scary weapons. The U.S. has a weapons stockpile that makes all the Middle East countries combined—even including Israel—seem minor in comparison. But that sure didn’t justify 9/11, did it?

Al Franken is a warmonger who turned against Bush only after it became politically correct to do so, and only turned against the war to score partisan points. He is, in principle, no less committed to U.S. imperialism and mass killing than are the neocons, even if his rhetoric isn’t nearly as offensively bloodthirsty as theirs is. In fact, his book also reveres Lincoln, one of the greatest warmongers in U.S. history.

This is all you need to know about the Franken left: They aren’t quite as crazy as the neocon right when they discuss foreign policy, but they are every bit as devoted to U.S. empire and aggressive war. And Iraq, even given Bush’s propaganda, was still, by any measure, an aggressive war, and it still is an aggressive occupation.

Am I being too harsh? I’d be happy to see Franken prove me wrong. Next chance he gets, he can refuse to finance Obama’s bloody exploits in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. He can stand by principle and resist the urge to vote with the hordes to continue to appropriate our tax dollars to slaughter abroad. If he turns out to be a consistent critic of the Obama administration on questions of war and peace, I will apologize and praise his principle to the skies. But if he does vote to continue sending Americans to die and kill, he is no better than the lying liars he has made a fortune criticizing. He is no better than the chickenhawks he lambastes, and certainly not nearly as good an opponent of jingoism and aggressive war as the much more thoughtful, if sometimes inconsistent, Pat Buchanan.

We are what we do

The truth is, people notice what we actually do rather than what we say, "actions speak louder than words."  Star Parker writes "When color trumps Christianity", directed at Black Christians.  She points out that Obama equated the homosexual political movement to the black civil rights movement saying,  "Obama sees the black community as being a little slow on the uptake to grasp that homosexuality and same sex marriage are okay. There still are those, according to him, "who don't yet fully embrace their gay brothers and sisters..."

President Obama hosted a reception at the White House celebrating LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) Pride month Black Christians should take note and learn a few things about our black President.

As they say, we are what we do.

It tells us something that Mr. Obama had no time to host an event for the National Day of Prayer.

Nor did he have time to accept the invitation to convey greetings and a few remarks to the couple hundred thousand who came to Washington, as they do every January, for the March for Life.  (continue reading)

Indeed we are watching United States President Barack Obama, watching what he says and what he does.  He seemed to have plenty time for Muslim events, yet no time for Christian events. 

He claims to be a strong Christian, yet can can't seem to find a church that he and Michelle can comfortably join.  He had no problem staying in Rev. Jeremiah Wright's church year after year.  Yes, you are what you do Obama, and your actions are loud and clear.

Obama and Michelle snubbed French President Nicolas Sarkozy and wife while in France, refusing a dinner invitation.  Obama had no problem bowing down to Saudi King Abdullah, yet he displayed the souls of his shoes (an insulting action) to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Obama has a record of being for live-birth abortions and all abortions -- heaven forbid anyone should be burdened with a baby -- Obama's words not mine.  But no concern for Iranian women and men being shot in the streets of Iran as they protest rigged elections and pray for freedom and democracy.  I guess it's no burden for Iranian women to be arrested, beaten, killed -- or for Israeli women and children to have missiles shot at their homes from Gaza.

Obama is buddies with dictators, but tells Americans he doesn't want to take over private business, as he does just that.  He's for free and open elections [yet ACORN seems to have helped get him elected and are now doing our census, which will affect upcoming elections].  Words and actions ...

I could go on and on, but you get the idea.  There was a time when our word was our bond, but that certainly does not go for politicians these days.  No we don't listen to their words any more,  we watch their actions.  Anyone planning to run for office in 2010 and 2012 needs to take need -- You are what you do and I've got my eye on you!

Pride, or lack thereof...

On July 4, 2009, America's Independence Day, hubby and I were on our way to a big celebration where his band was the entertainment, when we heard the news that Steve McNair had been found shot in Nashville Tennessee in an apparent murders suicide.  We live in Tennessee and are Titans fans.  I always thought of McNair as a good man, a faithful husband to his wife of 12 years Mechelle and loving father to his four children.  Apparently McNair had a 4 month affair with 20 year old Iranian Sahel Kazemi, after meeting her at Dave & Busters in Nashville where she worked as a waitress.  Story and pictures here, here.  Kazemi's sister said McNair told her he would be divorced in two weeks and she thought they would move in together permanently.  This might be news to Mrs. McNair.

Do people no longer have pride in themselves, in their relationships, in agreements that they make?  When people get famous and rich, do they no longer think their word is their bond?  We seem to be living in a time when so many people thing they are entitled to get and do anything they want without taking responsibility.

People buy houses, sign loan contracts, with full knowledge that they do not have the income to actually repay the loan.  Then they expect the government, a/k/a you and me, to bail them out.  Businesses make bad loans, congress makes it possible for the bad loans to be made, no one takes responsibility, and the rest of us who do take pride in ourselves, who think our word is our bond, end up paying for their bad judgment.
Society pays for the bad judgment of individuals.

People don't have insurance, don't have jobs, don't have food, don't have shelter, don't provide for their families, but expect somebody else to take care of it for them.  Some think they can cheat, lie, steal, and it's OK, because it's them.

Yesterday was America's Independence Day and it may have been Mrs. McNair's independence day also.  We have no idea what McNair put her through during their marriage. The lesson here is that payday comes someday, you can't go on forever thinking you are special and can do whatever you want,  that no one will find out, that no one will be hurt -- because that's not true.

Our government has promised to be all things to all people, trust us they say, we know what's best for you -- government knows what vehicles you should drive, what kind of house you should live in, what kind of energy you can use, what you must do to your own house before you can sell it, what medical treatment you can and can't have ...

We as Conservative Americans, and even some on the Left, know this is wrong.  We know that personal pride in personal accomplishment, in taking care of our own, in creating, producing, inventing, giving our word and keeping it, are everything.  We want that back for our nation.  We want that back for our politicians, for our government, for our children.

 The enunciation of those core rights — “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” — was an almost staggering statement in 1776, when most of the world labored under the rule of despots.

...  Our representative democracy, coupled with the enormous freedoms of our daily lives, seem so natural, as if preordained.  The result of this unthinking acceptance of these rights is that many of us are not even grateful for the blessings they confer, viewing the rights more as burdens, than benefits.

Why do I say this last?  Because more and more people resent the fact that one has to work for the basic freedoms the Founders risked their lives to institute.  Sometimes one has to fight and die for them.

I'm sick of people thinking they are special because they are politicians, or sports heroes, or just your run-of-the-mill person in America who thinks you are different, you are special, you don't have to abide by rules and morals, and that you deserve special treatment.  Take pride in who you are, in what you stand for, in what you promise whether it is to an institution or to your spouse.

    As a nation rapidly losing its heritage through ever enlarging federal entitlement programs, I have spawned mixed emotions regarding celebrating our Independence Day holiday this year. On the one hand, I am extremely proud of everything that my country has achieved over the past 233 years. Did ancient Egypt teach men to fly? Did ancient Rome land upon the moon? Did Muhammad invent rock and roll? Of course, there’s always the “other hand” to such arguments. Would our founding fathers have anticipated the size and intrusiveness of our present government? Would Patrick Henry accept a commander-in-chief who berates his own nation at every turn? Would the inventors of the Boston Tea Party have believed that over two hundred years into the future there would still be a need to address tax grievances in America?

    Make no mistake about it; our founding fathers did not imagine for a moment that their miniscule nation would survive two centuries into the future. They were realists, not idealists. What inspired them to throw caution into the wind and risk everything was not that their new country was the panacea for human rights, but that their concept of a free and responsible individual was. This was unheard of at the time. For thousands of years, civilization had been patterned on the concept that the few ruled the many.  There were kings and reagents, administrators and emperors, but few outside the social elite had a prayer of a chance to impart change. In England, even the lords could not address the crown without bowing their way backwards out of his or her presence.

    Our founders saw things differently. They were driven to extremes as evident by the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”


    In our modern, politically correct environment, it is considered sacrilege to use the term founding “fathers” but it is obvious that they possessed balls nevertheless. These tiny thirteen countries willingly signed their own death warrant. They told the most powerful and, arguably, most unstable monarch in the world that people were the foundation that any government rested upon and to add salt to an opening wound, any one person was equal to that very same monarch and possessed the very same rights, freedoms, and opportunities. Think about it. I doubt very much that you can.

    In 2009, we are afraid to say that while singer Michael Jackson may have had extraordinary musical talent, he was by no means a “king” (of pop or otherwise) and was probably just as disturbed (if not more so) than George III. Nearing the conclusion of the first decade of the 21st century, our media – ascribed to uphold our best interests by way of journalistic tradition – is afraid to acknowledge that President Barack Obama is by no means either a king or a messiah. That he is simply a man deriving his “powers from the consent of the governed”.

    This is precisely why my soul remains heavy and sad during this particular period within our history. I feel that we have come to celebrate “Independence Day” less than we celebrate the “Fourth of July”. We have diluted the day as much as we have collectively diluted Christmas into mere “Holidays”. By doing so, we gravely misjudge the reasoning and purpose behind both. Men are to be free and governed, not ruled and subjugated. Our national leadership is supposed to listen to our voices, not act upon their preferences within secretive sessions, late night votes, and subliminal agendas.

    Our “coordinator in chief”, as C4ISR Journal refers to the president, is but a man – an employee of “We the People” – and his fundamental responsibility is to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Not even a year into office and he has already trash talked his nation, commandeered the auto, banking, and student loan industries, and is on the verge of enforcing national healthcare. King George had less control over the colonists. King Philip of Spain conquered an entire hemisphere merely by controlling the mercury used to refine gold – the rest of New World exploration was left to opportunists, explorers, merchants, and malcontents, the kind of people that felt quite at home developing a new nation of individuals.

    Sovereignty has been sucked from our populace. We are no longer a people reared on the responsibilities and opportunities of the individual. We have simply become incapable of effort. I remember my own father praising the merits of Franklin Roosevelt’s Social Security program: “He made it so that I would no longer have to work!” I knew what my father meant; after working his life away in hot, filthy, automotive forging plants, when both emphysema and a mangled foot made it difficult to continue on, he was able to “retire”. I seriously doubt, however, that President Roosevelt expected my father to be retired for decades. Then again, what could you expect from someone who thought that he deserved to be president for at least sixteen years?

    Our culture ceased being independent when those amongst us considered Social Security to be “their money”, when new college graduates mandated that the federal government do something to “guarantee” them employment, and when those who have made piss-poor decisions demanded that the rest of us absolve them of all responsibilities for their indiscretions. Things became terminal when our elected officials made it a crime to challenge the unrepentant, to seek out individuality, and, most of all, to consider that inalienable rights came as a gift from God and not legislated as privileges by those currently in power.

    Therefore, I wish to extend to all, a very happy and enjoyable Fourth of July. Have fun at your weekend barbecues, your sporting events, and watching your multitude of fireworks displays. Remember, always, to do precisely what your government tells you to do. Listen obediently to your president, your Congress, and your Senate. Do exactly as they tell you to do. Normally, I would extend congratulations on experiencing another Independence Day but, frankly, I do not think that you possess the necessary balls to be an American…

Sarah Palin: Crazy like a fox!

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has resigned her position and most of the immediate comments are very negative.  I have a very different take -- I believe this is a stroke of genius on Palin's part.  She is saving Alaska from the constant trashing from the Left, from the continuous frivolous lawsuits and the cost of defending them.  Her comments were from the heart, not scripted and certainly not from a teleprompter.  Palin can use this time to travel, educate herself and improve her shortcomings, write a book, spend time with her family, travel across this great nation and re-introduce herself to Americans.

SarahPalin1 I could always be wrong and her enemies could be right.  Some suggest there may be illness in the family; or trouble with Sarah and Todd; or some deep dark secret yet uncovered... Anything is possible but remember, Sarah Palin is a candidate like we have never seen before.  She is real.

She emphasized today what she believes in:  Conservatism; capitalism; freedom; security; military; small government; low taxes; ...

Mitt Romney and the other rejects from 2008 elections -- LOOK OUT!

Dissent isn't hate!

Jon Voight gave the best speech I've heard lately, it put the Republican politicians to shame.  Now he is being accused of hate speech, threatening the President Barack Jon-voight_l Obama, and home-grown terrorism.  The accusations come from the likes of the Communist Party, People’s Weekly World, a magazine once known as the “Daily Worker” and sympathetic to the Communist Party,  Paul Krugman, and Frank Rich  Among other things, Voight called Obama a “false prophet” and “we and we alone are the right frame of mind to free this nation from this Obama oppression.” 

Mr. Voight's words brought criticisms from the New York Times, activists and bloggers. But they particularly troubled Teresa Albano, editor of the People's Weekly World -- a Chicago-based publication sympathetic to the Communist Party.

"I don't want to equate what Jon Voight said as expressing a conservative opinion on politics. It went way beyond that. He made a threat against the president of the United States to a crowd at a GOP fundraiser and got a good response from the Senate minority leader and other powerful people. And that is scary," Ms. Albano, editor of the publication, said at the time.

An editorial also said his speech was a form of "home-grown terrorism."

Not to worry though, Jon Voight isn't skulking away, he denied both charges, saying that those who speak out against the Obama administration are "demonized" and "attacked," often with hate speech.  In my book, John Voight is a breath of fresh air and I look forward to hearing him speak again soon.

Mr. Rich observed: “This kind of rhetoric, with its pseudo-scriptural call to action, is toxic.”   (Washington Times)


I suppose Rich has forgotten about all the Liberals in Hollywood who miss no opportunity to bash George W. Bush.

WINDOW INTO FATE OF WOUNDED AND ARRESTED IN ISLAMIC IRAN

Beaten up Afshin, a shopkeeper from south-west Iran, alleges that one of his male friends was beaten and repeatedly raped after being arrested at an opposition rally after last month's disputed election. He gave this account to Esfandiar Poorgiv, a journalist and academic.

He came to my shop around 10.30am. You could tell straight away that he had just been released. His face was bruised all over. His teeth were broken and he could hardly open his eyes.

He was not even into politics. He was just an ordinary 18-year-old in the last year of school. Before the election he came to me and asked how he should vote. He looks up to me. His father is an Ahmadinejad supporter.

He had gone home directly after his release, but his father did not let him in. He didn't mention he had been raped. At first, he didn't tell me either. It was the doctor who first noticed it and told me.

When he came to my shop he collapsed in a chair. He said he had nowhere to go and asked if he could stay with me. I called a friend of mine who is a doctor to come home and see him. Then I brought him home.

His shoulder blades and arms were wounded. There were some slashes on the face. No bone fractures, but he was bruised all over the body. I wanted to take some photos but he did not let me. The doctor said only four of his teeth were intact, the rest were broken. You could hardly understand what he said.

Then the doctor told me what had happened. He had suffered rupture of the rectum and the doctor feared colonic bleeding. He suggested we take him to the hospital immediately.

They registered him under a false name and with somebody else's insurance. The nurses were crying. Two of them asked what sort of beast had beaten him up like that. He was a broken man. He told us not to waste our money on him, and that he would kill himself.

He was arrested in Shiraz on 15 June, the Monday after the election. Some sturdy young men made a human shield around the demonstrators. He was among them. He said he managed to hit some of the anti-riot police. But then they caught him and beat him up.

"I was kept in a van till evening that day and then transferred to a solitary cell where I was kept for two days," he said. "Then I was repeatedly interrogated, beaten and hung from a ceiling. They call it chicken kebab. They tie your hands and feet together and hang you from the ceiling, turning you around and beating you with cables.

"They gave us warm water to drink and one meal a day. Repeated smacking was a regular punishment. In interrogations, they kept on asking if I was instructed from abroad. I believed I was going to be sent from the detention centre to prison. But they sent me to where they called Roughnecks' Room. There were some other youths of my age in there. I asked a guard why I am not sent to prison and the reply was: 'You have to be our guest for a while.'

"I refused to confess during interrogations. They said: 'Ask your friends what we'll do to you if you don't co-operate.' Others in the room were also arrested on 15 June. I was tempted to confess at this point but I didn't. On the third and fourth day, they beat me up again. They insisted we were instructed from abroad. I kept on saying we were only protesting for our votes.

"It was on Saturday or Sunday that they raped me for the first time. There were three or four huge guys we had not seen before. They came to me and tore my clothes. I tried to resist but two of them laid me on the floor and the third did it. It was done in front of four other detainees.

"My cell mates, especially the older one, tried to console me. They said nobody loses his dignity through such an act. They did it to two other cell mates in the next days. Then it became a routine. We were so weak and beaten up that could not do anything.

"Then the interrogations started again. They said: 'If you don't come to your senses we will send you to Adel Abad [another prison in Shiraz] to the pederasts' section so that you receive such treatment every day.' I was so weak I did not know what to say. Then they asked for my contacts. I told them I had no contacts and I was informed about the demonstrations through the internet.

"The same routine was continued till this morning when I was released. In the last week, there was no interrogation, no beating. Only rape and solitary confinement."

This is what he recounted. But he couldn't articulate quite like this. He was in much physical and mental pain as he talked. I asked him to tell his story in the hope of making a difference to those still detained.

Our government is broke, worse than broke, in huge and growing debt, families are cutting back, trying to balance their budgets, keep their bills paid, honor their commitments, while Obama is spending money like there's no tomorrow.

"Volunteers" are getting paid by you, the taxpayer, to 'work' in positions they have no idea what they are doing, ... other than getting a paycheck.  I visited my family doctor last week as a follow-up from my fall three weeks ago.  The ribs and bones in my lower lumbar back are healing and I do feel much better. 

When I walked into the office I saw a young man with a stethoscope around his neck.  I thought I recognized him but couldn't place him at first ... then realized he works the door at our local bar and grill accepting the cover charge from patrons.  When I inquired as to what he was doing in the doctor's office, he informed me he was 'working' and getting paid by Obama.  He was not working as he had no knowledge of anything medical, he is actually planning on attending engineering school this fall.  It's awfully nice of Obama to pay him money this summer, what a guy.

Not just another pretty face...

  Hedy Lamarr wasn't just a beautiful movie star. According to a new play, Frequency Hopping, she was also a shrewd inventor who devised a signal technology that millions of people use every day.

Lamarr—born Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler in Austria in 1914—developed a passion for helping the U.S. military after walking away from an unhappy marriage to an Austrian Fascist weapons manufacturer in 1937. In an attempt to stall her acting career, he had brought her to his business meetings, where she found herself continuously listening to "fat bastards argue antiaircraft this, vacuum tube that," explains Lamarr's character—played by Erica Newhouse—in the play, Frequency Hopping. In the meetings, they had talked about developing detection devices to listen to, and jam, the radio signals that American aircraft and weapons used to communicate with one another; and Lamarr wanted to foil their plans. "Can you guide your torpedo towards an enemy target—or just use radio control period—without being detected? Or jammed?" Lamarr's character asks. 

Lamarr realized that by transmitting radio signals along rapidly changing, or "hopping," frequencies, American radio-guided weapons would be far more resilient to detection and jamming. The sequence of frequencies would be known by both the transmitter and receiver ahead of time, but to the German detectors their message would seem like gibberish. "No jammer could detect it, no German code-breaker could decipher a completely random code," she says in the play.  (continue at Scientific American)

    Every revolution has, at its heart, a tripwire that might seem inconsequential to the events that will ultimately transpire on its merits. No one could adequately understand, for instance, the death and destruction that resulted from the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. Nor would anyone believe that the protests currently expressed in Iran have anything to do with the failure of a single political candidate. Yet, each of the above events will forever be linked to the initiator regardless of the underlying stress on the respective culture that ultimately caused the crisis.

    America, in the midst of 2009, is riding atop another bubble of societal dissatisfaction, aided in no small part to the grandiose promises of an anointed opportunist. President Barack Obama’s ascendance from political obscurity had less to do with his promises of extraordinary change than the growing resentment of a society on the verge of chucking out its national leadership en masse. President Obama did not win, the ruling class merely lost.

    The United States has always been a boiling stew led by the froth of turmoil. The more that our national leadership becomes corrupt, the more the underlying recipe becomes putrid and indigestible. Like a hardening crust on an otherwise magnificent soufflé, our nation has unwittingly elected the worst possible government during a period of great economic expectation. With the likes of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and now, apparently, Al Franken at the helm, the pot is primed to boil over. Perhaps even detonated.

    As our culture of death, entitlement, government control, and rampant spending festers, the final spark for revolution may be quite unobservable to the untrained eye but it exists nevertheless. For the past one hundred years, Americans have quietly endured the erosion of personal liberties and economic success. We have endured these transgressions because natural evolution of our economy always kept pace with the overindulgence of our national leadership. Unfortunately, however, our present government has exceeded this equilibrium to unsustainable levels.

    With the ‘Guerrilla Government’ takeover of the banking, auto, energy, and, soon, heath industries, the average American will come to realize what large segments of the global population had already learned long ago: government programs invariably fail. It is the private individual who inspires evolution, not bureaucracy.

    What has kept America safe and secure for two hundred and thirty-odd years has been that we remain – and will continue to remain – an armed population. This silent undertow has propelled the United States as the world’s vanguard against tyranny and it is this reality that will keep the country safe and secure from those who have repeatedly overstepped their Constitutional boundaries. With the election of Barack Obama, this safeguard has been accelerating at a phenomenal rate as thousands of men and women assail their local gun shops to purchase firearms and ammunition in historical quantities.

    With 300+ million firearms already in America before President Obama’s election, it would not have taken a large change to drastically tip the balance beyond even Hitler-esque confiscation. The fear on the street is that President Obama understands that messing with firearm ownership would be political suicide so he will have to resort to taxing ammunition to effect his progressive anti-gun legislation. This too, however, can be considered political suicide for many of his votes came from otherwise gun-toting Democrats.

    Every significant culture has gone through both a civil war and suffered under the prospects of a tyranny. America had endured a bloody Civil War, but it had never experienced allegiance to a tyrant since its founding. We have fought them and most of us know to prefer freedom to government, but a direct tyranny is something that we have never witnessed while under our flag. Until now…

    With each takeover of a capital enterprise, those presently infesting our government take an oath of treason. With each new tax raised upon us citizens, their allegiance to George III of old is reaffirmed. Their desire is for absolute government control of our lives without due representation and their insistence upon taxing us into oblivion is merely the energy source for the coming revolution. It is not the blasting cap for change, however. That comes when President Obama and his dominant progressive legislation acts on imposing further gun laws upon a skeptical populace.

    Progressives understand this. They want this. They want to tip America into full-scale revolt. This is what treason is – destroying the very fabric of a society for personal gain. Nowhere is this more evident than through a brief rummage of history’s refuse pile. The progressives in Washington have convinced you that they need to spend trillions to jumpstart an otherwise cyclic economy. They have convinced you that businesses, corrupt as they are, are simply “too big to fail”. The more that the progressives find excuses for their extravagances, the more they will try to convince you that the “crisis” in question mandates another trillion or, at a minimum, another czar. Leave it to our government to equate itself with a failed monarchy.

    The Great Progressive Spin Machine, riding on the current of post-Clinton gun control defeats, is now salivating over the neighboring crisis in Mexico as their prime opportunity to enact restrictive measures on law-abiding patriots. Our Constitution guarantees that each of us is permitted to keep and bear firearms (including ammunition) for self-protection, subsistence, and entertainment, yet over the past one hundred years we have allowed them to subjugate these very rights under the guise of “reasonable” gun laws. The problem is, there is NO reasonable interpretation of the Constitution that sacrifices an inalienable right in the process.

    We the people of the United States remain more powerful than the President, the Congress, and the Supreme Court combined. They are our limbs, not our brains. They represent our servants, not we their slaves. Police and federal agencies are bound by the Constitution. We are empowered by it. The stresses underlying our society are sufficiently powerful enough to topple one or more political parties and, quite possibly, the very nature of our Washington leadership. We are resilient and permissive, but the cracks enforced by the Obama Administration’s unconstitutional threats upon our culture have laid the foundation for serious change beyond even that envisioned by his campaign promises. Gun ownership may very well represent the tripwire that detonates society’s “claymore” of wholesale activism. It may represent that final line in the sand that distinguishes citizens from inhabitants.

Congress impatient with Obama on Iran, North Korea

Good.


Some members of Congress, increasingly impatient with the Obama administration's "give diplomacy a chance" stance toward Iran and North Korea, are pressing for new punitive measures against those countries.

This week the House Appropriations Committee attached an amendment to the 2010 foreign operations appropriations bill that would direct the Export-Import Bank to cut off US loan guarantees to certain companies doing business with Iran, particularly in the petroleum sector.

On Wednesday, Sen. Sam Brownback (R) of Kansas called on the Obama administration to use measures included in the Patriot Act to designate North Korea a "primary concern" of the US over its money-laundering networks. That would authorize the Treasury Department to take steps on the issue.

The two measures follow several months in which congressional attempts to sanction the regimes stalled as the Obama administration argued for time to see if international diplomacy would produce any results. The overriding concern in both cases is the regimes' nuclear programs.

But Iran's recent crackdown on protesters disputing the June 12 presidential election has galvanized many in Congress, especially Republicans critical of President Obama's initial response to the Iranian repression. North Korea's unabated belligerence in the wake of toughened UN sanctions – in particular Pyongyang's threat to launch a missile toward Hawaii – has had a similar effect.  (continue Christian Science Monitor)

The Nation -- The Obama administration is rushing towards a unilateral plan to imprison people without trial, according to a huge, new joint article from the Washington Post and ProPublica. The proposal would completely cut Congress out of the process by using an executive order to essentially bring Gitmo stateside:

The Obama administration, fearing a battle with Congress that could stall plans to close the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, is drafting an executive order that would reassert presidential authority to incarcerate terrorism suspects indefinitely, according to three senior government officials with knowledge of White House deliberations. Such an order would embrace claims by former president George W. Bush  that certain people can be detained without trial for long periods under the laws of war. Obama advisers are concerned that bypassing Congress could place the president on weaker footing before the courts and anger key supporters, the officials said.  (continue)

One day after President Obama declared that the United States and other countries were "appalled and outraged by the threats, beatings and imprisonments of the last few days" in Iran, the Iranian American Lawyers Association called for the creation of an independent commission to investigate human rights violations in the tumultuous aftermath of the June 12 election.

In a resolution announced on June 24, the association condemned the recent violence against peaceful protesters and the Iranian government's suppression of information through its arrest of journalists and interference with the public's use of satellite television, cell phones and the Internet.  (continue at law.com)

A top FBI official met Wednesday with the vice president of the Islamic Society of North America, a move which followed the Bureau's decision "to use ISNA as their official point of contact with the American Muslim community," an email from an intelligence community veteran that was widely distributed Wednesday said.

The FBI has not yet commented on the claim. But the IPT has confirmed that the meeting did take place at FBI headquarters. The decision to make ISNA the FBI's contact point came over the objections of case agents and supervisors investigating Muslim Brotherhood activity in the U.S.

Last year, the FBI cut off outreach communication with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), after evidence in the Hamas-support trial against the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF) raised questions "whether there continues to be a connection between CAIR or its executives and HAMAS." Had Americans been able to stop obsessing over the color of Barack Obama's skin and instead paid more attention to his cultural identity, maybe he would not be in the White House today. The key to understanding him lies with his identification with his father, and his adoption of a cultural and political mindset rooted in postcolonial Africa.

Like many educated intellectuals in postcolonial Africa, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. was enraged at the transformation of his native land by its colonial conqueror. But instead of embracing the traditional values of his own tribal cultural past, he embraced an imported Western ideology, Marxism. I call such frustrated and angry modern Africans who embrace various foreign "isms", instead of looking homeward for repair of societies that are broken, African Colonials. They are Africans who serve foreign ideas.

The tropes of America's racial history as a way of understanding all things black are useless in understanding the man who got his dreams from his father, a Kenyan exemplar of the African Colonial.
Before I continue, I need to say this: I am a first generation born West African-American woman whose parents emigrated to the U.S. in the 1970's from the country now called Nigeria. I travel to Nigeria frequently. I see myself as both a proud American and as a proud Igbo (the tribe that we come from -- also sometimes spelled Ibo). Politically, I have always been conservative (though it took this past election for me to commit to this once and for all!); my conservative values come from my Igbo heritage and my place of birth. Of course, none of this qualifies me to say what I am about to -- but at the same time it does.

My friends, despite what CNN and the rest are telling you, Barack Obama is nothing more than an old school African Colonial who is on his way to turning this country into one of the developing nations that you learn about on the National Geographic Channel. Many conservative (East, West, South, North) African-Americans like myself -- those of us who know our history -- have seen this movie before. Here are two main reasons why many Americans allowed Obama to slip through the cracks despite all of his glaring inconsistencies:

First, Obama has been living on American soil for most of his adult life. Therefore, he has been able to masquerade as one who understands and believes in American democratic ideals. But he does not. Barack Obama is intrinsically undemocratic and as his presidency plays out, this will become more obvious. Second, and most importantly, too many Americans know very little about Africa. The one-size-fits-all understanding that many Americans (both black and white) continue to have of Africa might end up bringing dire consequences for this country.   (continue at American Thinker)

Experience, Judgment, and Character: The Road from Eisenhower to Obama

I recently found myself in the childhood home of Dwight D. Eisenhower in Abilene, Kansas. It was a tremendous experience to hear the creek of the floorboards, to see the handcrafted furniture, and to feel the texture of the wallpaper (even though that is probably against the rules for visitors) in the boyhood home of one of the most important historical figures of the United States. They say that the Eisenhowers lived on the wrong side of the tracks, but you can’t tell that today. What you can tell, is that the Eisenhower family home was not a place of extravagant frills, but of family necessity, with a delicate dash of austere country beauty.

It was from my visit to Abilene, Kansas, that I thought myself bold enough to compare the man they called “Ike” to the newest sensation on the presidential stage, Barack Obama. Some would say that it is not fair to make the comparison of these two presidents and that the list of reasons might possibly reach infinity - and to some degree that’s a valid argument. However, there are some situations in the country now facing Obama that are very similar to those which were faced by Eisenhower that had defined him as a leader.  That is, the current threats to the national security of the United States, and the manner in which the President is dealing with them. Let’s throw political parties to the side and talk about what really matters in the crunch from a leader: experience, judgment, and character.

The United States is once again faced with a foe that desires our total destruction. This time the foe is radical Islamic extremists, and it is here that we see a tremendous separation between the experience, judgment, and character, of Barack Obama and that of Dwight D. Eisenhower. Barack Obama seems all too willing to talk to our enemies about America’s wrongdoings, and then appears to be overly restrained when freedom-seeking people challenge those same totalitarian regimes. If the same situation of election violence that has recently taken place in Iran were to have befallen Eisenhower, would we see the same vague and flaccid statements of condemnation that have sprung forth from the lips of Obama? I seriously doubt it. In fact, if we are honest, Eisenhower had probably made more clutch decisions before becoming President than Barack Obama or most people have had to make in their entire life.

This is not to say that Eisenhower was a war hawk, because that would be far from the truth. Eisenhower had the same distaste for war that entails most soldiers, but he had a keen eye for sizing up the enemy. He had celebrated abilities that are entrusted to a special few that bear the burden of momentous decisions that will affect the nation, where failure is not an option. It was this kind of tested judgment, combined with Eisenhower’s internal character, which placed him in the historical position of Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in World War II. With a humble grace, Eisenhower shined in this harsh war environment with its extreme pressures that require not only experience and good judgment, but also the strength of character that comes from knowing the righteousness of freedom, and the rightness of America.

It is in this arena that Eisenhower excelled and that, I believe, Obama will fail us. As Barack Obama spends his precious time talking about the challenges of the day by noting the shortcomings of the past administration, Eisenhower went to work. As Obama rubs shoulders with Hollywood elites and runs the late night talk show circuit, Eisenhower addressed the bottom line needs of the country. As Obama triples the country’s debt and nationalizes the free market system, Eisenhower gave us economic prosperity after the bloodiest of wars.

There is no doubt that Obama would win an oratory flare contest against the thirty-fourth President of the United States, and would most likely come off more flamboyant after an evening of chit chat with Jay Leno or David Letterman; but when it comes to substance, and a leader for troubled times, I still like Ike.

Right Truth Advice Column - Second Edition

Abby  In this second edition of the Right Truth Advice Column, I answer questions from Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin.  These are two strong women with decisions they need to make for their future.  Will they choose the right path or will they allow circumstances, media, and bad advisers to lead them down the wrong path?  The next three years will be very interesting.

To Hillary Clinton:  You find yourself in a precarious position today, you're not happy and wondering what you need to do.  You failed to get your party's nomination, losing to your rival Barack Obama.  Your actions immediately after his election have led you to the place you are today, and it does not look pretty.

Hillaryclinton You could have held your head high, sticking to your beliefs and biding your time until 2012.  Your followers would have respected you for this, they would have stayed with you, especially after seeing the destruction Obama is bringing on America. 

But no, you sold yourself out to the devil for a position as Secretary of State... a position where you are nothing more than a mouthpiece for Obama.  Shame on you.  You let your faithful down, especially the women. 
A Nexis database search shows you had fewer mentions last month than any time since you launched your presidential bid in January 2007. 

My advice to you is while you nurse your broken elbow you need to decide what you really want -- to be Obama's lackey or to run for president again.  If running for president is what you truly desire, then resign as secretary of state today.  People, including his loving media, are beginning to question his ideas, programs and direction for this nation.

Take to the airwaves, print media, YouTube, and networking sites.  Start sharing with Americans what you would be doing if you were president, what you will do to get this country back on track if elected in 2012.  Time is slipping by Hillary, this is your last chance -- go for it now.


To Sarah Palin:  You want to stay in politics, you want a chance to run for president in spite of the blatant attacks from the Left that continue and will continue until they feel you are no longer a threat to them.  They do feel you are a threat or they wouldn't waste their time on you.  They are right, you are a threat.

Palin1 Sarah, 73% of Republicans have a favorable opinion of you.  Mitt Romney has a 57% favorable opinion among American voters.  Think about that.  Republicans, Conservatives, many women love you, what you stand for, your values, your politics.  Don't change any of this.  Do you hear me -- Don't Change.

Think about this:  Glenn Beck's book "Common Sense" and Mark Levin's book "Liberty and Tyranny" are best sellers, flying off the shelves. 
With the second quarter coming to a close, Fox News averaged about the same number of viewers as the top three other cable news networks combined. Compared with last year, the Fox News (averaging 2.1 million viewers, 509,000 adults 25-54 quarter-to-date) is up 35% over last year in primetime viewers and 48% in the demo.  (THR.com)  Listeners to radio shows like Rush Limbaugh are increasing at an unbelievable pace.  Why?

The answer is easy, the majority of Americans believe the way Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Fox News, and Rush Limbaugh believe.  They believe the way you do Sarah.

My advice to you is do not change your beliefs, do not change your personality, do not change your politics -- Increase your knowledge of world affairs, other nations, visit with world leaders, seek out reliable associates who believe the way you do.  Attend Tea Parties and other events around the nation.  Give interviews, set your own agenda, give speeches when the opportunity arises.  

You have the potential to go far in spite of the hatred from the Left.  It's up to you.  Only you can take advantage of the opportunity that is ripe for the picking, and only you can screw up this opportunity. 

Choose your battles carefully, choose your associates carefully, and be the strong woman, strong Conservative that we all know you are.  Don't change.

Right Truth Advice Column

Abby I feel the need to start a Right Truth Advice Column, with short bursts of advice directed at specific people.  Here goes:

To Mrs. Mark Sanford:  Tell your husband
South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford to 'hit the road and don't cha' come back again.'  Listening to his press conference today it is obvious that he (1) loves the other woman;  (2) is sorry [he got caught];  (3) is not worth your time.

To South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford:  Shut up.  Resign from public office.  Give your wife a hassle-free divorce and disappear.

To General Brent Scowcroft :  You stated today the the United States does in fact have agents working undercover in Iran.  Shut up.  I have no doubt that the statement is true, but now is not the time to be broadcasting such a statement when we have several individuals in Iranian jails on espionage charges.  My contact tells me:

One case, on which I am personally engaged, to the point of being on the point of getting the person sprung. One may assume, continued stupid statements such as the General's will help cook their goose.  And just as Ayatollah Rafsanjani was gaining momentum within the Group of Experts, GEN Scowcroft has to feed into the regime's worst suspicions. (Alas, one may hope the Iranians do not go down the path of the Hungarians.)  For the record, complete idiocy on the part of someone, who should know better. IT WILL COST WESTERN LIVES.


To Republicans:
  Stand up for Conservative principles.  Do not put wishy-washy moderates in positions of power and leadership.  We don't want them.  You can't win with them.  We won't make donations to them or to the party if you promote them.  You want to win in 2010 and 2012?  Then straighten up and fly RIGHT -- Conservatively right.

Muhammad stood silently, observing the stout Russian with the enticingly boyish face go about his description of the device that lay upon the table in front of the Arab. The physicist never once stopped for a breath, never once glanced up towards the tall visitor to see if his words were comprehended or not.

“As I have said,” Dr. Gavril Gerasimova waved his hand across the dark brown canvas duffel, repetitively covering his thirty-minute discussion. “This case contains the replica of a thirty-kiloton enhanced fission weapon. Inside of the barrel, which you see depicted by this large metallic canister, is a series of one hundred thin disks, each comprised of explosive/uranium wafers.

“The disks are divided into half; the fifty on the left from your perspective contain explosive-uranium sandwiches while the others would be uranium-explosive. In other words, the uranium fuel remains towards the inside whereas the explosives are outside.

“The disks themselves are slightly skewed and the explosives, RDX, are detonated from the top as within your standard flying plate design. The shock wave travels from the top down, forcing each disk to assume a true vertical position and thrusting the uranium fuel away from the explosion.

“As we have one hundred thin uranium wafers compressing in upon one another – fifty from either side – critical mass is achieved at a higher rate than if we were to employ a standard gun-type weapon.”

Muhammad’s face smoothed into a faint smile as he envisioned the hands of Allah compressing the fuel together in order to annihilate Jerusalem.

“The simplest way to describe the process,” spoke another Russian, taller and thinner in physique but retaining the same wretched comb-over hairstyle of his companion. “Is imagining the thin uranium fuel as the surfaces of bubbles being compressed into a more solidified mass. In a sense, we have simply taken the critical mass and shaved it off into one hundred uniform disks.”

“Thank you Sasha.” replied Dr. Gerasimova, before turning his attention back towards the foreigner. “As Dr. Vargunin alluded to, your standard gun-type weapon, such as that which the Americans used upon Hiroshima during the Great Patriotic War, utilizes two halves, one fire into the other. Our design shortens criticality significantly because less force is required to impart initial momentum.”

Muhammad deepened his awkward smile, but remained silent. He ran his hands along the handle of the duffel bag and observed the presence of cables sewn into the fabric.
“Those are the detonating wires,” explained Gerasimova. “The operator merely has to set the bag down, squeeze the handle tightly while yanking upward abruptly, and the timer is activated.”

“How long before detonation?” questioned Muhammad.

“Theoretically, as long as you would like. But we would recommend no more than one-half hour depending upon local security and nearby observers.”

“Yes.” Muhammad thought about the Israelis. They were too good to permit a long exposure, but he did not want to allow the hint of suicide attack nonetheless. The Russians were suppliers – businessmen – they were not therefore privy to his entire plan. “Thirty kilotons?”

“As designed.” reassured Vargunin. “Our country had only detonated one of these devices before operations ceased in the 1990s. The model that you see before you is slightly modified based upon computer simulations that we received from the Americans following their offers to aid with the safeguarding of our own arsenal. We guarantee at least twenty kilotons regardless.”

Muhammad retreated effortlessly towards the wall of the conference room, disappearing into a shadow as his thoughts scaled the expectations of his organization. Twenty or thirty kilotons unleashed within Jerusalem would severely punish both the Jews and the Christians while employing Palestinians, as always, as martyred pawns for the cause.
Tens of thousands of dead would certainly shift the balance within the Middle East, but Muhammad wanted to reap the propaganda benefits of attacking the cultural center for the world’s three great religions as well. His main target, however, still remained New York City; a city that he did not just want to bloody but to annihilate.

The attack against Israel was simply a means to deflect the chance that they might assume the power vacuum left by a rapidly silenced America. It would not be time to destroy Israel. Not yet. Not until they served his ambitions. Only then would Muhammad seek to lay waste to the entire State of Israel.

First, America had to be dealt with. Years of fashioning the Great Satan into a weak giant left them on the edge of indecision. Americans had rebelled against war, rebelled against the desire to fight, and had the concept of peaceful negotiation thrust down their throats.

Their security apparatus was insufficient to handle an adversary hell-bent on victory at all costs. Americans simply preferred to play by the rules. Rules that Muhammad understood more than could they. The tall Arab simply bided his time until circumstances in America were ripe to vaporize one of their proudest and most storied cities and the timing that presented itself could not have been any more perfect.

Muhammad knew that the Americans had spent $2 trillion on disrupting their infrastructure for the promise of a new future. They were simply suffocating under the weight of this new domestic bureaucracy and the Sorcerer was now determined to brutally awaken the United States as to the precise nature of this much-ballyhooed future.

Iran media: Obama sent secret letter of support to Khamenei before election - DEBKA

US and Iranian sources report that before Iran's presidential election, the Obama administration sent a secret letter to its supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei calling for "cooperation in regional and bilateral relations" and a resolution of the dispute over Iran's nuclear program.

The Iranian media gave great prominence to the disclosure - for which they cited the Washington Times of Wednesday, June 24 - in order to underline US president's backing for Khamenei and president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in contrast to his latest words of condemnation for the regime and support for the "reformists."

According to the WT, a senior Obama administration official speaking on condition of anonymity refused to confirm or deny that this letter had been sent to the supreme leader or whether there had been a response.

DEBKAfile's Iranian sources say the Iranians are using this expose to embarrass president Obama for telling a news conference in Washington Tuesday that Iran's rulers are on the wrong side of history.

The secrecy of the communication can only add to the awkwardness because it points to Obama being convinced that once the protest movement dies down, he can go back to his plan for engaging Iran's leaders in dialogue.

Khamenei himself referred indirectly to the missive when he commented in his sermon last Friday:

"On the one hand, they write a letter to us to express their respect for the Islamic Republic and for re-establishment of ties, and on the other hand, they make these remarks. Which one of these remarks are we supposed to believe."

Following the disclosure of the Obama letter, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs announced: "Given the events of the past many days, those invitations [for Iranian diplomats to attend July 4 events in different world capitals] will no longer be extended."

The events going back and forth in a single day, Wednesday, signaled a conspicuous retreat in the process of US-Iranian rapprochement.  (DEBKAfile.com)

The Fence Sitter

Fencesitter3 United States President Barack Obama is the typical fence-sitter -- One who takes a position of neutrality or indecision, as in a controversial matter.  His continued response to the protests for freedom in Iran have turned the world upside down.  France, known for weakness and failure to fight, has along with Britain become the new America, while the US is now France.  Nile Gardiner spoke on Fox News after Obama's press conference today and expressed what most Conservatives and Republicans have already decided -- Obama is weak -- Britain and France have become the strong nations, expelling Iranian diplomats and boldly condemning the violence in Iran.

He said, "The Obama administrations response to Mahmoud Ahmadinejads fraudulent election victory is cowardly, lilylivered and wrong. ... Iran threatens genocide, Obama offers hot dogs.  [The State Department has asked US embassies across the world to invite Iranian diplomats to 4th of July celebrations, for the first time in nearly 30 years.]

Nile Gardiner, a British scholar who served as an adviser to Lady Margaret Thatcher and director of the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom at The Heritage Foundationsays neither German Chancellor Angela Merkel nor French President Nicholas Sarkozy really respect President Barack Obama, specifically  "They don't have a particularly warm relationship -- and certainly the German chancellor is fundamentally opposed to the kind of big-scale economic bailout plans that President Obama is pushing."

"A direct parallel is now being drawn between the fight for freedom from Islamist tyranny in Iran and across the Middle East and the fight decades earlier for freedom from Soviet tyranny,"  said Nile Gardiner, ...

"It's almost as if the president lacks confidence in the greatness of his own nation," he added. "He seems unwilling to aggressively project American global power, as if it were something to be ashamed of."   (Washington Post)


What next from the generous Obama team? Burgers for North Korean Stalinists? Water melon for the Burmese junta? Potato salad for the Sudanese-backed Janjaweed militias in Darfur? This whole strategy of “engagement” is a humiliating farce. This isn’t “smart power” diplomacy - it’s kowtowing to some of the most odious tyrannies on the face of the earth. The United States used to be feared by its enemies. Thanks to Obama it’s now increasingly viewed by tyrants as a free lunch.  (The Telegraph)


Gardiner has a point, can you imagine Margaret Thatcher or Ronald Reagan's response to Iran?  Does Obama's response measure up?  No way.  From the transcript of today's press conference, you can read Obama's statements.

The world needs to hear decisiveness from the American President, and we are getting fence sitting, luke warm comments with no direction and no encouragement for the Iranian people.  Under Obama we have become the France of old.

Rev. 3:14-22, "And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.


If all else fails, give a press conference

With opposition to Barack Obama's health care plan and negative reaction to his response to the protests for freedom in Iran, Obama takes to the position he is most comfortable -- talking.  On Fox News Charles Krauthhammer reminds viewers that diplomats from Iran are still invited to visit Washington on July 4th, 2009 and suggests someone ask Obama, "can you really sit down and break bread with these people while blood is still fresh in the streets of Tehran?"  I doubt this question will be asked, but I would love to hear the answer.  Live blogging:

Obama:  "I strongly condemn these actions [in Iran].  We respect the sovereignty of Iran. ...  We deplore the violence against innocent people everywhere.   ...  We've seen the dignity of Iranians ... We've seen courageous women stand up ...  This loss is raw and extremely painful ... 

We're told there was no teleprompter, what a risk actually reading from a script at the podium.  It's great when a baby can give up his binky or blankie, isn't it??? 

His comments on Iran were aimed at reviving his pathetic previous responses.  I'm not sure he achieved that purpose.  He also spoke on energy, health care, which he said "is a complicated issue, it will not add to our deficits,  ... we can't have a system where we throw good money after bad ... we must preserve what is good ...  "

Questions:  "Is there any line your administration will not cross when it comes to Iran?"

Answer:  "...  We have provided a path where by Iran can reach out to the  international community ...  It is up to them to make a decision ...  What we have been seeing ... is not encouraging.  ...  They are in the midst of a debate going on in Tehran... we will monitor and see how this plays out before we make any decisions as to how to proceed ....  "

Question:  "Should there be consequences for what has happened so far?"

Answer:  "The international community ...  "

Question:  "Directly from an Iranian ... Under which conditions would you accept Iran's ...

Answer:  "We did not have watchers on the ground, we don't know what happened at the poling stations ....  There is significant questions about the election .  The most important thing for the government to consider is ... ultimately this is up to the Iranian people ... What we can do is say unequivocal    international norms about dealing with peaceful descent ... than spans borders ...  and what we have been seeing violates those norms.

Question:  "Republicans say ... John McCain and Lindsy Graham say ... your response toward Iran has been tepid.  ... do you agree."

Answer:  "What do you think ... [laughter from press corps, probably smacking sounds of butt kissing mixed in] ... no.  ...   I'm the president ..."

Question:  "You said there will be consequences ..."

Answer:  "I think when a woman gets shot getting out of her car ..."

Question:  "Why would you say there would be consequences ..."

Answer:  "I answered ...  we do not know how this will play out."

Question:  "re Neda, have you seen this video and what do you think?"

Answer:  "It's heartbreaking ..."

Obama pretty much repeated the comments he made yesterday.  The questions followed on the economy, health care, mostly the same old line.

It seems obvious that unions will again be protected, their health accounts will not be taxed, while the average working person in America gets no breaks.  The only job increases seem to be in Washington and government programs, while again average folks like the current health care workers, will lose their jobs.

There were the anticipated "staged" questions, with the canned answers.  My assessment of the entire press conference:  No news was made, Obama did not do himself any good, nor did he do himself any further damage.

The Fox News Panel:  Bill Sammon, Juan Williams, Charles Krauthhammer.

Krauthhammer says:  I think he finally adopted McCain language ...  Why did it take so long?   Obama insists he has been consistent ... he has not.  As to asking the Iranians to the US Embassy on July 4th, Obama said the doors are open if Iranians want to come....   Amazing...

Williams:  I think the president responded ... McCain and Graham have their roles to play, but Obama said "I'm the President", defensive, petty.  Obama doesn't want to be in the roll of condemning.

Sammon:  Give him credit, he was stronger on Iran ... lack of emotion, his demeanor,  cold, cool, detached, too cool for his own good.

Williams:  He did a good job on health care.  

Krauthhammer:  Always amazed at how nimble he is ... but he's a rookie at this ... he thinks a lot ...

Now to Brit Hume:

Hume:  There was a change, we never heard the word 'condemn' before, this was the strongest statement by far on Iran ...  ...  He would not acknowledge engagement... It would be difficult for him to acknowledge the regime and engage these rulers ...  pressuring them will not work.  He did not rule out [hot dog diplomacy].  He tried to avoid the question of the July 4th, tried to duck the question.  The important thing ... we are beginning to see the first stages of the honeymoon. 

Hume:  Questioning was more pointed, atmosphere different, people having gathering questions on economy, concerns about policy above personality, slipping in approval rating, ... chickens coming home to roost...  Reporters showing some teeth.

Hume:  He has been shown up by congress.  Congress has shown much tougher on Iran... He was playing catchup...
